Where can I start. If I could put zero stars I would. They have also tailgated me before while driving in the city. When it comes to safety on the road, being aware of your surroundings, being mindful of pedestrians, etc this company and its drivers do not care at all. I've personally seen them drive through the airport terminal while using their phones. Not keeping their eyes on the road. I've seen them tailgate people on the road. Also, commit rolling stops. Safety on the road is important. Especially when you have people's lives in your hands. The DOT should come and see how they operate. read more

If I could give ZERO STARS I would! Although the vehicle maybe nice the driver will SCREW YOU over especially when you're visually impaired. The ride from the SLC airport at most is 11miles...the driver turns off the highway then asks me if he's going the right way. Cause he thinks he may have my address in wrong.. I just had a ride that cost me $43 + I believe to be an additional $30 tip as I was trying to use my phone magnifier the driver was moving his machine all over I wanted to tip decently but not half the ride. I now need to wait to see what transpired on my credit card statement as I w may do a billing dispute. Arrived SLC from LAX. Traveling with a co-worker. Red flag - Cab driver 93224 (Cab Y214) wanted to know why we were making enquiries at the booth when we got into the cab. we told him that we just wanted some info about the city. According to him "the booth operators dont know the city" He never showed us the meter. Did not want us paying with credit card even thogh we were willing to pay the $2 convenience fee, The math was not correct based on the fees that listed at the airport booth and the company website, There is a difference that is unaccounted for. We paid cash and asked for a receipt, He provided a yellow card for us to write our fares and we insisted that we need the receipt to submit as we were traveling for work He Insisted on getting a tip of at least $5 to $6 or more. When he realized that tip was not forthcoming wthout the receipt, he printed one out. We still gave him his tip. However, this is not the way to treat customers. you dont force people to tip. People tip for good services rendered. I should have trusted my instincts and entered an UBER which we later found out was cheaper. read more

The bad news: despite my having entered my phone number twice, apparently the online system did not pick up a digit, but did confirm that I had a reservation - not sure why a computer program would allow a confirmation with only 9 digits in the phone. The good news: When I called at the 4:30 am pick-up time, the dispatcher was very apologetic, saying she hadn't gotten the reservation because the number was missing. She called someone else, called me back to confirm that the person was coming, and Cab 077 got there by 4:50. He flew to the airport and I got to my gate well before my boarding time. The other news: I did not see a meter, so I don't know how the fare was calculated, nor did I get a receipt. It was during the overnight hours, though, and I had two very heavy suitcases. The driver even went over and opened the terminal door for me so I could get through without having to also deal with the door, and pointed out exactly where I needed to go to get the elevator. The fare he gave me (in an even dollar amount, did he round down or up when I said I'd pay cash?) was on the high end of what I expected, but certainly not unreasonable. I would definitely use them again, but not book online, rather call next time. I would also ask in advance from the dispatcher what the rules are about starting the meter (in my home town, it's always running prominently on the console) and even try to get an estimate in advance of the cost of the fare. read more

I wished I would have read many of these reviews before we called Yellow to arrange to get from downtown SLC to the Amtrak station. Same story as many. We called at noon for pick-up at 2:30 am the following morning. We were all packed and ready to go, waiting in the hotel lobby at 2:15 AM. When the ride didn't show by 2:35, we got a call from Yellow saying they had no cars and we were basically out of luck. We had to arrange for last minute transportation. I went out of town for a week and needed rides to and from the airport. My ride to the airport was great, went exactly as a cab ride should, and cost me $20. My ride home, though, cost $32. When I looked at my receipt, I realized that the meter hadn't been run, and that I'd been charged as a group of 4 riders despite being alone. When I called the company to ask about policy and the discrepancy, I was told that there was nothing that they could do, heard about the cost of living, and some complaints and how Washington isn't doing anything. I was also told, basically, that I should be glad I wasn't the dispatchers friend who was recently charged $300 for a ride to the airport. Bollocks. I'm sympathetic to the economic plight of the working class, being working class myself, but those aren't justifications for dishonesty. Those poor excuses only served to further undermine my confidence in getting an honest deal when I call for a cab. I've always used taxis when I need a ride and avoided Uber or Lyft. If I can't trust my driver to just run the meter and charge me for the ride, I'll be forced to look for alternatives that are trustworthy. Hopefully I'll have a better experience with Ute Cabs next time I need a ride, because I won't be calling Yellow again. read more

Taxi y204, got pissed off after myself and two friends got into his cab because one of my friends asked him why he was making a right hand turn onto state street instead of going out to 90th for the left turn. Driver got extremely passed and called all of us white trash niggers, threatened to kick my friends ass, kept telling my friends that he needed to shut the fuck up, and then pulled over and kicked us out. We had barely just got in and provided the address when this driver flipped his lid. My friend was not even remotely disrespectful or derogatory to the driver. It was a simple question. Cab driver had significant body odor. Car was tiny and uncomfortable. Driver was not interested in casual conversation. He added a two dollar charge for paying with a credit card, and did not inform me of the service charge until after the fact. The money is not the issue. Took a cab from this company from salt lake city airport to Park city on Aug 11, 2023. The drive never ran the meter and 5 minutes before the destination he turned on the display to show $147. I asked why so much when the normal fare was around $60. He said that was for Uber. No wonder at the cab stand there were many people waiting around while there was a long line of yellow cabs available. They were all waiting for Uber I guess, unlike the sucker like me. My sister left her phone in Cab #48 earlier this month. We went there today 3 weeks later to retrieve it. Even though the manager Ali was very busy with other issues he took the time to help us locate the phone. He and his dispatcher were very kind and helpful. They charged several phones so we could determine which one belonged to my sister. She has memory issues and couldn't remember what the phone looked like. They were great and so kind. Two days prior, we scheduled a 6:00 am ride to the airport to check-in for an international flight. We got an email confirmation for our reservation. A cab did not show up at 6:00 am. At 6:05 am, I called the Yellow Cab office and they said they couldn't get a driver to pick us up and they were getting ready to call us. Basically they told us that we were out of luck and on our own to find transportation to the airport. Consequently, we had to scramble to find last minute transportation to the airport in time to catch our flight. Yellow Cab could have done a lot of things to avoid this situation including notifying us the night before so we could arrange alternative transportation. They obviously do not care about the experience of their customers or about fulfilling their reservations and contractual obligations. Do not use Yellow Cab if you need reliable transportation or want to employ an ethical and competent company. read more

This review is not because I was a passenger but because driving alongside them. I've had many bad experiences when these cabs are on the roads. The latest example - the cab pictured almost side-swiped me as they did NOT look in their blind spot or even look over to see if another car was right next to them. After laying on my horn and slamming on my brakes, the driver proceeded to cut me off then was flipping me off and yelling out the window. He was acting as if he did nothing wrong! If their drivers are not paying attention when driving and acting this way when THEY made a mistake, I would be TERRIFIED to be a passenger in their cars. After an hour we had to use the bathroom so walked half a mile in the freezing wind to the nearby hospital, where I called to update the Cab on the new location. An hour after that still no taxi, called again and was told 10 to 15 minutes. 3 hours later my brother literally walked home got his car and came back and got me before I got a call back notifying me that a taxi would be on it's way. No wonder Uber is making the taxi obsolete. never again. read more

I needed a ride to urgent care. I told the Dispatcher I also needed a larger vehicle like a mini van as I have mobility issues. She told me she would have someone at my address in 20 minutes. 45 minutes passed and no cab. I called back and she said I would have a cab in about 11 minutes. When it showed up, it was a regular Sedan. I had a very difficult time getting in and out of it. The driver was swift and careful and the car was immaculate but that doesn't make up for Dispatch not listening. read more

My hotel has these guys on speed dial from the room, so I set up a ride and said they'd be there in 15-20 minutes and asked me to wait in the lobby. I'm in the lobby 15 minutes later, waited 5 more minutes, then asked the front desk if they could call the cab company back only to find out the driver had come and gone already. I had to get to the doctor in 10 minutes. Several calls and 15 minutes later ("on his way..," "10 minutes," "2-3 minutes") I just got in my car and drove myself. To add to the frustration, minutes after I called to get them back, another yellow cabbie pulled in for another guest and waited there for 15 minutes while I waited for my driver. Ridiculous. I called to cancel and was on hold for 8 minutes before anyone picked up. If you don't have to be anywhere at any particular time, or don't really want to go anywhere at all, or enjoy being placated and lied to to keep you strung along, definitely call Yellow Cab. read more

I travel every week and take a lot of cabs, but Yellow Cab of SLC was among the poorest overall services I've used. I had to catch an early flight so I called a day ahead to arrange a 4am ride. By 4:10am the day of, they hadn't arrived so I called dispatch and was told they were "2 blocks away". 10 more minutes and the driver had finally managed to make it those last two blocks. A heroic effort given that there are no stoplights or stop signs in the last 5+ blocks. Simple rule - when you are running late, give me a call or text with an accurate ETA. Once in the car, we started towards the airport and the driver asked me for directions to the airport. I'm from Texas and come to SLC 1-2 times per year...probably not the best guy to be giving guidance to the guy that lives there and drives around the city all day. Good news is that once we were on track to get to the airport, the driver got there in good time and at least sensed that I was not a chatter and gave me some peace and quiet. read more

Called a day ahead to schedule a Paratransit pick up to take me to my mothers 94th birthday and was scheduled for pickup and return. After waiting 15 minutes past pickup I called the number back I had scheduled from and was passed through 3 different agent and finally to the SLC dispatcher who told me that he had no pickup scheduled with my number attached but he would call the individual who had the Paratransit vehicle and have him call me. I waited another 15 minutes and called back. Passed around another 3 times to get the dispatcher again and this time was berated being accused of creating trouble trying to force the company to purchase accessible vans to accommodate disable customers. He went on and on not allowing me to even reason the issue. What started with an attempt to go to my mothers birthday has now turned into something else altogether. I was sold a service that was never available. And should have never been offered. It is not my problem as a consumer nor do I care about the economics of the business. It is simple. You either do or you do not offer the service. I will now be going to licensing division who over sees this and complaining directly to them and asking full disclosure on unfair and discriminatory practices by this company and their representatives. One star even though the dispatchers rudeness deserves less. read more

They don't answer calls during regular business hours, keep you waiting, expensive, (but then all the cab Co are), and the majority of the cars are run down and definitely feel dirty. IF YOU HAVE AN EARLY FLIGHT AND NEED A RIDE FROM OUTSIDE OF SLC TO SLC AIRPORT, DO NOT USE YELLOW CAB UTAH. I called Yellow Cab Utah the Thursday before my Parks City trip to reserve a 4:15 am ride from Parks City to SLC before my 6 am flight the following Monday. Set the reservation, no issue. On Sunday night, I called again just to confirm that there would be a driver in Parks City to take me to the airport. The person on the phone confirmed, no issue. At 4 am, I call to ask where the driver is and the person on the phone says that I'm mistaken, that the reservation was set for 5:15 am, which is a blatant lie. He said that they were sending a driver to me immediately, to arrive at 5 am. With a 45 minute drive to SLC from Parks City, I knew that would mean that I would miss my flight, so I frantically started calling around town and asking for rides and lucked out when a driver from the vastly superior Utah Express agreed to take me. I made it to my flight on time, no thanks to Yellow Cab Utah. Also, while trying to sort things out at 4 am before my 6 am flight, I became a little frustrated with the phone operator, and he hung up on me. While there are a few good people that work there, this business is unbelievably horrible and truly should not be used by anybody. This is also my first Yelp review. After the time range the dispatcher said it would show up in, I called to check on the status of the cab. It turns out the driver had cancelled the pick up and had picked someone else up -- it did not sound like they had planned on ever telling me! My room mate and I were at the Fresh Market at 5600 S and 900 E and I called at 9:03 pm and was quoted a time of 20 minutes. Well 35 minutes passed and I called back and was told "right after you called a bunch of drivers signed off"" and then "We should have one there in about 15 minutes" After debating with my roomie for 10 minutes I called a different cab company who quoted me 15 minutes... and they were there in about 18. They got us home safely. An hour and 23 minutes AFTER my first call I got a call from a driver saying he was at Fresh Market but understood that it was more than an hour after my call and he'd wait 4-5 minutes for me. How kind of them to show up an hour after the time they said... without calling to let us know how late they would have been. I will *never* even attempt to use Yellow Cab again. read more
