Guy behind the front desk was incredibly condescending and charged us 50 cents for two ping pong balls. Absolutely ridiculous.

The only disadvantage in my opinion is that we have a balcony that we are not allowed to access, and we cannot "buzz" people in the front door but that's it! The student led staff always seems to keep the building in immaculate condition, and security is great because students must scan at six points just to get to your floor. First, the assignments I turned in on January 13 were regular homework. These were NOT final exams. They were missed assignments from earlier in the semester that I had been working on since December. The timestamps on my emails clearly show normal human pacing: 10:20 PM, 10:49 PM, and 11:00 PM. This is what any student does when catching up. Instead of seeing that, my instructor decided those timestamps were "suspicious," and used them to claim I used AI with no actual evidence. During the meeting, I explained multiple times that I have a learning disability and an IEP, and that I sometimes use Google or my old notes for clarity because her instructions on the Challenges were not clear. Instead of supporting me or trying to understand my disability, she repeated the word "AI" over and over, trying to get me to fold under pressure. It felt less like support and more like an interrogation. I also explained that I reused my own writing from earlier in the semester something that is completely normal but she twisted that into misconduct too. When I tried to express confusion and frustration, she told me I was "attacking" her, even though I was speaking calmly and just trying to make her understand my point of view. I came into the meeting thinking we were going to work on my assignments together, not to be accused. I felt blindsided, talked over, and mentally drained by the end of it. As a student with an IEP, I did not feel supported, understood, or respected. I felt like the meeting was set up for me to fail from the start. I completed my own assignments, I turned them in myself, and the timestamps prove that. Nothing I did was misconduct. I feel like I was treated unfairly, judged incorrectly, and not given the disability support that I am supposed to receive. I'm disappointed because I worked hard, and instead of being helped, I was interrogated. I hope UWM takes this seriously, because no student especially one with a learning disability should be made to feel this way.

Luxury pricing, but not living…read more I rented a large two-bedroom apartment. I was lured into moving into these apartments because they look nice, and have a good central location. However, it was a disaster from the first week on. In spite of this place being seemingly nice, it is the WORST place that I have ever lived, and that includes apartments I rented during graduate school. Mosaic on Oakland is not managed as a luxury apartment should be. There might as well be no management. Noise: For one year I documented ongoing noise from the unit above me with no resolution. This was not walking noise (which is often audible due to the poor construction), but stomping, playing ball, running, etc. They do not enforce the lease or their rules consistently. The noise occurred at all hours and was not standard apartment noise. Garage: The garage stinks, and the garbage room of a restaurant was often left open. After I sent them photos, they said they are working with the restaurant, nothing changed. There was open garbage where we paid a fortune to park our cars. Are rodents are next? Different Rules: My final move out date was hell. The janitor yelled at me and told me "time out" (great way to treat luxury apartment residents) because he said 'shady people' will come in if we open a door. It took a male (my fiancé) to quiet him down and to get him to stop going off on me. Others residents were allowed to open a door when moving out, but I was not. My fiancé had to physically stand at the door for the entire move. One of the moving crew felt uncomfortable because he was being racially profiled as 'letting these shady people in.' The movers told me they hope to never have to deal with Mosaic on Oakland again. Closing: They only refunded me half my security deposit. The apartment was clean (I have photos), but at this point half of my security deposit is a minor waste compared to a year of torture in this overpriced and poorly constructed place. It is a pity because they are occupying a prime space in Shorewood. Even cheap student apartments are run and managed more effectively than Mosaic on Oakland.

They have nice appliances as well. Matt, the property manager, is very professional. He is very helpful and always making himself available when needed. He made our moving in and out of the property easy. Joe made sure that everything works well in and outside the unit/building. We are sad to leave because my husband got a job in another state. But given another chance to comeback to Shorewood, we definitely know where we will stay again. Thank you to the staff of Mosaic Condominiums for making our home comfortable and safe. There is black mold in the apartment. I guess this shouldn't besurprising since the dishwasher was moldy when her and her roommate moved in. Literal mold IN the dishwasher at that time Walls are paper thin so you hear EVERYTHING. Finals time? No worries! Please scream all night. Her smoke detector has been faulty for months. I've heard it myself. They no longer accept maintenance for it because it's not a 24/7 issue. I will see what the fire department thinks about faulty alarms. I'm sure they would be pleased. What management tells one student is different from another. For example, my daughter was told she couldn't drop parking because there was no wait list. Come to find out her friend was on the wait list Oh and previous tenants apparently aren't forced to give their key and fob back so who knows who has access to the building This place is an absolute joke since I posted this in apartments.com and emailed the property management company, eenhorn its gotten worse. Maintenance came to fix a flickering light. Light still flickered because "there's no issue" found by maintenance. Well she has videos of this. minor issue but why are we lying about the fix? The best part.... Maintenance left her door unlocked. Amazing. I wanted hundreds of people to have access to her things. The manager, in response to door being left open was "I don't know how that happened". Um I do. He didn't lock the door?! How about an apology? Some form of recognition that this isn't a good situation?! Good heavens if I gave such little crap as these people I sure wouldn't have a job. Thanks for scamming students. Keep up the good work Oh and we're also paying more for base rent than outlined the lease. It's hard to argue with a cement wall here which is what talking to them is like. So if you like feeling insane and disrespected you should absolutely rent here. If you or your student wants a decent place to live I probably wouldn't stop here....

    Marquee Place

    Avenues West, Westown

*Be aware that most of the 5 star reviews on Google are FAKE or not from real tenants*…read more I have lived at Marquee Place for 2.5 years. I'm going to break this up into sections so its easier to navigate: INITIAL LEASING PROCESS: Before signing a lease, I wanted to schedule a tour, but the Leasing Manager warned me that the units were being rented quickly and if I didn't act now that I might lose my spot. I asked if they would do a virtual tour with me, but the Leasing Manager refused. Also at this time the Manager told me about the amenities the complex offered: a fitness center, laundry facility, and a social hangout room. I later learned that he LIED about those things - there was no fitness center or hangout room, and the "laundry facility" was just three incredibly ineffective washers & dryers in a moldy and damp room in the basement. SECURITY CONCERN: After living in my unit for a few months, I started to notice that the back door to my building was constantly being propped open. Anyone who has lived in this area before knows that it isn't always the safest, and an open door is just an invitation for someone to wander in. I raised this concern to the Leasing Office and they did nothing. I then reached out to an Executive at BMOC, Inc., and they agreed it was unsafe and then instructed the Leasing Office to fix the problem. The Office installed a weight to help ensure the door would shut on its own, and a keypad for added security. I went into the Office to pick up a package shortly after this, and was BERATED by the Staff for contacting their 'boss". They claimed that by going above their heads I got them yelled at, however, I would do it again, and its a HUGE RED FLAG that they were mad I did that in the first place. PARKING ISSUES: Parking at Marquee Place is done by "assigned" spots in the alley between 15th and 14th Street. When I first moved in they charged $100/month/spot. You'd think that paying $100 PER MONTH would ensure that you could rely on your spot being available to you, but of course that was rarely the case. I would often return home to find a different car in my spot, and then I would inform the Leasing Office only for them to do nothing in return. They eventually hired a towing company, and I would often make requests for strange cars to be towed but those requests would RARELY be honored. In fact, the only time the towing company actually did any towing was when they towed MY CAR because I didn't have a hang tag (I was never given one). When I was finally fed up enough about this problem and sought out the Property Manager, Sean Casper, to discuss solutions, he was mad at me for calling his personal cellphone and then essentially refused to discuss the problem further. OVERALL: I'm fairly lucky to have only experienced the negative things described above. I know of several other tenants who had it way worse, and I feel like their experiences are far more indicative of what it is like to live in Marquee Place. In fact, the Office recently began an incentive program looking for 5 star reviews on here. If you leave a 5 star review, they will enter your name into a contest to win AirPod Pros. This proves that they realize there are problems but refuse to fix them. The gas shuts off often leaving your apartment freezing, the water is shut off far more often than it should be for "maintenance," and the internet connection is crappy. The alley is disgusting and constantly filled with trash, and its riddled with pot holes which causes damage to your car. The building often smells of cigarette smoke because of people smoking by the front doors. The basement floods a lot and is dangerous to walk in. The office phones rarely work, and the Property Manager is never onsite to answer your questions or concerns. To their credit, my actual apartment was nice and spacious, and I liked the modern finishing. Further, the building's solid foundation and walls muffles sound well. However, the way the Leasing Office conducts business and interacts with tenants is repugnant.
