The only problem is that when the 2 weeks of early election voting is taking place, no special accommodations are made for the handicapped voters waiting in line. Standing up for more than 10 mins. becomes painful. The village officials should require the election judges using these premises to accommodate the handicapped. And to bring more than two voting machines, so the line doesn't back up out into the street and alley, like it has been.

The children's librarians are extremely helpful in helping me find books about certain topics/themes, and they always seem eager to assist. I studied for the NCLEX in the library's quiet room 11 years ago now, and now I'm coming here to use one of their many study rooms to do grad school homework! Nonresidents can book the study rooms for an hour at a time, or longer if nobody else needs it. Most of them have seating for up to 6 people and huge whiteboard on the wall, along with markers and an eraser. The library is the perfect place to get any kind of work done. I personally love the inexpensive printers and the card readers that allow you to pay with your credit card. There is a dedicated librarian who works at the tech desk that helps troubleshoot the computers and the printers. I will gladly continue to go out of my way to frequent this library, both for checking out books for my son and for homework/studying. I have not received such good service elsewhere.

I have an informal goal of visiting each Chicago Public Library branch (20 down, 61 to go) and since Dunning had story time (at 11, which is atypical for the CPL branches we've been to before) we headed over. This branch is a relatively new one, having opened in 2011 on land donated by the Chicago Board of Education. It's one of the smaller branches, with one large room and then a meeting room, but there is a fairly large park-like area next to the branch (not an official city of Chicago park, but it is a well-kept green space with paths and lots of benches). The story time was fantastic, truly. I'm not sure if there were two librarians or one plus a volunteer mom, because there was a woman who played a couple songs on her guitar. (My kiddo may want a ukulele for Christmas because she was super into the guitar.) The place was packed, too--about two dozen children, plus their adults. They need to get this branch a bigger room! There was a full 30 minutes of songs, stories, and games. All that was followed by another 30 minutes of playtime, where the librarians brought out different toys for the kids to play with. My little one is just starting to walk, so I think she enjoyed the extra space to wander and jump and crawl, kids to play with, and lots of toys she's never seen. The librarian(s?) were enthusiastic and friendly. The one who is definitely a librarian since she was running most of it introduced herself to us during the play time, which was really nice and made me feel super welcome. I haven't felt that way at all library story times, and I very much appreciated it. There's a dedicated parking lot, though it's not too big; maybe a dozen spaces or fewer. Luckily there seemed to be plenty of street parking and then some folks seemed to be from the neighborhood because they walked to the library. (Public transportation is probably nonexistent this far west--definitely for trains, but could be busses too.) I wish that some of the library branches had email lists you could join or something for their specific events, because with 81 branches it's easy to miss things. This is a branch I will be keeping my eye on and though unfortunately I'm not usually home on the days they host story time, I will look forward to bringing the wee one again for stories or another event.

Most important for me are the free wifi and the availability of private work rooms for 1-3 people; the rooms are available on an hourly basis. If you don't have a computer they do have a computer room; I didn't try that but I presume their computers are available per hour. A message to the other reviewer: if you get to the library early enough you can get one of the rooms and stay there for 2, maybe three hours. I believe you have to be a resident of Schiller Park to use the facilities or at least check out a book or video; it's OK if anyone corrects me on this. And the staff is friendly too.

As a neighborhood library it will often have a lot of children sometimes they can be "loud" but that's the reason for having public libraries in neighborhoods. Also, the neighborhood libraries are havens for elderly patrons.I don't see why any one would complain about a library. Most people have internet at home and everything that could possibly be available at a branch library is online. Sometimes you may run into "published" authors researching their next work. But don't be too intimidated - it doesn't take much these days in the era of "digital" publishing to namedrop yourself as an "author." A great little library that does its job. Tip: If you aspire to be a "published author" and are "constantly" putting terms into "quotes," you may need to "reevaluate" your writing "style" and "explore" another "hobby." And if you want to spar with other reviewers and churn out a novella of a review for a neighborhood library, you need to get a life.
