I've tried and tried to use Ute cab for doctors appointments. For the most part all drivers but one have been super nice. I've scheduled pick up times a week ahead of time but every time they've been a minimum of 30 minutes late picking me up. Doctors won't let you be an hour late for appointments. Getting home was a bigger problem and bad joke. I waited on average of an hour to two for a pick up to get home. So if you have 8 hours to give up for a 5 minute appointment go ahead. If not walking would be faster. Serious nice doesn't get me where I need to be. read more

This company never shows up and has zero customer service. Tried them twice. The first time no taxi arrived even after repeated phone calls to the company wherein they indicated the cab was ten minutes away. Forty minutes later they admitted they had no taxi available. We almost missed a flight the first time. The second time, I called ten minutes before the cab was to arrive only to hear the dispatcher announce they had no record of the reservation-- although I had an emailed confirmation. agoNEW My dad is a us Marine Corp veteran who has to use Ute cab to get to dialysis. He can no longer drive and my mom is working two jobs. Sometimes they call and wake everyone up at 3:30 am to let us know if he has a ride or not but then are mean to my dad when he calls them at 4:30 am to see if someone is going to pick him because if not then he has to find someone to take him to work. This is something that the VA pays for and he is often treated poorly. His life literally depends on these rides. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't. Sadly it is not like anyone has a choice because where we live is so far out. Also, one of them ran over a new lawnmower that I bought and didn't even own up to it and sadly can't even complain because he needs them so badly. We understand that people are not dependable and they are having staffing issues but often times they just treat him like crap. Horrible business. Just horrible read more

This cab company as well as yellow cab are the worst, well I guess there O.K. as long as you have a iPad so you can watch a couple of movies while waiting on them to pick you up. The average wait times are 2 to 4 hours and sometimes longer. And a lot of times you end up finding another way. Cold day in you know where before I ever call them again, been burned too many times by both companies. I say both as they are run by the same person. read more

I rarely use taxi service, but Lyft options were 1 hr 40 min out. Taxi arrived 24 min. late. I was 5 min late for a 30 min.appt. Driver didn't have change, the oldest trick in the book. Why 4 stars and not 5? Out of 15 fares over the past 12 months I had one cabbie who gave me the vibe that I simply didn't exist as a human being. Conversely, 14 other drivers have the guts to come to one of the most unforgiving and fault finding States in the Nation where not a single muffin meadow guest of honor can escape going unpunished. Oops! Utah is becoming a dark land politically speaking (hold my tongue) and blue as my uncles nose, when I last viewed him at his own going away for good viewing. Here is the lowdown on Ute, Cab: SLC seems to be more Cosmopolitan than one (you!) might think. And you might want take a cab if your lacking a car, having a lapse of manners with a cop, a head injury from the latter, kissing your worldly goods goodbye as the District Court Courtesy van pulls up to your treehouse, Want to take a date to whoop it up for the next 5 hours or so, be rescued off State Street anytime after sundown, or for whatever reasons you say to yourself: Crud, I gotta call a cab for a ride to X, Y or Z. You will receive: above average dispatching, prompt arrival with phone contact from their drivers, polite and invariably polite, professional and thoughtful attention from 96.5% of this Companies drivers. Clean and odor free cabin space. Variable suspension control or good to a fair up and down, and left to right bounce or sway. And most importantly of all: drivers who have your best interests, welfare and trust as their goal from ride after ride. Will all fares fit the above, ahh, probably not. But, would I call any other service? Not a chance. And, here is our chance to help a black man, a Pakistani, an Indian or whomever make an honorable living. I use to use Ute Cab regularly for transportation to the airport. However, no one has showed up the last two times I have called in advance. A couple weeks ago I had a cab scheduled for 7am to go to the airport. By 7:15 still no cab. I call and they say it may be 15-20 or maybe 30 minutes. My response was that I kinda need to know when they were coming, as they were already 15 minutes late, and arriving at the airport is kind of time sensitive. They suggested I just drive. So I did. What a great cab company. This morning I had a cab scheduled for 7am to the airport. At 7:03 when the cab hadn't arrived I called an UBER. It's an hour later and I STILL have not got a call from the cab company. But thanks to UBER I am sitting on my plane! Cab companies moan and groan about UBER stealing their business. However with UBER, at least I know when they will show up. Cab companies should use UBER as a business model. Real time app, with clean cars and GPS tracking. read more

I was recently in SLC for a conference. I tried the cab company recommended by the hotel, but they never showed. Then they blocked the hotel number, and when I tried to call, I was put on hold for awhile before I gave up. I called Ute. They were there within 15 minutes and the drivers were friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to schedule a taxi to the conference for the three mornings I was there, and they were always on time. I will definitely be using them next year when I am in town again! read more

I realized even before I attempted to use Ute Cab's "prompt and reliable service" that the taxi industry in Utah is perhaps the worst in the nation. But I had no idea that it was as bad as Ute Cab. I called Ute Cab tonight at 10 p.m. to be told by a dispatcher who seemed annoyed that I bothered him that due to volume it might take about an hour. I told him this was fine because I needed a cab to pick up my wife at her job site at 11 p.m. because our car had quit working. The dispatcher took down the address and other information which I clearly gave him twice to be sure he got it right. At 11 p.m. my wife called me from her job site. She was still waiting for the cab and was vulnerable to predators that late at night. I called the cab company to get a status and after explaining the danger my wife was in, she said, "Okay, we'll get one right over there!" Mind you, this was an hour after I first called. When 11:30 p.m. approached and there was still no cab, I called Ute Cab again and asked why the cab had not arrived. He said that a cab had been dispatched but there was no one waiting when he arrived. I asked him to double check the address and he returned to say, "Oh, they dispatched it to the wrong address!" I asked him how soon another cab could get there because my wife was vulnerable and he said, very grumpily, "We can't send a cab now until we order another one and there will be an hour or more wait." By then it was nearly midnight, two hours after I first called, and after four other calls to get an update, and they left my wife abandoned and vulnerable. She had to walk halfway across town in 90 degree heat in the dark of night on dark streets because Ute Cab couldn't give a damn about its customers. Oh yes, did I mention that on each occasion when I called, I had to wait five to ten minutes listening to elevator music before someone answered the phone. I thought perhaps the answer was to call Yellow Cab, and so I gave them a call and heard the same elevator music. Then I realized that they use the same dispatchers! Did I mention that Utah has the worst taxi service in the nation? In any other state you can catch a cab by lifting your arm, but in Utah you must, by law, call the cab company and place your order to get their "prompt and reliable service." They placed my wife's life in danger and got angry with me for bothering them by calling back. I wouldn't recommend this pitiful excuse for a cab company to Joe Biden. Oh, wait! Talk about making lemonade when given lemons. I had a "run in" with a Ute Cab the other day. Well, more specifically, A Ute Cab had a run in with my parked car. I was so impressed with their eagerness to deal with the situation, and make it right. I took my car down to their garage and they fixed the paint transfer, and they were also nice enough to buff my headlights and fix a dent that had been in the bumper since I bought the car!! I will definitely be using Ute Cab from here out. If a situation of bad service arises I'm confident that there is a team in place committed to handling things and get people where they need to go. read more

We called yellow cab, but they didn't have availability and booked a Ute cab. The driver was nice, but didn't wear a mask and was coughing. The car was dirty and one of the seatbelts was broken and unusable. read more

I used Ute Cab once before when my parents were out of town and I needed a ride. I tried to use them last night but the dispatcher tried to tell me no. Someone used the phone from my work before for a cab and left them. She rudely told me she won't be sending a cab for me until the night manager intervened. I had a bike with me and he told me there'd be a $40 fee for my bike to clean the cab. I enjoyed my first time with this cab with great customer service and a cheap price. YellowCab has my business now. read more

Ute Cab is one of the cab services I called frequently when I first started going out on weekends. I don't use them anymore since they have been unreliable and slow in the past. One evening, my friend and I waited nearly an hour to get a cab from Ute. It was cold and they failed to call when they arrived so they almost didn't stop to pick us up since they couldn't find us. We had called a competitor after waiting for an extended period of time and they almost came before Ute did. Ute's service and drivers aren't as good as they could be. Customer service could be adjusted to a higher standard. All in all, Ute is on the bottom of my list for getting a cab. read more

I wish we could give it zero stars. Unbelievably horrendous service. I have been stranded after promised a ride too many times to count, as have my friends. Once I asked where a cab was, after a much longer wait than anticipated (45 minutes), and the guy said, "It will be there momentarily." When I asked how long "momentarily" was, he threatened to cancel the cab order. Another time during a snow storm, they told me to wait an hour and forty-five minutes and to keep my phone on hand. I waited two hours, and when I called, no one answered. I realize they don't want to send people out in a snow storm, but don't promise a service you can't provide and disregard the clients the service you promised. Horrible service!! Do not waste your time!!! I recently lived in New York and could go the same distance for half the price. For instance, from midtown to the west village cost me six dollars and downtown salt lake to sugarhouse somehow costs $10-$12??! I just waited 30 minutes for my cab and this is not atypical for this service, this has happened to me for the last three times I have used it, which is 100% of the time I have used it since coming back to Salt Lake City. The drivers are downright rude and unprofessional, they do not care if they make you late for work and mess with your livelihood, plus they expect you to tip on top of that. We pay you, ute cab! I was a firm believer in Yellow Cab, but after being stranded by them twice in a row, I finally gave Ute a try. I have always had great service ever since. When they have told me 15 min, it was often closer to 8 min. The drivers have always been friendly and professional. I've since tried other companies like Lyft, but I've not found a better company than Ute Cab. read more

This is the first time I've ever written a negative review on a company, but after service that bad I feel compelled to. The rude dispatcher is one thing. But it was pretty cruel for Ute Cab to ditch me because I needed to push back the reservation time because my flight was delayed (which I explained to them). They told me in an annoyed tone that it's fine. That was the last I heard from them - they never came and screened all my phone calls. If it weren't for City Cab I would have missed my flight. Also have been told that they have declined service to black people and instructed them never to use Ute. read more

Worst experience ever. He was late. Called and tried to cancel. Spoke on the phone while driving. And when I gave him the address asked me to repeat it multiple times through out the trip. RED CABS ONLY WAY TO GO! I use this cab service frequently! I can call ahead for an airport reservation or right when I need it and they are always there. Very dependable. They always answer their phones unlike other cab companies... I can actually get through to them. The drivers and dispatchers are friendly and professional. I'm not sure why these other people have had such problems. I have always been very happy with the service. read more

Took cab from Holiday Inn Express on Decker Lake Rd and Upland Lake Rd over to Buffalo Wild Wing on 5600 W and Highbury Pkwy. Driver took the most direct route on W 3100 S. cost me $12.40. Not a problem. But the Cabbie that picked me up to take me back (#2) went all out of the way to up the cab fare. Went north to Lake Park Blvd and hit ALL the Roundabouts. Then I caught him before he past parkway and told him to turn there otherwise he would have continued back north again. Then Ran Bangerter Past W 3100 S to W 3500 S and went East where he had to go back north again on Constitution Blvd to get onto W 3100 S and then to the hotel. $17 bucks. What a FUCKIN Scammer this guy was. Never again. read more

Fare from airport to outskirts of downtown SLC: $21. Took the same trip on uber and it was $15. UTE Cab also uses archaic technology that results in payment with credit cards adding an additional 5 minutes to the end of your trip. As far as service goes, the drive was fine, but absolutely no offer from the driver to help load or unload my (small and light) carry-on. Which is fine, I am fully capable myself, but a gesture is always nice. read more

On Sunday Jan 9, 2013, at 8:30pm it was snowing and the hill where I live hasn't been plowed yet. I had one of my corporate customers over for dinner and we decided it is best to get him a cab to get to his hotel. I called the UTE cab company and explained that we would walk down to foothill drive so that they do not have to go up that steep hill, and we would meet the taxi at a gas station. I asked how long it would take and he said 20-25 minutes. I said, OK in principle we could be there in 20 minutes, but if it is possible to call us 10 minutes before the driver thinks he will arrive there, that would be nice. The dispatcher said I'm too much work and hung up!!! I called back several times and he would just hang up. I called Yellow Cab and went through the same story. When I asked them to call 10 minutes before they arrive, the dispatcher said that they prefer not to do that because it is hard for them to estimate this. So I just said OK thank you, we'll be there in 20 minutes! Was that hard?? It certainly was much more civilized. Now, the result is that I still got my cab, still have many options for taxi companies in the city, but UTE is no longer one of them. I run a pretty big company, and we have been using UTE for our business. This dispatcher sealed the deal though. We will NEVER use UTE again, and we will explain this to our clients as well (some of which are other big companies in the city). read more

Took Ute Cab from Sugarhouse to the Airport at 8 a.m. They were 10 minutes early and arrived at my destination in record time. The driver was super friendly and helped me with my luggage. I don't know why there seems to be a ridiculous amount of negative reviews for this company. I suspect trolls or bots for those ride share companies who are trying to make life for more difficult for working cab drivers to be the culprits. Yes I paid a little more than I wanted to, but I recognize the race to bottom in this industry and I wanted to support some one who was not only properly licensed to transport me, but they have been through back ground checks that insure my safety. I walk most the time with a walker. I tip very very well and 90 percent of the time I tip. Even drivers that don't help me get my walker in the trunk. I don't expect it. It helps though. In the last 6 months this business has charged my 10.00 for my own state i.d. never did mail it to me like most citizens I know would. I find out it is illigal for them to do that from dmv. Not to mention I don't go out much so I don't use my walker or my i.d. pouch with all my business cards etc in it. But a week after my pouch was left the driver calls me to let me know he has my i.d. only. But I notice my whole pouch is gone. The driver an a dispatch or owner whoever he was tells me that's correct info. Why would I have to pay for my own i.d. ? Today it was my walker.. I don't walk everywhere with it an I have 2 of them so it was easily missed. When I call in the service had it an wanted 20.00 bucks just to bring it back. I go get it today an disbach he walks out saying bout time someone claims it. Don't cops have enuff info to let me know it's crowding up their station like my i.d. was? I'm a regular customer of a few years gotta walk damn near a block cause they can't read numbers on buildings. Not all these drivers are messed up but let me say the disbatch males.. call me a bitch for stating what he told me yesterday? Some officer right. I would never recommend UTE to any person looking for Cab service. I had an experience where i left my cell phone in the Cab, for which the driver latter called me to inform me that he would be turning the device into the central office. I call the central office the following day and received confirmation that my Apple Iphone 4 had been turned in. I called latter to let the Cab company know that I would be coming in to pickup my device, much to my dismay the device disappeared. The Cab company took no responsibility, and the Cab company owners would simply hang up the phone when approach on the issue. I would hope that most car service patrons are looking for a Cab Company that his honest with the highest integrity. UTE CAB does not exemplify this is any fashion. read more
