If you plan to travel internationally frequently, it's best to apply for Global Entry online and…read morecomplete the application in advance. Once submitted, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will review it, and you'll then need to schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Ours was at Newark Liberty International Airport. It's mandatory to arrive on time, so we parked at Terminal B short-term parking to make things easier. The Global Entry Enrollment Center is located in Terminal B on the ground floor, behind the domestic baggage carousel. If you get a little turned around as we did, just stop by the welcome help kiosk, and someone will gladly point you in the right direction. Be sure to bring your current passport and your driver's license (or a bill showing your current address). After checking in, you'll be seated until an officer comes out and calls the time of your scheduled appointment. Once inside, they'll fingerprint you (via digital scan), review your application, and ask a few routine questions. The process is straightforward and painless. It is essentially a background and integrity check to confirm you're a low-risk traveler before granting the five-year membership. My interview was brief and professionally handled. Everything ran like clockwork and was completely hassle-free. I was in and out within five minutes. Overall, I was very impressed by the staff's friendliness and professionalism, and by how efficient the entire process was.

Waited 5 minutes to get called in: phone OFF, passport & drivers license in hand. Barely 2 minutes at secure counter to identify myself, answer basic questions & fingerprints. Done. 3.5 hrs later I received my email confirmation. Easy peasy !

IMPOSSIBLE TO FILE. IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY…read more USCIS encourages online filing. Their system requires an "Online Access Code" they never sent. I submitted a service request with passport and case details proving I am the applicant. Their response: "We are not able to provide the information you have requested. It is not clear that you are the applicant." I am the applicant. Holding their own notice with my name on it. They cannot verify I am myself. The response ends with: "This mailbox is not monitored. Please do not reply." Cannot file online - no access code provided. Cannot get help - they claim they cannot verify me. Cannot reply - mailbox unmonitored. Cannot reach anyone - phone maze, useless chatbot, no email. They collect $2,840 in fees upfront. Filing fee. Fraud prevention fee. Premium processing fee. Then make completing the process impossible. The Contact Center is designed to prevent human contact. Emma chatbot loops endlessly. Phone system redirects until you hang up. No email support exists. When applicants face issues with their own cases, USCIS hides behind Privacy Act excuses to avoid helping. They blame applicants for systemic failures they created. This agency collects billions in fees annually while providing no functional support system. Applicants are treated as problems to be avoided, not people to be served. If you must interact with USCIS, document everything. Expect no help. Budget for legal representation because their "self-service" system is designed to fail.

I was very disappointed in how rude the Field Officer was. There was a clear bias from the start…read morebecause she "was not even supposed to interview us". The backstory is my Wife and I are from CT but our appointment was scheduled here in Newark and from the beginning our officer seemed annoyed that she had to deal with someone clearly not from NJ. She even said out loud I shouldn't even be doing this. She took out her frustration on us and didn't give a fair interview. How can we trust the Govt who prides themselves on being fair and just when they hire a woman like this who clearly took out her frustrations on a citizen and his wife. This does not sound just or fair at all. I highly recommend the officers get some Professional Development on human decency.
