Love this little beach town! It has everything we love when visiting the Oregon coast...beach…read moreaccess, fresh seafood, lovely house rentals with ocean views, walkable trails, and cute little souvenir shops to peruse. The only thing it doesn't have is a gas station. Nearest one is 8 miles north on highway 101 in Waldport. Highlights include the Yachats State Park and Recreation Site. Great views with a viewing platform, tide pools to explore, restrooms, and plenty of parking. Many grab a bite in town and come here to eat it with a gorgeous view. Good eats include Luna Sea Fish House, LeRoy's Blue Whale, and Ona Restaurant & Lounge. Topper's is a great place for salt water taffy, ice cream, and handmade fudge and chocolates. If you're looking for rental properties, Sweet Homes is a great company to work with. We've used them a few times and have always been happy with pricing, amenities and correspondence. There's also a post office, Dollar General and C & K Market for last minute items. Overall, one of our favorite coastal towns to visit. Not crowded like more popular beach towns. A perfect place to relax and rewind. Highly recommend.

If you're looking for an event space in Yachats, odds are there will be a space in this building that can accommodate you. Please be aware though, that if you have any questions whatsoever throughout the process of scouting, securing a reservation, and planning for your event, the coordinator will be nearly impossible to reach and likely will not return your call. (This is why I can only give the space 3 stars overall) This review comes from someone who works for an event space, so I truly know how busy a role like this can be, however, when numerous phone calls with questions about the space go unanswered, and community members see my pleas for help on Facebook, that was the only way I was able to get quite simple information that a return phone call would have taken maybe 2 minutes of time. I finally bit the bullet and rented the place sight unseen, hopeful it would work for our event (and it did). Prior to our arrival, I did get the coordinator on the phone to discuss arrival time and location, however she forgot this arrangement and called me the day before our arrival to confirm erroneous details, which I had to remind her of. She then was 15 minutes late to meet up, which set our schedule for the day behind from the get-go. No instructions were given about clean up other than someone would be by to weigh the trash(?), and that person did not ever show up. After the event, 10 days went by before I called to inquire about the refund of our security deposit. I was told by the coordinator it had been issued, so I called my bank, confirming they did not have anything pending on their end. While on the phone with my bank, a receipt was sent via email showing the refund had just THEN, that morning, been initiated. It finally cleared the bank 2 weeks after our event. Perhaps the coordinator is going through a difficult season of life that makes necessary communication less than ideal, but prospective renters should be aware that if you aren't a local organization with a standing reserved room or a "regular" it seems like customer service is not prioritized.

Absolutely the most friendly, effective, and helpful shipping store I've ever been to. I eloped…read morerecently on the Oregon coast and had a grand plan to ship my elopement flowers to an Etsy artist to create pressed floral art to commemorate the big wedding day. This required flowers to be packed and shipped quickly to maintain freshness. Of course these flowers are also sentimental and would not be able to be replaced so I called a lot of shipping stores to do my research on which one to go with. From my first call, the woman on the phone was so helpful and clearly invested in helping me pick the best shipping option- she advised me on the limitations of expedited shipping over the weekend and also gave good advice about not wasting my money on overnight shipping since ground shipping would still get my flowers to their destination within reasonable time at much less cost. When I actually showed up a week later, I worked with a different staff member, but he was clearly aware of my case already, gave me free packing paper to use in my project, and was so helpful in patiently giving me all my shipping options again and helping me tape up my box with Fragile and This Way Up stickers. Yeah, it's the stereotype for postal workers to be terribly slow, but they do live up to it here…read more Actually, it's not that the workers themselves are being outraced by glaciers, it's that they never seem to open a second window, even if the line goes out the door and halfway down the hallway with the PO Boxes. Employees will occasionally appear from the back and ask the people in the long, long line if anyone is just there to pick up a package, but when no one steps forward, they disappear back into the depths. But it's clean, the shipping supply racks are well-stocked, and the single clerk is nice, and apologetic about the delay when you finally make it up to the front of the line.

This post office helped me track down an envelope that the carrier had accidentally taken out of my…read moremail box. It was just a plain white envelope with a friend's name written on the front and $200 cash inside; it wasn't even sealed. I had no faith that I would ever get my money back and was not a nice customer to deal with. Nonetheless, the staff kept their cool, did their due diligence, and unbelievably tracked down my envelope at Portland's central postal station and got it back to me. 5 star service, plus!
