We had planned to hike Graveyard Field our first day in Asheville, but after sleeping in a little…read morelate and also getting over a recent back strain thought starting with Craggy Pinnacle may be better. It took us about 45 minutes to get there from Biltmore Village. I had read that parking could be an issue, but plenty of parking spots available on a late Monday morning in June. Usually when my husband and I are hiking I'm happy our kids aren't with us because I knew they would be complaining. However, this was one hike that I think they would probably enjoy and saw many families with big and little kids enjoying it. It's a pretty short way to the top (maybe 25 min tops) and while it was a nice little workout I didn't find it too difficult. The reward at the is a beautiful view of Asheville and the first thing I heard when we got up top was an adorable 4 year old boy saying "wow this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." It was picture perfect so we snapped some pics, enjoyed the view and headed down. Down was a little tricky and I was jealous of those who had walking sticks, but we made it down with no issues In fact, once down we felt like we needed a little more of a workout so added the nearby Craggy Gardens Trail, which was perfect. And after that we were ready for lunch so headed back to Asheville!

Love the conveyor belt that takes you back up to the top of the hills; that made the experience so much easier to do. There is a nice fire pit outside to warm up between snow tubing runs. Two hours was the perfect time to book for a leisurely but fun tubing pace. Would recommend bringing waterproof gloves and sunglasses for the snow glare. Otherwise, have fun here. At the end of the session, when you return your tube, you get some marshmallows to roast in the fire pit. Loved this place and had so much fun!

We took our toddler today for the first time and she absolutely loved it. Making a reservation online was simple and easy. It wasn't too crowded and we went at least 10 times in an hour- as many times as we could make it back up the magic carpet. There are restrooms on site, a little shack serving hot cocoa and doling out marshmallows to roast once you're done tubing. The slope isn't too steep, but it's a fun activity for anyone (especially these Floridians).

My issues were with communication and their lack of transparency. We made our reservation online and when we got our confirmation email, there was no check in or check out time. It is also not available on their website. When we called, we got a voicemail for the Hot Springs high school & laughing waters campground. Weird. But okay. Left a voicemail, never got a call back. There are also no check in instructions. So we arrived at 3:45 on the day of check in. No station, no instructions, nothing. So we call again and a woman answers and is slightly annoyed that we are calling. Informs us that it is self check in (whatever that means) and I s not until 4 pm because they all work. But since we are there we can go ahead and set up camp. Campers should be aware that while their photos depict largely wooded areas, they are not. The campsites are set up in a field on the edge of the river. So you do have trees, but they are largely at the edge of the river. A few campsites had more trees, but ours was in the field (blue heron site). This is fine, but the photos make it seem like you're in the woods. And I'm the summer, I would imagine that the direct sun is brutal. They advertise eco toilets - it's a porta-John. Literally nothing more. Also advertised a first aid station which we did not see, did not find signs for, nor was it in the confirmation email. We didn't need it. But if we had, who knows. A map of the property would have been nice. All in all. I would definitely recommend Laughing Waters. But I think they should be more transparent about what their property and procedure looks like.
