In my case, I struck something sharp in the water, deflating my tube. Another group that started the same time we did called the owners for me, and in just a few minutes, I had a new tube! Gloria gave us enough space on the guided tour to make us feel like we were one with the horses and nature but at the same time was right there to provide assistance and to guide us along the path. It was our first time horseback riding and the staff provided a fun and safe experience. If you're in Asheville, it's worth the drive out to Pisgah National Forest to go horseback riding. Once we get there we're told we can't ride because they "weren't sure if you all would show up". There was no reason for them to think this. They tried telling us that we didn't have a reservation, then when they saw my name with the number of people in the time slot we had booked they started making more excuses. This is a terrible way to run a business. Own up to your mistakes and honor your reservations. The only good thing out of this was that we found a better place to ride. If you're looking for a place with extremely kind staff members, beautiful views, and well loved horses go to Sandy Bottom Trail Rides. The rides at both places are priced the same too so save yourself some trouble and avoid Bucktown Stables.

Love the conveyor belt that takes you back up to the top of the hills; that made the experience so much easier to do. There is a nice fire pit outside to warm up between snow tubing runs. Two hours was the perfect time to book for a leisurely but fun tubing pace. Would recommend bringing waterproof gloves and sunglasses for the snow glare. Otherwise, have fun here. At the end of the session, when you return your tube, you get some marshmallows to roast in the fire pit. Loved this place and had so much fun!

We took our toddler today for the first time and she absolutely loved it. Making a reservation online was simple and easy. It wasn't too crowded and we went at least 10 times in an hour- as many times as we could make it back up the magic carpet. There are restrooms on site, a little shack serving hot cocoa and doling out marshmallows to roast once you're done tubing. The slope isn't too steep, but it's a fun activity for anyone (especially these Floridians).

Anyway, they have great info about the area, and can give good directions and suggestions for nearby hikes.

My issues were with communication and their lack of transparency. We made our reservation online and when we got our confirmation email, there was no check in or check out time. It is also not available on their website. When we called, we got a voicemail for the Hot Springs high school & laughing waters campground. Weird. But okay. Left a voicemail, never got a call back. There are also no check in instructions. So we arrived at 3:45 on the day of check in. No station, no instructions, nothing. So we call again and a woman answers and is slightly annoyed that we are calling. Informs us that it is self check in (whatever that means) and I s not until 4 pm because they all work. But since we are there we can go ahead and set up camp. Campers should be aware that while their photos depict largely wooded areas, they are not. The campsites are set up in a field on the edge of the river. So you do have trees, but they are largely at the edge of the river. A few campsites had more trees, but ours was in the field (blue heron site). This is fine, but the photos make it seem like you're in the woods. And I'm the summer, I would imagine that the direct sun is brutal. They advertise eco toilets - it's a porta-John. Literally nothing more. Also advertised a first aid station which we did not see, did not find signs for, nor was it in the confirmation email. We didn't need it. But if we had, who knows. A map of the property would have been nice. All in all. I would definitely recommend Laughing Waters. But I think they should be more transparent about what their property and procedure looks like.

Uncle johnny's has built back bigger and better after the catastrophic hurricane helene floods. Huge new outfitter ON TRAIL! New bunk rooms and new private rooms all with new matresses. The outfitter has a full resupply, carries thermarest sleep systems, enlightened equipment quilts, kilts and puffers, topo shoes, and much more! Beautiful chill atmosphere with access to the nolichucky river.

As a USMC Veteran with a VA Service Dog, I had arrived at Johnnys to them not even wanting me to…read morestay and asking me to leave. after a brief discussion of about 30 minutes I was able to stay two nights. upon waking up, I was refunded my last night and asked to leave due to them having too many dogs at the location. Most being employees. will never be staying there again. Resupply is taxed at over 100% and sometimes closer to 200% in profits. Not satisfied and will NEVER return. camp across the street at the river and pay the $5 to shower if need be.
