I also really like how this studio is set up where she only works on one person - it's intimate but also comfortable. Joy is such a pleasure to go to when I need to get a fresh cut. The stylist showed zero professionalism, didn't even bother to consult her on what she wanted, carried a hostile attitude, and rushed through the appointment. To cap it off, they washed her hair and sent her out with it completely wet, showing a total lack of basic care. Behavior like this--driven by prejudice over skin color and accent--has no place in any business. Management should be deeply ashamed of the toxic environment they run. I've seen Kris for about the past year for blowouts and makeup applications for a variety of events, photo shoots and theater performances. Kris listens carefully to the service you want. Whenever I've shown reference photos, she re-creates them flawlessly. With makeup, I love the lash application she includes and the long-staying wear of the makeup products she applies. She's also extremely efficient, and after the first visit, she perfected my look and made each subsequent appointment easy, quick and simple. I recently visited for a headshot package she offered, where a professional photographer took new photos in her studio after I received hair and makeup treatment. I really appreciated Kris during the shoot, as she offered tips for posing and even touched up my hair and clothing to help me get the perfect shots. She's highly in demand (that's what I want in a stylist!) and weekends fill up fast. Original review (2016): Sue Scott is amazing with hair, both color and styling. She gave me a balayage of caramel and mocha colors and I've never been so happy with getting color. Then I showed her images of 40s style curls that I'd been trying to accomplish at home. She gave me a great tutorial as she styled my hair, and I though this really went the extra mile. I've been able to replicate it at home, which is what I think we all want to be able to do after we leave the salon. I also felt like Sue really listened to what I wanted. I like to have flexibility to air dry (natural waves), straighten or curl and wanted a cut that would be versatile. I've tried all three since I got my cut last week and I'm very pleased with the results. In the salon, she's really easy to talk to and has a really positive attitude. I think the best way to get an idea of someone's work is to see it. Sue posts almost daily to her Instagram (@wispsalonalexandria), so if you are trying to make a decision on if her style would work for you, this is a good place to start. Upon entering you will find a modern salon with a little bit of an Asian flair in decor. Very clean and calming. I say rough because she was running her hand through my hair and shaking it out for a few minutes, leaving it still damp - my hair is thick, curly and prone to frizz so you can imagine how that went!
