Place can be a little unorganized, but it honestly just depends where you go. It is a big place after all, pretty awesome though. It's not just a great place for gifts, but for collecting, reading, games, etc....It's eye-opening how they have such variety. Technology and games and such as that will always be pricey. Expect that. Other brands are more chill on prices though. Service was decent, not much out of the ordinary. I do warn you things like returning and getting help to get things can be rocky. That may be my only complaint, but other than that it's a pretty nice place for shopping. read more

Very excellent selection of games, books, and movies. We found everything we were looking for, and the staff was beyond friendly and intelligent. Prices were a bit on the high side, however I was able to bend my budget to get what I wanted. When I came to visit my brother here in St. Louis, I knew I needed to visit this store. I could say the store could be organized a bit better since I found a comedy movie in the horror section. Overall a great place to go if you are a collector or enjoy vintage items. read more

well i say they have selection of stock, i was impressed first thing , then we manage to find the absolute rudest, most disrespectful, excuse of an employee, this sad sack , after i asked him a question angrily told me yea , come back in a few minutes and when im done he would check them out , after a few minutes I went to my truck got my toys returned to the counter upon where there's now another gentleman standing there talking to him and as I'm taking things out of the box, he's telling me no I don't want it. No, don't want it, next one no , after a few toys that he checked out willingly, he once again yelled at me I told you I'm done doing this. I'll check out your toys and this gentleman here was next in line and I said I'm sorry I have obviously angry at you so I'm gonna take my stuff somewhere else in which he apologized to the other customer and I said are you so are you kidding me? You're apologizing to the guy that walked up after me. He was next to the line so you're obviously a liar. You hate your job and probably your life and now I will never return to the store he made it clear. He hates everything. What a loser. I wouldn't even give him the one star but they make me sad. Man I feel old when I go to a store like this (I am old, but that's besides the point). A large store in a semi-alive mall, this store is overloaded with books, games, cds and dvds, and other pop culture empheria. There is some basic sorting by category, and within each, alphabetically, but finding a specific item can be a challenge. DO NOT SELL YOUR GAMES HERE, EVEN IF THEY'RE VALUABLE!!! This happened last year but i'm going to write it anyway. I had recently found a PS2 along with some games in our storage closet and I decided I wanted to sell it. This V-Stock is the closest Video Game store besides GameStop to us. I had decided before I went that I did not want to sell the actual PS2 but all the games. I looked up the value of all the games beforehand and the total for all games combined was something around $400. I went to this V-Stock and I went to the front desk to find someone to help me with them. I gave the lady at the front desk (She was very nice and understanding) a bag with all the games in them. 10 minutes later, she came back with an offer. $12?? $12 damn dollars!! I decided to decline the offer because I did not want to get $12 for games that are worth $400. Conclusion; Do not sell your games here! Went here as an alternative to gamestop, turned out to be a mistake. Don't buy used gaming accessories here. Was looking around for some decent used gaming controllers for cooperative gaming with some friends, well I found what I was looking for....The pricing was a little higher than gamestop but I obliged when the clerk explained they are fully tested and work just fine. So I proceeded to buy two used limited edition controllers for the friends. Got home and tried playing for a bit and they had issues. One would not register a few buttons, other wouldn't register stick movement, trigger non responsive, and charge port non responsive. I then opened them up to take a look to find signs of severe water damage (rust and corrosion) all over the boards inside the controllers....with a hint of cat urine odor that I did not notice at the store because they were packaged in cellophane. Knowing firsthand this location's atrocious return policy scams, I will not even waste my time or energy attempting to make a return and will just take the loss. I'll stick to the local game shops from now on. read more

Oh, the damage that I could do here! I don't like to admit this, but I spend entirely too much time at the South County Mall. Since I live in Soulard, it is now the closest mall to me, and I've been known to stop by once or twice a week. One of my favorite stops in the mall is Vintage Stock. I am no stranger to the V-Stock, having once lived a few miles down the street from one in Springfield, MO. That location lacked some of the charm of other cd stores around town, but as we see malls move away from selling music and smaller stores close their doors every day, this Vintage Stock is essential to anyone looking for music, movies, games, toys, or books. If you come by on a weekend or holiday, V-Stock is almost guarenteed to have a sale of some sort, especially on books. Many of their used hardback books are under five dollars, and sometimes it's buy so many, get one free. Paperbacks are next to nothing! Of course, the sales will vary. However, my main focus is almost always the music. They have their used and new stuff in different sections, and for the mall, the prices are pretty low. I don't tend to spend much money when I do stop by, but I have a hard time not browsing the one dollar bin for great records that have been neglected through time. Toys and games? I stopped buying these things a long time ago, since I have nowhere to display them, but if you like Super Nintedo or Star Wars figures that are still in the box, you might lose yourself in Vintage Stock. My new thing is the Funko Pop! Heroes collection, and they have tons of those goofy figurines. I usually fight the urge, but it's good to know that I can satisfy my materialistic need whenever I want. Damn, it sucks to be an adult sometimes . . . Just a note: I have never had bad service at Vintage Stock. The clerks are always nice and helpful when it comes to whatever sale is going on at the time. read more

So this place used to be a Barnes and Noble, and with many of the shelves still up and discount books posted outside, to some extent, it still looks like a Barnes and Noble. That being said, this store was a pleasant surprise for me. Firstly, my kids came up in the morning and got some video games to play at Gramma's. Unfortunately, one didn't work, and kids being kids, they--well, I don't know what they did to the receipt. I came in later in the evening--wincing along the way--to see if just maybe V-Stock would be willing to switch out the game for a working copy. They did without question. Awesome. Secondly, they have so much cool stuff and in such a nice, open area: comics, board games, books, toys, CDs, video games. They even have a great selection of used books. The clearance books are a bit difficult to wade through (no conceivable order to the titles), but other books are easy to find, and some better-known authors have their own end shelves or tables, which I thought was excellent. Don't Sell Anything Here, They Will Rob You Blind. Took a bunch of books in to sell at V-Stock. Many of the books were almost new and valuable. I called them later and they offered me $2.85. Worst possible customer service imaginable. Not only should the employees at the front be fired (at least the three male workers I dealt with, the one lady I talked to was nice and helpful) but the fact that they would rather not exchange something that was incorrect and worth around 13 dollars and instead of just doing an exchange they'd rather alienate a customer. I'm never coming back here and I hope they close down. Not to mention when you sell to them it's a garbage amount you get from them. Not worth the gas money to sell your stuff to them, you'll get 10x more selling it online yourself. Specifically it's the south county mall vstock that had the worst customer service I've ever encountered. Every now and then, I find myself searching for old CD's I've lost in the past (whether I lent them out or I've sat on them), and the inner teeny bopper in me decides to go to Vintage Stock. Who needs to buy new when you can buy used and just upload them to your computer, anyway?? Kind of surprised by Josh's review. I have been to this shop about 2-3 times now with Sean H. since we are both huge gamers and we love to go into physical stores to browse. As I mentioned in my other reviews, it's pretty difficult to beat Amazon.com's prices in the way of used videogames and game systems. Really hard. GRANTED if you buy game systems from a shop, it's a little less sketchy because you don't have to worry about it getting raped by the postal service during delivery or the person selling it lying and having it not work on you. Truth. But online prices are hard to ignore too. lol. I really like coming here, because the guys who work here are sooo nice and just overall cool! They will spend hours talking to us about new game releases as well as old favorites and what system(s) are the best or our favorites. The prices here aren't always the cheapest but it depends on what you're looking for. Yes, I might be able to get a game for $3.99 here (an old one that wasn't popular) but I could just as easily get it for $1.99 on amazon. The best part though, is that you don't have to pay shipping fees. So if it's a really cheap game, you might as well just buy it at the store. If you want a newer game used, buy it from amazon. Even with shipping you pay less. Also in the store you'd pay sales tax but I am just stating the obvious here, lol. Like I said, it's fun to come to browse even if we don't plan to drop any cash. I did buy a little Sally figurine from the Nightmare Before Christmas to decorate my desk at work, and Sean and I also bought some used Star Wars movies. They weren't dirty cheap but they weren't insanely over priced either. I think they'll probably buy back your old stuff but not sure how that works as I haven't tried it yet. Also awesome: the last time we were there, they had a gigantic bin of old Star Wars figurines individually bagged. Sean H. and I had a good time sifting through them, trying to find all the 'rare' ones, haha. (He has a pretty intense figurine collection from when he was a kid.) They have tv's set up so you can try games before you buy--pretty awesome, and useful if it's a used game. You want to double check to make sure it works! They have couches set up with movies playing kind of like a mini theater! So cute. Also the second floor has a ton of figurines (heaven!) as well as manga, comic books, old school toys, and even a regular bookstore section! Yes, we will be back here. It's not a 5 star experience due to the prices generally being higher, but I guess by that logic I will never rate a store 5 because I can "always get it cheaper online." Vintage Stock has one large floor almost entirely devoted to video games, most of which are retro. I saw plenty of decent prices on games and accessories. Along with a couple of SNES games, I picked up an SMS controller for a very fair price. I suggested to my wife that we live in this store. Sadly, she shot that idea down. read more

I come here quite frequently for the used vinyl & CDs. Their game selection is pretty much everything but the good stuff because people get in there early and snatch em up. The only issue I'd say they have is with pricing retro games, and all games in general. Complete in box copies and loose copies will be the same price, they'll sell knock offs without knowing they're fake, and you see a lot of old GameStop cases for disc only games, priced the same as a complete copy. They usually have a good music selection, a lot of stuff you just can't find anywhere else, they also have a ton of books, but don't mess with the trading card cases because they have absolutely no idea what they're doing with those prices. Oh, and also, don't trade your stuff in. That's common sense. They're gonna give you 20% of not even retail, but 20% of what's in their price guide software. It's 100% not worth it. Awful awful awful. Walked around this store for an hour looking for a specific category. Didn't have an exact title or author. This place has nothing in any kind of order. I asked two different employees for help and I was asked "do you know the author?" They have no computers set up to search for anything and all the employees hung out at the front desk chit chatting. I guess I will join the rest of the world and search for the book I want on Amazon and stop giving the brick and mortar businesses a chance. Come on! Great selection of just about everything media. Store is very well organized considering I've seen so much stuff just placed in random locations. The employees are very helpful and welling to take the time to help find the exact item you are looking for. I've heard people complain about the wait times, which I don't have an issue with. If you go during a high traffic time and plan to trade/sell, you may need to wait as the trade/sell transactions are on a first come, first serve basis. Even when they've had multiple trades waiting, they've always had at least one person ringing people out so they don't have to wait on the trades. I love this store and make it a point to swing by often. Make sure to sign up for their emails for notifications of sales (usually around a holiday) and random coupons. read more

They have a great selection at this store -- though not nearly as big as the location in Chesterfield! But it's enough to satisfy the typical college kid looking for cheap entertainment. But the service department is somewhat lacking. I walked up to an employee to inquire about selling and got a "why are you bothering me" attitude. I simply dismissed it as her having a bad day and I got an answer so whatever. I finally gather up some books to sell and my friend carried them in for me. After just walking in and setting the stuff down at the nearest counter (it was heavy!) an employee comes up and tells us that there is someone she is tending to and that we were going to have to wait. Well, duh. We just wanted to set the things down, not butt in front of anyone. We asked her if it was okay to have the stuff here and after pondering for a second, she thought that it should be alright. What else were we supposed to do? Carry it and wait? Her attitude was uncalled for and it seemed like she disliked talking to anyone. I don't know, maybe the workers have bad days everyday or maybe I just run into the less fun ones. But I'll still find myself enjoying visits here because of their inventory! read more

I Enjoy the staff and the vast diversity of game consoles, games, gaming accessories, and other gaming related goodies. Store seems to be very well kept, fairly well organized, and clean. Many of the prices are a little on the high side rather than the low, but you somewhat have to expect that for a store of its size and its volume. It's also a music, video, and bookstore all packaged together as a Video Gaming store. It's really an entity in its own class and category. I would highly recommend them overall and this location especially. read more

I think it's called V-Stock now, but anyway... With a pretty big space formerly rented by the sadly departed Borders Books, this place has a lot of different stuff for collectors. They have plenty of video games from Atari 2600 through GameCube to PlayStation 4, loads of Manga, DVDs, action figures, and even vinyl records. Oh, and there's also a place to sit and play videos games (though you can't choose which games beyond choosing between consoles) as well as a mini movie theater screen in a corner of the store. And if you somehow can't find what you're looking for, this particular V-Stock is also located in the same mall as a GameStop and a Slackers CDs and Games store in addition to another GameStop in a separate building in the same parking lot. Maybe I should give this place five stars instead of four, but for some reason I don't quite understand, I'm just not feeling it right now. I still highly recommend this place for at least a couple of visits. read more

I always like stopping in and looking at their video game accessories. Their normal PS2 and XBOX controllers are overpriced, but there's a lot of hidden treasures in there. I got an NES Arkanoid VAUS controller and an Atari 7800 power supply for cheap. I rarely walk out empty handed. I have found some cool stuff at this place, but if you interact with the wrong employee at the wrong time, they WILL treat you poorly. Especially, if you are trying to trade stuff in. They are decently staffed in regard to employees per shift, yet they bumble over each other and the trade-in results are a joke. Many of your DVDs, BLU-rays, and CDs will earn you an average of $.10, and they base their pricing on ebay and low ball you on value. I have personally had a disgruntled employee (I've had to deal with him before) offer less than a dollar for a vinyl record I wanted to sell, so I took it to a nearby store and received over $60 for the same item. First off, I had never heard of a Vintage Stock/V-Stock (their sign has the hyphen) previously, and when I drove by I had high hopes. After hearing horror stories of bad customer service, incomplete items, and a horrible return policy, those hopes dimmed. The other day, I decided to check it out for myself, and it didn't fail to live up to the less than rave reviews. The minute I walked in, I started perusing the video games, and found that their prices on both games and accessories were astronomically high. I'm not much of a physical music fan, so I skipped that section, and looked at the various vintage action figures an the like, which brought me back to my younger years. I'm not an expert on their prices, so I can't say how they are, but if they are alike to the other prices in the store, they're overpriced. Next, I went to the books section. Though it has books, it is by no means a book store, and I'm pretty sure the books weren't organized in any way other than by genres. They also have movies and comics, though the movies were also (to no suprise) overpriced. Basically, stay away from this store. I was originally hoping it would hurt Gamestop's business and provide a better alternative, only to find out they are even worse. read more

It's an awesome store with great stuff and a friendly staff, but I sadly had to dock it one star, because of their refusal to deal with the teenagers that constantly congregate in the store (ugh, I sound like a crotchety old lady). These kids gather in the section with the movie screen and make out, text, or use the area as a clubhouse. Don't they have homes? Rumor has it that they had to get rid of the couches, because the little trolls couldn't keep their hands to themselves. I used to enjoy sitting down for a bit after a day of shopping and looking at a good book, but I can no longer do that. All that are left are these hard, low to the ground bench things with no backs, which STILL doesn't stop the little $%^&$ from using the place as their hangout and disrespecting the customers. Either crack down on this or station an employee in the area to monitor things and kick them out if they continue this behavior. read more
