At 9 am this morning a mail carrier was flying down 7th Street downtown and ran the red light at Mendocino and 7th. I had to call several times before anyone would pick up the phone. When a woman finally answered, I let her know I was lucky to have seen him speeding down the street so didn't step off the curb or would have been 1/2 way across when he hit the intersection. Her response was, "Thank you, I'll let the mail carrier know." Very ironic to have happened there since the girl who works in the bike shop on that same corner has been out of work several months due to being hit in her vehicle by a mail carrier. read more

I received Form 3547, what looked like a bill for $0.57 from USPS. It showed a copy of the evenlope the dentist's bill came in. It showed my dentist sent the bill to my old address with a forever stamp on it on March 26th. The post office afixed a label with my new address on April 24th, nearly a month later. The USPS bill came a few days after the dentist's bill. I'm having trouble understanding why USPS billed me since they're supposed to forward mail to new addresses for free for a year, and I've only been at my new place for five months. Packages ordered through Amazon are routinely late. Most of the time, the packages are falsely marked "Attempted delivery", despite no such attempts having been made. Instead of admitting mistake, the sack of cartilage in charge of this office seems to think lying is a better alternative, likely to avoid getting in trouble for their incompetence at managing their service. read more

Make no mistake the one additional star is solely for the Automated Postal Machine. The people that work at this location move incredibly slow. There will be a line of 10+ people, maybe two windows open, and they'll still be moving at a snail's pace. If you have to wait in a line such as that expect to wait at least 15-20 minutes before you get any service. What prompted me to write this review was normally I use the Automated Postal Machine - and it works very well. But today I had a larger package that just barely did not make it in the drop bin. I thought I could just go up to a counter in between customers and drop off this package but oh no! The woman I dealt with was like well lets just see about this and proceeded to re-measure my package that I had just measured on the machine - making me feel like I was a cheat - and remember this is in front of other people. Then she told me my postage was under by $15 (the postage I had already paid was $14.75) and I said how I had just measured it on the machine and that's the price it gave me so she proceeds to re-measure it - showing me the tape measure and she made the height about an inch higher than it actually was and voila, when she changed it on the computer it came back to the price I had already paid but she says, "oh it's a little under but we'll let it go." Excuse me? Now I wonder if other people that are using the postal employees instead of the machine are being ripped off this way. If postal employees are worried about losing their jobs to automated machines maybe they should do their jobs properly and not make the experience something akin to going to the DMV - oh wait... I actually now like the Santa Rosa DMV now... read more

I don't know if all post offices are like this, but they never answer the phone! It rings and rings and rings...and then after 3 minutes of hopeful ringing it goes to a loud beep, basically there choice of an obnoxious way to say 'hang up'. My Fed Ex package was unable to be delivered because I wasn't at my house. (since when do they do that?) After it being a week late I called fed ex, they sent me to usps, back and forth. Hold after hold. Robot after robot (can I talk to a human being? is that possible?!) I Finally found out that I needed to call the local post office to either reschedule a delivery to pick it up. Problem is Santa Rosa has several post offices and my house is pretty centrally located between 3. So I don't know which one to go to & I can't get a hold of anyone!!!!! I HAVE NOW CALLED 6 TIMES!!! Only ONE of those times did someone answer, who very abruptly put me on hold after I told them what I was calling about. I then sat on hold for 25 minutes, until hanging up in frustration. !! All I needed was ONE STAMP, this line was so long and then I see the auto machine, I was so happy the line was alot shorter. There was just a few people in line so I leave the counter line, the guy in front of me gets up to the machine throws his hands up laughing...The auto machine does NOT take cash!! So me needing my one stamp with change in pocket had to get back in the counter line and wait another 15-20mins...awesome. read more

I have had a bunch of negative experiences with the USPS in the past, but today was different. At the business I work we accidentally shipped a box to a customer with a cancelled label. The item is expensive so I was worried sick. I printed a new label and called the post office not even expecting them to answer. They answered quickly and put in a call to the driver that had picked up the box. He actually came back to our shop and we put on the new label and our problem was solved. This was excellent customer service over and beyond expectations !! read more

If I could give this negative stars, I would! Just spoke to the rudest woman I think I've ever experienced in my life on the phone. I couldn't understand much of what she was saying through the language barrier and the screaming in my ear. Absolute terrible customer service. Makes me glad I moved away from that city. I've got plenty of profanities I'd love to call this woman, but I think i'll watch the language on here. But on a positive note, our post man was the sweetest guy on the planet, always nice and super friendly. Just had bad experiences over the phone and in person at the office before. Sadly, not my first bad experience! We had requested a vacation hold and were supposed to get our accumulated mail delivered the day after our return--but are still waiting. The worst thing is that while we were gone, they delivered a pile of mail (including what appears to be a prescription refill) for our next door neighbor, which we brought to them today. I tried calling two numbers: one rang forever and nobody picked up, while the other was busy every time I called. On several occasions they've mixed up our mail with somebody's on a different street, but with the same number: clearly, they just look at the number, not the street name. I know they are understaffed but need to do a better job. It's no surprise that the USPS is going out of business. read more

This location gets a ton of traffic being an stand in line customer is not ideal. I would advise another place. I know for passports you are limited but again another location might be better. I will say an normally I drop packages off on the dock owning a business they go out on time and never get lost. The few times I have gone to the retail counter it hasn't been to bad. I am sure if you show up at like 3pm to 6pm or closing time it will be busy as most Post Offices are. Overall I have only had positive experiences. read more

I have become increasing concerned about the inefficiency of your delivery system. In the recent past you could depend upon the mail arriving about 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM. In the last three weeks there have been several (4) deliveries which arrives between 9:45 PM & 10:10 PM. I do not collect the mail that late but I am growing concerned about mail theft. I went to the usps.gov website to check on expected deliveries times for mail. The Website listed times of delivery between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM. 9:45 PM - 10:10 PM is way outside the parameters for delivery. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Your reply would be welcomed. Thank You. Another unsatisfactory report following my report of 8/11/2017. There still has been no followup to my request for missing priority mail boxes. Today I called the supervisor's phone several times plus the main office number, and even the number listed to call for a passport appointment. Each time the phone rang for 3 minutes and then a busy signal. This has occurred over the past few days. A wonderful example how not to operate a customer business. read more

Every time I use the post office in Santa Rosa, it's nothing but ease. I ship priority boxes about once a month from either office, on Second Street or the one on McBride. Both offices have very knowledgeable and polite Clerks working the window. I prefer the USPS over any other shipping/receiving department around. And my letter carriers are always friendly and hustling to get my parcels and letters to my box. read more

If you are shipping anything Fragile, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS LOCATION. I sent out three glass mugs wrapped in bubble wrap, surrounded in the popcorn foam and Fragile stamped in multiple places on the box. When it arrived at its location two of the mugs had shattered completely. The box looked as if it had been drop and squished into place. The location staff have terrible customer service skills. I am glad this is not my hometown post office. Would have given zero stars if there was an option. read more

So you call the number listed on here and you get the busy signal too? The thing is, the number posted is incorrect. Call a different facility and they will give you the real number. What is the point of having phone numbers and a passport office if nobody answers the phone. After 20+ calls, I finally get someone at the post office and they tell me the next passport appointment is in 2 1/2 months! Then it will take another couple months to get a passport. We should privatize the post office. I would happily pay more to get decent service. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with the handling of packages on the part of the US post Office on 2nd St in Santa Rosa, California. I have had packages sent twice this year. The first one was supposed to arrive in a week but arrived over a month later. The second was sent priority mail. Both made it, according to the tracking system, to the 2nd street post office and the first one was stated to be"out for delivery" and the second was both stated to be "out for delivery" then "available for pickup". The company who sent the first package finally had to send a replacement item because the postal staff couldn't find the package. Then the original package arrived about a month after it was supposed to. The second "priority mail" was supposed to be delivered December 21. I went to pick it up December 23rd and they couldn't find it. The clerk said, "maybe the carrier has it." I found the carrier delivering mail upon my return home and she said she didn't have it but stated, "Maybe there's a special package truck delivering packages." It didn't arrive December 24 or December 26. I went to pick it up December 27 and the clerk searched the back and didn't find it. I asked to speak to a supervisor but reportedly all were in meetings. She took my number and said the supervisor would call. He didn't call and when I repeatedly called there, no one answered the phone and there is no message machine. I also tried to call December 28 repeatedly to no avail. I will from here on out be advising businesses and individuals to avoid using the Post Office to deliver packages and to use Fed Ex instead. read more

I tried to mail a package on a Sunday evening at the self-serve scale and postage unit they have in the lobby. When I tried to put my package into the drum that opens with a handle, it was jammed and I couldn't mail the package. I'm pretty sure the scale is inaccurate, because I weighed my package on my kitchen scale and it weighed less. I ended up not mailing the package, but ordering See's candy online and having them ship it to our daughter. A 9 oz. package of candy plus a card and the mailing box supposedly weighed 1 lb, 0.40oz. and cost $9.64 to get it to New Orleans in 7 days! I will have to say that when I called the Post Office today and spoke with Kelly, she said she would report the scale inaccuracy to the Postmaster General and she told me that the drum gets full and jams up on Sunday evenings. She was nice enough but was not able to help me with any kind of refund on my postage. I wasn't able to get a refund online either. When I called a 1-800 number today, their computer system was down and they couldn't help me. I think the entire USPS needs a lot of help!! I've probably spent enough of my time on this problem now, so I'll just foget about it. read more
