Matt, the owner, is an amazing human and has been training martial arts for an extremely long time. Matt is a 3rd Degree Black Belt, a Defensive Tactics Instructor, and one of the main instructors of the C4C/PJJ program, in addition to working for the fire department and swat teams. His presence and attitude travels from top down, from the coaching staff to the members, and the gym has a great vibe and friendliness to it. I'd highly recommend it!

Everything is absolutely clean and meticulously taken care of. If you know anything about Jiujitsu or wrestling, you'll know that cleanliness is almost tied with expertise and knowledge in criteria when looking for a spot. It might be a new name, but it's not a new person and if you look into him, you'll see that his associations are with many well-known associations and branching out into something new to bring new blood and new life to a very traditional sport. The studio refuses to assist members with account issues in person and instead directs everything to email. Unfortunately, when you do email --even multiple times--you receive no response. Trying to cancel a membership is unnecessarily difficult, and to make matters worse, my card continued to be charged after my cancellation. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, no one responded or took the simple step of stopping the recurring charges on their end. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service is incredibly frustrating. Members shouldn't have to chase down a business just to get a response about billing issues. Beyond the customer service, I also found this to be one of the least enjoyable Club Pilates locations. The overall experience simply doesn't compare to other studios. Thankfully, I'm switching to the Wilsonville studio, and the difference is night and day. The staff there is welcoming, professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. They provide the level of customer service that every member should expect - timely communication, respect, and a willingness to help. If you're considering Club Pilates in the area, I strongly recommend Wilsonville and would avoid the Sherwood location.

When the student returns to school they owe 3 months and can't cancel for another 30 days. This is illegal.

Beginning during the end stages of COVID restrictions, it was so nice to experience outdoor swimming, the hot tub, and social time with other members. Swimming is my main experience at the club so here is what you should know: * Six lane outdoor salt water pool that is open year round (I've done laps in the snow, sleet, and hail). * You can reserve four of the six lanes and it is very competitive to get times, especially during the warm weather months when you are competing for space with the swim team, swim lessons, and aqua aerobics classes. * The other two lanes are left open for first come first serve usage and swimmers are encouraged to share. * The outdoor hot tub is for 14+ over. I have only taken one yoga class at the club and all classes have you reserve your spot. If you cancel less than 12 hours in advance or are a no show, you are charged a $10 fee. Personally, I don't mind since the reservation system makes me accountable and if I don't have a reservation, I'm less likely to go workout. The club is a nice mix of serious athletes (I'm surrounded by masters swimmers and triathletes), retirees, and families. Prior to my membership, my teenage son was a member for two years and loved the weight room, sauna, and steam room. The club as been open for awhile and is definitely showing its age and is need of some maintenance upgrades in the pool area. That being said, I have been very happy with my membership here and the personal feel, literally being greet by name when entering and exiting, and the wonderful customer service. This club is very different from the large national chains, so to each their own. Definitely recommend a trial membership at this club as well as others in the area to see which is the best fit for you. [1] I am currently re-watching this classic sitcom and while not aging well in the post Me Too era, still good for a lot of laughs.

My kids are involved in various after school activities including Tae Kwon Do, piano lessons, horseback riding, swim team and ballet. Tae Kwon Do at MUSA however is their favorite activity of them all. And my favorite part? They say, "Yes Ma'am!" when I ask them to do something, a reflection of the respect and responsiveness they learn at MUSA. They are growing and developing in their skills and I've noticed the most progress in their fluidity of movement. It's beautiful to watch. In addition, Master Lacey's community presence and involvement is impressive. He gives back through very inexpensive after school programs. This is how my children became involved with MUSA in the first place. I'm glad Master Lacey is a part of our community and I'm grateful for the program he has created for my children to learn from and enjoy. read more

Master Lacey has been amazing and a wonderful influence on my little Conner. He has spent 20 years practicing martial arts and truly embodies what being a martial artist is all about. He is eager to go to class each week and gives 100% because he feels positively motivated. From what I can see, he has made enormous progress after just a few sessions, and it has overflowed into his behavior at home. Coach David also takes time to give bits of real-world guidance that my son and I are able to discuss on the way home. It also looks really fun! Sometimes I want to jump in! I recommend Portland Academy of Self Defense to people of all ages who are interested in self-defense or just great exercise in a positive, accepting environment.

I'm not sure that I could hang (pun intended) but some of the classes include practicing handstands, working on parkour and perfecting your dynamic strength.
