Would not let me give negative stars. I own a law firm in Trinidad in a building with residential apartments. We receive all the mail for everyone else in the building, and do not receive our own mail. I can only assume our mail is being delivered to someone who lives in the building, which as a law firm is VERY concerning. They have not delivered, for example, mail from Attorney Regulation (our yearly bar cards) for either of the attorneys in our office, which we need to visit incarcerated clients. We have complained, and they will not fix it. I have tried to call and they do not answer the phone and do not have an answering machine or voicemail. The clerk tried to over charge me as he added an extra 3" to the Length, and height, and width of my package and then charged an extra $22. Watch them measure and make sure it matches the dimensions of your package. The guy was so arrogant . I told him I already measured it. He refused to re-measure it. I took my package home and called the post office, the supervisor asked him what happened and he said he couldn't remember 10 min later. He got caught in a lie. When I went to the post office I was fine. I left angry, I didn't want to be angry. I had to make a second trip and that was horrible too. Renee Fransua is the root of all the problems at this office. She sabotages carriers by hiding their customer's parcels, certified mail, stamp purchases, etc. Management won't do anything despite carriers reporting her to the postal inspector and the union stewards. She thinks she plays a pivotal role at the office but she is just a clerk. Pure garbage. read more

These are things I've experienced personally with USPS Trinidad. CO Packages returned to sender with no explanation. Packages returned to sender because the sender used C.R. instead of spelling out 'County Road". Packages sitting at post office without anyone putting a slip in PO Box, which forces you to ask if you have a package and making them go look. Getting a 'Final Notice' slip in my PO Box without ever receiving a first or second notice. Packages marked as 'Delivered' but not received. Being sent to the dreaded 'Side door' whenever there is a problem, which will be slammed in your face at least twice as you try and coach them into doing their job. The clerk at the counter telling me he's tired of the people in the back (particularly the post master) lying to make themselves look good, that they aren't the ones who deal with irate customers, he is, and being encouraged to call the 1-800 number and complaining because he's sick of all the lying that goes on in the back. Asking a simple question and getting told how long the person has worked there and how dare I question their knowledge, as if no one has ever had a problem there. It seems like they make up rules as they go. I've asked questions of the three people who are normally at the desk and get different answers from all three, and different answers from the same person on different days I dealt with some guy at the side door who smelled and looked like he'd just gotten out of bed and had slept in the clothes he was wearing. I gave him my tracking number and got the door slammed in my face and about a 10 minute wait. He asked for my phone number and said he would call me, but I had fallen for that one before so I asked if my route carrier was still there. Answer? Yes. So I asked if he had talked to her. Answer? No. So I suggested maybe he should go talk to her, which got the side door slammed in my face for the second time and another 15 minute wait, but he finally returned with the missing package. I went back around to the front and asked the clerk if the post master was in, and he told me that I had just talked to him. From what longer term residents have said, this post office used to at least function, if not well, but the problems we see on a regular basis no were not common. I see a severe leadership problem. The person getting paid to lead the place isn't, and from my experience is incompetent, doesn't care, or both. There is no oversight, the workers seem to do whatever they want. I've never seen a group of people work so hard to get out of doing something they should be doing, and they all seem miserable. They make silly excuses like 'well I have to do what they tell me' or, 'I'm not sure why so and so did that, but I'll let the supervisor know' read more

I called and asked if I could have mail forwarded to their address per general delivery.... was told yes!!! Upon arriving at the nearby state park, I called to see if my mail had arrived.... was told I had no mail... I called my mail service and was told it was delivered to post office on 8th (I'm checking on 12th). I got the tracking # and went to the post office... At post office I had to deal with a guy with a serious attitude... Extremely rude and very curt!!! I asked if he'd check for my mail... He asked me what address I had it sent to..... I told him to their physical address - 301 E Main... He informed me that was the post office's mail address and if I had it sent there they RETURNED it.... Totally confused, I asked WHY!!! He said I should have addressed it "General Delivery, City, ZIP..... I asked what's the difference as long as it arrives at their post office... Told me that's their rule... I asked if they physically had my mail at their address and then because it had the Main Street address in it THEY RETURNED IT!!!! That's our rule he stated.... If I could give minus stars I would!!!! I checked if I could have mail send to their address to be picked up when I came through town. I was told yes, and confirmed the address. What was coming was time sensitive, and had to be picked up the day it was delivered. Waited for it, kept tracking it. Then end of day with no success, the tracking said it was returned do to insufficient address . . . even thought they confirmed what I was using was correct. Then come to find out I was to use "General Delivery" with the address, would have been nice if they had shared that bit of information when I confirmed it with them twice!!!!! They were very rude and this caused me a lot of problems as I didn't get my much needed mail. Not only that, but we paid extra for express delivery. SHAME ON YOU TRINIDAD USPS. read more

After reading all these reviews and visiting this post office, I now see why they have a 1 star. I came to the post office because I keep getting messages stating that they are unable to deliver my packages because they dont have access to my mailbox or front door. But both my mailbox and front door are in accessible locations. When I went to talk to someone who works there and started to explain the situation, he stopped me mid sentence and told me that "it's not his job to help me and it's not his job to know what the delivery people are doing with my packages". He told me that I needed to talk to the post master. So I came back to talk to him and I explained the situation again. I told him that all the keys to the bigger mailboxes were already put in the big mailboxes so my package should have been put in one of them. His excuse as to why my packages weren't delivered is because I might have a dog blocking my mailbox or my packages are too big for the bigger mailboxes. All I ordered were clothes which will fit in the bigger mailboxes. I think this post office is filled with incompetent workers who should not have been given the job. I'm pretty sure the delivery people don't even drive through my apartment to see where the mailboxes are.. just pure laziness. read more

Rude...... Would not give me a package without tracking number. When i had tracking number they reported someone picked up the package. When questioned about package missing, the worker got a attitude, then when i stated i did not pick up package, and it was stolen. He asked me to leave, escorting me out of lobby. Now after six months of delivery they claim they can not deliver mail to my post office box. What crap. read more

If you come to Trinidad, CO for a stay, DO NOT have anything SHIPPED to this town VIA the USPS. Do Not have UPS or FedEx drop your deliveries at this post office. There's a 90% chance that you will never receive your packages & mail & no one has a clue as to where it's gone! Watch RV travelers on YouTube talk about lost packages/mail, delays & the attitude of the employees at Trinidad, CO USPS. The employee's aren't bad people...they simply appear to be overwhelmed, defeated & a bit overly defiant. Hence the attitude! read more

I, too, had great difficulty with this post office. Went there to open a p.o. box, as it was required by the neighboring town I purchased property in. I brought in what I thought would be needed to open a p.o. box, but was told I needed additional documentation, so I went and got that and was told they needed yet more. I went back to my vehicle again, which is no easy task as I am in need of a hip replacement, and read the paper he'd handed me which stated the acceptable required documents, only to find that I had, in fact, already presented them all to him. So I went back in and pointed this out and he, reluctantly took the application. When I went to pay, he stated they only take cash, so I asked where an atm was. He told me that he didn't know but there were banks down the street so I drove to the closest bank only for them to tell me there atm was right behind the post office! After returning to the post office with cash, I asked for a receipt, which really seemed to annoy him. He looked around for a while, said he didn't have any and wrote "pd 6.00 for Cokedale box" & stamped it with the p.o. date stamp. That was April 12th. It is now the end of June.
