There is no trust between a customer and a store when they do not stand behind any product they sell. The argument to support a local store, or buy online, is hard to justify here.

When the mood strikes me, I'll venture over to Garage Band Brewing on Des Plaines St in downtown Plainfield, next door to Station One Smokehouse (with whom they share a symbiotic relationship)​. Their brews have hard rock-inspired names, like 'Stout It Out Loud' (a play on the KISS song), 'Hop Shaped Box' (Alice in Chains), and 'Hybrid Th30ry' (a 30 IBU pale ale with a nod to Linkin Park). Last time here, I got 12oz of the 'Don't Harsh My Mellow' for $6. I dig the packaging wrap on their 16oz cans of Dizzy Up the Blonde; a Marilyn Monroe-esque lady sitting on a 55gal drum, suggestively tugging on her red high heel with one hand and holding a chalice of beer in the other. What's not to like there? They have a trio of pinball tables that get sporadically rotated out. Previously they had Foo Fighters and Star Wars, now they've got Stranger Things, JAWS, and a gorgeous Godzilla premium model​ at $1 per play. There's a digital jukebox too, if you wanna pick tunes for the venue. * TL;DR * I lack the time and expertise to brew my own beer, so I'm happy to leave it to the pros. Garage Band is a small operation with big dreams, and they already have a handful of solid brews in circulation. I've been going to Foxes Den Meadery for a few months now, and I have nothing but positive things…read moreto say. The owner, Rico, is a friendly guy who likes to chat about what goes into each batch of mead he makes, and shows a clear passion for the craft. Each month (sometimes every other week) he has new meads on tap, which incentives regular visits. The flavor profiles of each drink usually differ greatly, and overall it's a fun experience very similar to visiting a winery, yet a more casual and relaxing environment. Foxes Den Meadery has two types of drinks on tap. Still meads, which are higher % ABV served room temp, and Sessions, which are about half the ABV and are served cold. If you get a chance to try the BOP Session (banana orange pineapple) which is one of their staples, I highly recommend it. It's a refreshing drink which is smooth and easy to drink, and I usually take some bottles (and soon to be cans) to go. The coconut variation of the BOP is one of my favorites, but Rico has made many iterations of his BOP that are each worth trying when you have the chance. If you're in the area, or willing to make a trip (which is worth it), I'd highly recommend visiting Foxes Den Meadery. They offer unique and interesting alcoholic drinks with robust flavor profiles. Easily one of the highlights of Yorkville.
