Like most Portland USPS shipping clerks, the staff was cheerful and friendly to the point of sometimes gabbing with customers while others wait in line and no one seems to mind (this is a rare gift, Oregonians. Read Brukowski's "Post Office" or ask yourself where the slang term "going postal" comes from, if you don't believe how surly and unhappy postal workers are in most other states). However, I've lived in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood for over a decade now, and I have to say that it's probably the worst carrier service I've ever had in my entire life. I can't count how many times I've done their job for them, personally delivering mail to neighbors or people I don't know blocks away after it ends up in my box for some unknown reason. It's happened so many times over the years I think I deserve a tax deduction or government stipend check for my efforts (although the check would probably be delivered to the wrong address most likely, so I'd take the deduction if offered, ha ha). I almost don't want to post this in fear of never getting any mail again if someone from that distribution center actually reads this, but if they don't know what's really going on with their carrier service that would be just as bad for everyone in my neighborhood.

The parking lot is small, but there is also ample street parking. I can only imagine the abuse and expectations the general publics puts on the staff working here. They all seem pretty kind and patient and are just doing their job. I do wish they had a machine to purchase stamps or weigh and pay for your own packages like I've seen at other locations.

This review is specifically about the USPS's Bend DCU office on Business Way. This office has…read morereceived criticism in the past but my experience with the folks who work there has always been positive. I stopped by today to express some concerns about the quality of my delivery service at both my home and work addresses. After speaking with Lance, I came away feeling like my problems were important to him and that they would be addressed. This is a busy place and I've often felt bad for the folks at the window who, from time-to-time, have to deal with frustrated customers through no fault of their own. It's never struck me as an easy job to work there. I always try to keep that in mind while I'm waiting in line.

I have documented every time it happens and shown them videos and pictures and they just don't care. Today I have to go in to the post office because the postal courier jammed a package in the delivery side of our mailbox and there's no way to open it without cutting the box or completely breaking the rest of the package. The package is a large bottle of supplements for my pregnant wife, which we have no way of accessing. Going to file a complaint and have the post office fix it and if they don't, I'm going to file a police report for vandalism of mailbox and hopefully press charges and get a lawsuit going.
