He is eager to go to class each week and gives 100% because he feels positively motivated. From what I can see, he has made enormous progress after just a few sessions, and it has overflowed into his behavior at home. Coach David also takes time to give bits of real-world guidance that my son and I are able to discuss on the way home. It also looks really fun! Sometimes I want to jump in! I recommend Portland Academy of Self Defense to people of all ages who are interested in self-defense or just great exercise in a positive, accepting environment.

My son (6 years old) is in the Warrior Jr. Program (for 6-7 y.o.'s). He joined about 3 months ago and it has been everything we hoped for. We wanted him to learn how to protect himself and general self respect. We also were hoping it would help to instill life lessons/conversations that we have at home but, of course, helps to hear from someone other than mom and dad. This program does all of that and more! Teacher Randall has been an amazing addition to my sons life. He is the definition of a mentor/sensei. The way he connects with all the kids, is truly invested in helping them learn and grow, and seamlessly can run a class with all levels of focus from all different types of kids is amazing. The class assistant teachers are great too. It's cool to see them grow, as well. Dezmond is now a yellow belt (level 3). He's gotten more focused in class and at home. Also, he's gotten a lot better at speaking to his emotions through this. It's almost like the class is bringing him a lot of clarity on "life." Dezmond also gets to assistant teach the Little Warrior group - which he absolutely loves. I HIGHLY recommended Aim High.

If you take Armand's class at noon or the evening you're going to be in for a treat. He is very technical but super supportive in the way he mentors students. The class starts with flow rolling, and then drilling the technique of the day. After some sparring, students return to the technique in groups for positional drilling. Class then ends with a team rally shout and more rolling. Facility is amazing and super clean. People are friendly but are competitive in a positive way. Definitely check out Impact Jiujitsu if you're looking to start training.

Horrible, horrible service. I signed two children up for what was advertised on a Facebook event…read morefor a Nerf Gun party. However, this was anything but a party. In fact, it was far from it. Upon arriving, the older children were very rude. They were hollering orders to the other incoming kids, not setting a nice tone at all. The owner, was also very rude as well. He barely smiled and was more like a military militant if anything. All of this should've been my first inclination to not drop off the kids. But since I already paid, I thought they may have some fun anyway. Nonetheless, upon picking up the kids, they explained to me how horrible of a time they had. They rarely got to play with Nerf guns, instead one of the older girls made the kids all watch a movie. I mean, who puts kids in charge of other kids? It's supposed to be a fun-filled party right? WRONG!! The boys told me they were hit and get this when the owner called my son's friend the wrong name. When the child let the man know his name was incorrect he said: Mike, Max, whatever, it's all the same. How rude and condescending! I called the place of business to speak with the owner and no one answered. I then sent him a message through Facebook and he denied any and all claims. I even asked for a refund and he never responded back to me. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
