Going to the post office has always been simple. Buying post stamps and shipping off items have…read morebeen my go-to at this location. For this visit, we needed to get a collection of stamps. Sophia usually handled that arena by mostly ordering online, but we were running short so I was given the task to pick some up. It was right after I got off work so I stopped by on the way home. Foot traffic was very minimal which resulted in no wait at all. I actually stood in line for no longer than 15 seconds. As stated earlier, it was for buying a book of stamps. To my surprise, the cost for the book was over $14. Back when I used to ship items off by mail, stamps cost under $10. It's crazy to see the prices go up each year. Unfortunately, we have to accept the changes and move on. Besides the price increase, the transaction went smooth as usual. I know this location will always come in handy for yours truly. Till next time :)

The lady that works at this post office is ridiculous. I 100% understand you close at 5. I showed up at 4:45 because that's when I could get there. This lady was yelling at me the WHOLE time complaining that "I showed up right before they close" I grabbed the 2 bubble wrap packages I needed and went to put the items in there (hadnt even been there 1 minute) and she yelled "I'll do it" and grabbed the stuff out of my hands even though she had no idea which package went with which packing slip. I got irritated and told her she needs to give me a minute, good thing I checked because she had the wrong package with the wrong slip. She complained the whole time talking about "Everyone shows up right before I close, I'm sick of this I need to get off work on time, don't you want to get off work on time, management needs to change the hours we need to close at 4:30 because you guys are ridiculous showing up before we close, I can't do this" blah blah blah. I get it she wanted to go home. But I was hurrying, and would've been done in 2 seconds but her complaining and yelling made everything take even longer. People showed up after me with packages that literally just needed to be scanned, and she turned them down and closed the door, it wasn't even 5 yet. If you hate it that much, get a different job. Dont berate customers for dropping off packages when you work at the damn post office.

The folks from Suffolk may suffer a bit because of this busy post office. This branch located on…read moreMain Street running through 460, serves a rather populated area for a larger city like Suffolk, and because of that, the customer service can be lacking at times. Oftentimes the mailing centers are empty or low on supplies. But if you just need stamps or to mail a package, you can skip the lengthy lines and use the convenient self serve kiosk! That's what I do! This P.O. stretches down the block with a brick facade on one side and glass panels on the other. Dropping off mail is a breeze with the half circle one way entry. The hours are from M-F 8:30-5:00, closing for lunch between 12:30-1:30. Saturday shorter hours 10:00-12:00. No passport services at this location.

I visited the Post office on August 15,2026 and spoke with a clerk. She said my mail carrier was on vacation, but I would receive all of my mail that day. Today is the 19th and I still have not received my missing mail. Another visit to the Post office today produced no results. The canned response he kept repeating to any question was " all the mail will be delivered today". I guess this is another case of a postal work delivering the file to the trash bin. The terrible audit this office received is well deserved. Petro

Had a package priority mail, with tracking number, inbound from the Department of State, Passport…read moreServices. I have informed delivery and on 10/02 /25 I received an email update stating the item was out for delivery. That afternoon around 5 pm. I checked my mail box. It only had an ad from Langley FCU, and no package. I opened my phone and checked my informed delivery email which said the package was delivered at 4:01 pm., left in mailbox. Not to my address it wasn't. So I reviewed my security camera footage and saw the mail carrier coming through the neighborhood about ten minutes after 4:00 pm. I watched him place the ad flyer in my box and walk away. So if my package was delivered ten minutes before the carrier got to my address where was it delivered to? Also I noticed the carrier had air pods in both ears. God only knows what he was listening to. I checked the USPS web site and it is a rule that employees aren't allowed to wear air pods or headphones while delivering the mail. It's totally unprofessional and a safety hazard. You think the average human being with any work ethic would be on the job doing their best for the employer that hired and is paying them. That's just common respect from my perspective. Not to mention people are paying for and counting on a reliable business to carry out their mission and give them the service they deserve and expect. Not the USPS! I avoid them like the plague if at all possible. If you want your mail to be delivered use FED X, or UPS. Find alternate ways to get you business done. Apparently with all the complaints and no real effort on their part to fix anything, they don't deserve your business anymore. This particular branch is the worst I have ever dealt with. I have lived in Newport News at the same address for 33 years I never had a problem with mail except about the last ten years. I'm getting others mail, one piece recently was address to a residence with the same number but a street about two miles away. I have had mail stolen at the postal office where it was mailed. Had bills and payments go missing and never recovered. Had a check stolen from the mail and altered for $6,900.00 more than I wrote the check for, and to a different person than the check was intended. I filed stolen mail reports with the postal inspectors office and a number of complaints about missing mail, or misdelivered mail. Either the carriers can't read or just don't care. I happen to believe it's the later. How do you think they would feel if it was their mail? Is there no fear of God in the hearts of people in this country anymore? You know he is watching right?
