I did not know that VARICOSE veins were the cause of the consistent pain, heaviness and swelling in my legs. Dr. Powell is calm, gentle and has great bedside manners. His team is great. I have been under their care for over three years. I am so thankful I found them. My family doctor's P. A. suggested that massages might help my pain. (I went to two different therapists. The first left me bruised and in worse pain. A week later, when the pain subsided, I went to a second one. She took one look at the back of my legs and suggested I see a vein specialist. She did not even finish my session, she did not want to cause further pain or injury. I paid and left. It was 4:00 pm. and looked online where I found that I could be seen the next morning by a vein specialist in a nearby town. That experience left me frustrated. Their first questions were about money. Although their advertisement said that an assessment was free, before the doctor saw me, I was told that I needed to schedule several procedures. The doctor saw me briefly but did not examine me, told me that I needed vein treatment and sent me back to his staff who wanted me to schedule several procedures without further explanations and talked more about money. I felt pressured and uncomfortable with their process. After more online research, I found Dr. Powell. Thank goodness for Texas Vein and Aesthetics. Dr. Powell has given me my life back. Before, leg pain prevented me from walking! Immediately after the first procedure, the heaviness and pain in the treated leg dissipated. Treatment of the other leg gave similar results. I have had several treatments. The treatments are not painful. The staff is friendly, caring and patient oriented. I can't say enough, how much they helped me! Obviously :). First, Victor Fuselier will expertly examine and assess YOUR condition, advise and inform you. From my first session with Victor, I was at peace as his explanations reassured me. Nikki the nurse who greeted us and setup everything for my mother-in-law including helping relax and place the IV. Talk about perfect bedside manner this was exactly what she needed because her anxiety was just overwhelming. They spoke with her very soft explaining everything that was going to take place and all possible options then the provided same information to me making sure all parties understood. The procedure was done with local anesthetic and patients are semi-conscious which is good since older & some young people don't handle those heavy anesthesia meds very well. I know for me its not pretty so i appreciate the fact they are very sympathetic to peoples needs and concerns. The other great surprise was they are in no rush to get you up & out the door, they want you to feel good with no concerns or worries before leaving. They did three rounds of schlerotherapy that did nothing. So, they insisted on the sonogram again, so I agreed. They said I had three faulty veins. Well, I was confused as the vascular surgeon said I had none. So, I went to another vascular surgeon in Dallas and he did another sonogram and found nothing. Be careful when choosing this practice as they are a money making business.
