Came here on a Monday morning, no one was in line. I needed to get a box to mail something home to myself, and the priority boxes weren't deep enough. Luckily they have boxes on hand for purchase. I picked the box I needed, filled the box with my items, taped it shut, addressed it and walked right up to the attendant and paid for it to send it home. They received a letter at 2:32 in the afternoon and they're open 24 hours and it takes them two days for it to leave and be sent to its destination.. That's just ridiculous. Kudos for having passport service at this Main Post Office for RVA. But it's slow... and the folks are overwrought. The drive thru is handy, but you should see it at tax time! Everyone trying to get their envelopes in by midnight! It can get hectic and crowded. The staff and managers need to step it up and provide better service to this busy and productive post office. It's not much to look at, and really should be refurbished to make this government building stand out. If you just need stamps or a package mailed, you'll be better off heading th the post office on Chamberlayne & Wilder. read more

If your mail comes through this post office, please opt for a post office box/parcel locker. Your packages are less likely to be "lost" or "incorrectly delivered" if the packages never leave the post office. I now have a P.O. Box because this post office admitted to delivering my package to the wrong mailbox back in June 2022. The post office manager suggested that I look through my neighbors' mailboxes. The post office manager then proceeded to say that I could submit a claim because "from our (USPS') point of view, we delivered the package to the correct mailbox." This is strange, as the manager just said the USPS incorrectly delivered the package. Also, I returned an incorrectly delivered package (not my package, not even a package that belonged to someone that lived on my road) the same day. Finally, thanks to whichever "standup" Spotsylvania resident received my package - I am so glad you had enough integrity to return the package to the post office (oh wait, you didn't). Seriously, please get yourself a P.O. Box. Despite filing claims and appeals for my package, I am out $150.00 because the USPS pretty much tells you to "go pound sand." read more

This is for the Passport Office only. What a SH** SH**!!! Seriously. I walked in ~ 7:45am and they had 2 parties waiting, one being helped. No one was there to organize anything - no signs indicating the process. Nothing. We all patiently waited for 20+ minutes & when 2 more parties came, we said to grab a number even though there was no one calling them or displaying a # close. When I got up & asked, I was told that the other woman would help me after she was done with the person she was helping. She finished with him only to disappear into the backroom for another 20 minutes. Whoever developed that space did not factor in that the workers who "disappear" into the backroom can be heard pretty well by the people waiting for them to do their job. "OMG, really? You did what last night, with who?" They're seriously getting paid for this crap? I couldn't wait any longer b/c I had to leave for my own job. I'm not sure what is so difficult about seeing appts., following an established process and being professional but it is apparently well beyond close to everyone working there. When I returned, I had an appt. and came in with the confirmation. I waited behind the gentleman talking to the Rep. (unmasked) at the front desk. Despite everyone else being masked and me being ~ 5 feet away from the man, she rudely waved me back. The man left and she did not say anything to me after ~ 5 minutes. Really? I had to tell her that I was there for my appt. She did not look me in the eye once and proceeded to ask me questions; when was I going, do I have my application, etc. Apparently she was the one servicing my appointment b/c after quickly asking questions and taking my app. she just said a number. "Put my card in." "Excuse me?" I said. "Can you please tell me what the breakdown is?" That was a BIG ask and she spouted off some crap that I couldn't hear. I was under the gun to get back to my job & needed to get my passport app. in so I didn't have time. And frankly wanted not to waste any more time in that poor, poor excuse for a "essential" office. For all that I read about this office, I thought it might be OK. Nope, my experience showed that the folks working there are just miserable, lazy, unprofessional people and whoever is managing that misrun excuse for an office needs to be fired. if i could give negative stars i would!! stopped delivering our mail. , stopped with our scheduled pick up. all because we have a small 17lbs service dog at my shop. and the regular mail man all of a sudden decided she was a threat. had many conversations with the supervisor at this branch and they have yet to deliver or pick up our mail. a supervisor david even came out to my shop and "evaluated" my service animal. this is the most ridiculous thing i have ever experienced. my business shipped over 200 packages a month! and this is how we are treated with my service animal. read more

Made a mistake on 1 of the money orders and had to buy another one $1.70 , The Lady postal worker actually gave me $1000.00 back out the register and handed it back to me so I could give it back to her to get another money order. I said you're kidding right? I'm getting another one! One of the locations that is a passport acceptance facility in RVA. If you plan ahead when going to the passport office here things run a lot more smoothly. (Fill out all info prior to arriving). Walk-in hours are Monday through Friday from 9-2. Appointments are scheduled four weeks in advance if you'd rather an appointment. They accept debit, money orders, and checks (no credit cards). When you enter on the left side is the passport office so don't think you'll have to stand on the usual line. There is seating near the office and you'll have to take a number. When I went there was only one person working, but it went pretty quickly. read more

The service and staff at this place are absolute trash. We had a package being held at this location and they claim that they have not received it but also acknowledged that it was scanned at this location. Like how? They clearly looked confused with no desire to help. We had to come back three times due to their incompetence! They told us twice that their supervisor will contact us about the package, but we never received the call and we just got a notification that the package was sent back to sender. Had a very important package coming through, that was supposed to be delivered in two days. We're now currently on the third day, with no result, so after digging I found out which post office it was coming from, and it was this one. The second I got to the counter, and mentioned my issue, the rep at the desk (J. Griffis) threw his hands up and was rather rude. The man he sent me to wasn't any better, cutting me off when I tried to speak, on top of other things. Unprofessional, rude, and obviously careless. I still have not received my equipment that I need for my job. EDIT: Was just told it went missing and to report fraud, after waiting for almost a half hour. I've asked to speak to a supervisor, which he had said "I already spoke to him". I guess he misheard me because I wanted to speak with him personally. Will make a second edit with the result. I hate this post office with every fiber of my being. I don't think I've ever experienced one worse than this. I always have problems with my mail and am forced to go pick up my orders when I PAID FOR DELIVERY. if they are going to make me pick it up there should at least be an attempt to deliver it. The man working in the Passport office on November 21st was so rude and gave me completely wrong information, despite my having all required forms filled out. The only thing that was possibly wrong was the picture I had taken at CVS may not meet requirements. He did not offer to take my picture while I was there even though I know that is something he does. Not quite sure why people who interact with people feel the need to be so rude. If there is any option to go to any other post office, take it. This post office is super inefficient, and the workers very clearly hate their jobs. I came in to ship leasing documents and needed to get them sent over to NY ASAP. I asked the worker if I should overnight it or use priority because priority is stated to get there from 1-3 business days. I thought that she would have an idea when a package from VA might get to NY (and if by chance the documents might make it up to NY in 1-2 says based on how close it is) and she just barked "Priority shipping is 3-5 business days. Priority express is 1 day." like I couldn't read the sign over her head. Thanks for nothing! I agreed to pay for the express packaging, then right before I was about to pay she just left to the back of the office without saying a word. She was gone for awhile (a lunch break? To watch tv?) so I had to go to another lady who equally hated her life. Terrible service. What's even the point of these employees. read more

Another post office that's open on Saturday. Even better these guys don't lock their doors immediately at 5 pm like all the rest do around here. They leave the doors to the main office open until 6 pm. The doors to the counter clerks close promptly at 5, but you can still get into the PO boxes, drop boxes and automated station. They have the largest drop boxes I've ever seen and they have drive up envelope drop boxes out front. The drive up boxes will take standard envelopes and probably those big office envelopes as long as they're not too thick. If you show up a little after 5, say, before 5:15 there will still be a guy at the door to the counter clerks office letting folks who got there before 5 out after they talk to the clerks. If you somehow have a box that's too big to drop in the drop box, either prepaid or done at the automated station he'll *usually* take it to drop through the counter clerk station. I wouldn't count on it but it's about 90% likely. So the good news is that if you're running late or can't get out of work before 5 M-F you can get in and use the automated station and drop your package in the giant drop box. Last mail pickup is at 5, as it is in all post offices, but it'll mail out with the 9 am pickup in the morning. Also, this office has the latest Saturday hours of any post office in the Richmond area, 9-2, as opposed to most, 9-1. It can be a little confusing to find because the intersection it goes to is an X instead of the standard cross. Just look for the GIANT white building across from the bleachers in the Union football field. read more

Went here because it was a saturday and this is the only post office in the area that's open, but the person who served me seemed like she really would have rather been somewhere else. That's fair, who wants to spend their Saturday working in a post office? I said I needed to send a letter overseas, and having no idea how that worked I expected to be given a list of options for delivery times, tracking, etc. etc., but the lady just took one stamp, put it straight on the envelope and demanded a couple of dollars for it. I mailed a package from Midlothian, VA May 3, 2019. It went out immediately to the Richmond Distribution Center where it was held for 5 days. It was estimated to be delivered May 6th. It is now May 13th and it's still in transit to Dallas, GA. When I called the Brook Road office for help, 804.775.6304, I got into an endless maze of call forwarding, prompts, full voicemails and notifications. It was amazing, but soon became comical. Go try for yourself. Let FedEx and UPS compete, they'll do better and so will the USPS, if they survive. End the monopoly. The service is horrible. Just had a package delivered and it was left int the pouring rain, even though we have a perfectly visible, dry and convenient screened in porch that they delivery guy has to drive by twice (coming and leaving our driveway). He has done this on multiple occasions and I completely understand there are times when a package is left and it suddenly rains later in the day, but this has not been my case. I live in 23225. Been following a tracking number of something to be delivered to me. So far it's been from distribution center to 23235 and returned. 23236 and returned. finally been at 23225 for a couple of days without delivery. I leave mail on ledge above boxes that should be either mailed or returned for wrong address and it sits there until I happen to be going out and can drop at Post office. Rarely, if ever, had a problem with my Glen Allen apartment box & mail. Bottom line I'm just sick of USPS in Richmond. I am handicapped, do not drive, depend on mail to deliver some of my needs. read more
