Getting through the gate was interesting since we weren't on a list. Not too long of a wait before we were approved for entry. A friend of a friend rented a pontoon boat and a pavilion for a family reunion cookout over Memorial Day weekend. The pavilions are a good size. There was over 50 of us and we had plenty of room. Picnic tables, Grill and outlets for electricity. Restrooms were clean! There's quite a few different boats to rent. We had a great time on our boat. The scenery is beautiful! Great time was had by all!

They took our name when we walked in and had us wait in a room with not enough chairs for everyone who was waiting. There was no order. They took walk INS before taking people who actually had an appointment. I heard one man say he had already waited over an hour. It was chaos. The girl working was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt. There whole place had a very temporary feel to it like it could pick up and move in the middle of the night. They had weird attempts at decor with the price tags still on. One of the pieces of decor was ironically an hour glass. Also ironic that I was applying for a pre check to avoid lines at the airport when I ended up having to wait 40 minutes for an appointment that literally took 5 minutes. I just hope I get my pre check number but I have very little faith in these people.

First, this is an Idemia-operated TSA Enrollment Center, and we do not manage the appointment booking system. All appointments, confirmations, and scheduling quirks are handled through their national system. That means when 15 people show up early for an appointment that's already running behind due to earlier system delays--chaos, as you called it--can absolutely happen. Not because we don't care, but because we're trying to do the best with what we've been given. Second, walk-ins are only accepted when there are no-shows or we're catching up between appointments. It's not favoritism or disorganization--it's triage. And when someone "waited over an hour," it's often because they arrived before their scheduled time, then expected to be seen immediately. That's not how appointments work, anywhere. Third, our priority is efficient processing, not fashion shows. We're in the business of getting you TSA-ready, not curating your Pinterest board. If our staff is respectful, professional, and handling high volumes while wearing sweatpants, we see that as a superpower--not a scandal. Finally, you mentioned the decor. We're a federally contracted enrollment center, not a boutique. If an hourglass with a price tag threw off your vibe, we truly hope that's the worst part of your travel day. We do hope you get your PreCheck number soon--it's a five-minute process with long-term benefits. But for now, we recommend directing appointment complaints to Idemia, who can actually address them. We just check IDs, take fingerprints, and try to keep things moving in the middle of a flawed but federally regulated system. The…read morestaff (esp Maurice) was wonderful to work with, the space was really unique, and the location cannot be beat. There are a few quirks with the space (small elevator, lots of stairs, a bit hot (on a very hot evening and lots of dancing)) but the quirks are what makes it such a memorable place to have an event. Our guests LOVED it and still talk about how cool the space is. Thanks to all the staff at the Naval Lodge! P.S. Our caterer, Well Dunn, knows the space and how to really make it work.

Isaiah and Rachel were wonderful to work with, tolerating our need to see the space several times prior to the event. We rented equipment (tables, linens, silver, glasses) from the Lodge which was both convenient and economical. The staff worked well with our caterers (Susan Gage Catering). We highly recommend this space for events. It is architecturally interesting and everyone who walks in has "Wow!" come out of their mouths when first entering.

It's mostly a pretty clean base. For marines: Main Side units specifically IPAC/Admin building are the most toxic leaderships ever. If you are a marine and this is your first duty station I'm really sorry for you. I had the worst experience in these unit, It really made me want to get out asap. Interacting with the different ranks of military personnel was actually pretty neat as they were not stone face screamers. Within some of the certain spaces/buildings we occupied they were a little run down, yet some renovations were taking place. We didn't get to break for lunch inside the Bruce Mess Hall, yet our Hosts staged one of training classrooms into a mini dining area for us. There are two different points of entrance off of I-95, one is exit 148 - South Entrance & exit 150-A - North Entrance aka the Main Gate with full on checkpoints. In addition to the personnel, the base/area consists of family members, military students/FBI/DEA, civilians & contractors. Both Amtrak & Virginia Railway Express train services the Quantico area.
