In general, all of the doctors said that this problem could not be permanently fixed, but they could help me manage my pain. I will never know if I was responsible for not getting the care I needed because I chose doctors with the wrong medical specialties, nevertheless less I decided to take a different approach. I called Dr Mark Prasarn an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. After Speaking with Dr. Prasarn, I left his office feeling inspired. Nothing was fixed yet, but I was filled with hope. Dr. Prasarn said the cause of my back pain was Spondilolithesis. He also said that it wasn't as bad as some others that he has seen in the past and that the surgery could fix my problem. I really appreciate the fact that he spent a considerable amount of time with me that day. Dr. Prasarn has a very methodical approach regarding care. He first recommended that I try physical therapy, if there was little to no change in my pain level we would then move on to pain management. If the pain level persists, we would try surgery. It is good game plan for him to start with the least invasive strategies until he could provide a decision that matched my personal needs. I did eventually have surgery. After just two weeks from the day of my surgery the pain was completely gone. I waited four months to write this review because I wanted to see if there would be any recurring issues concerning my back pain. I am happy to report that I feel great!! I have not experienced any pain (nothing!). For me this surgery has been life changing. I can't tell you all the special accommodations that were made for me just to take a walk. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Prasarn a very good doctor and really a very nice person. He has the credentials and it is very obvious that he has a strong desire for helping people. From the very first visit, he took the time to really listen, ask detailed questions about my pain, and explain everything in a way that made me feel completely comfortable. He never rushed me, and I always felt like a person he genuinely cared about -- not just another appointment on the schedule. Both surgeries have gone incredibly well, and this most recent recovery has been smooth and surprisingly easy. My scarring is also extremely minimal -- I have three small incision sites on each hip, about 2 cm each, and you can barely even see the ones from my first surgery. That alone speaks to his skill. His team is fantastic too. They're always available for questions, they check in, and they helped me navigate my short-term disability paperwork so I didn't miss out on any pay. The day-after-surgery phone call meant a lot, and they made sure my pain was well managed (which it absolutely was -- very minimal!). I also really appreciate the physical therapy support. Dr. Harris set me up with an app to follow daily, and I meet with my PT twice a week, so I feel guided every step of the way. He's optimistic about my full recovery, and honestly, that optimism has rubbed off on me. Even the downtown office is easy to find, which is always a bonus. Looking at my MRI, you couldn't tell if there was actually any tears, due to how minuscule it looked. I was worried that I was making it all up in my head. Dr. Harris performed a few physical tests and measurements on me during my evaluation. Like many dancers and athletes with hip issues, I had a labral tear, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), and hip dysplasia. Dr. Harris is incredibly knowledgable and very informative! He helped me become educated about my hip. We scheduled an operation date after minimal invasive techniques didn't work. The operation was quick, yet thorough. I came in at 6-7 AM, and was out by 12:30 PM. I highly recommend Dr. Harris for all your hip needs!
