Enthusiastic and helpful from the moment I stepped over the threshold. I was just curious as to what a store called The Fantasy Shop sold and thought I'd take a peek. A friend of mine loves Wonder Woman so I asked if they had any Wonder Woman collectibles or decorative things. Well, no, but the two young guys there tried their best to find anything Wonder Woman-related that might fit the bill. I took my daughter in to learn about different comics and graphic novels, and for her to check out her favorite superheroes. Jason the member on duty at the time took the time to talk with my shy daughter to find out which characters were her favorite and then talked with her about where she should join a timeline for each of the superheroes she liked and made age appropriate discussion about how fit in the particular universe of the character. He also suggested material that fit her budget but would be entertaining and said the next time he could talk to her about each of she had favorite parts. I've been shopping here weekly for a few months and every single time has been a delight. The employees go above and beyond to make sure I find what I'm looking for. I brought a friend in with me who was interested in comics but had never really read any. The manager Scott ended up giving them a bunch of copies from the Free Comic Book Day stock, and I'm happy to say my friend fell in love with the hobby and has been collecting ever since. The store is very welcoming and inclusive, and is genuinely a delight to shop at. I can't recommend it enough! read more

Since 2012 I have been regularly coming here for comics and more. I have come to know the staff and developed a high appreciation for their service. They all go the extra mile to make sure you find what you need. If the book is not in store they will order it from another store location or outside source. If you're hankering for something to read but don't know what, they are more than happy to give recommendations and if you're a regular they start to learn your personal tastes and will show you something they think you'll like without your asking. I have seen some customers underestimate the knowledge of the female staff which is a mistake on their part as all the employees are well versed on their products. I can't imagine going anywhere else for comics. read more

I worked here and it was honestly a really shitty experience. They were aware of my mental disability when hiring me but then fired me because of my mental disabilities, as well as knew I was recovering from a Sexual Assault that has caused me severe PTSD. The way they let me go was without warning and told me I "wasn't a good fit for the team" after previously saying I had been improving. Not a very mental illness/health friendly place. Offered me an exit interview and then every now and then a manager gave me a 20% discount, but other than that everyone became fairly rude after. Toxic environment. Not recommended as a place to work and way better options for shopping than here. Staff were friendly until they turned out of the blue. The owners wife is really nice, and the owner was too, but management- specifically St. Charles- were cold. read more

Just moved into the area and went over there for the 1st time last week. Small store, but friendly and knowledgable staff. They didn't have what I wanted (which was a little old), but immediately checked to see if it was available for order. It was and they ordered it for me. Best thing for me is that a related title came out this week and they set it aside for me, completely unprompted and I will get both when the order comes in. My husband was able to talk games with the guy as well while we browsed; they know their stock pretty well. While we will undoubtedly go to one of their other locations at some point, that will be more for inventory reasons--bigger store=bigger backstock/more back issues Only 4 stars because I just started going there, but it's a heck of a 1st impression! read more

This Fantasy Shop location has the best merchandise and comic book selection I've seen. The only thing that trumps the stock is that Scott (the manager) and his staff are always the friendliest and most knowledgable clerks that one could ask for. With writer signings and special events, they go out of their way to make the Fantasy Shop not just a retail store, but a social and creative experience for its customers as well. I can't help but stop by every Wednesday after work for new releases. It's a great environment in terms of customer base too, and you can always get a good conversation and laugh in when visiting. I have been going to this comic shop for about 6 months now since it is the closet one for me since the other comic shop out in Ballwin on Manchester closed. The people who work here are great and take the time to help with any questions customers have and are very friendly. If you are wanting to get into comics they have a neat display with the employees top picks for the week. Not only do they sell comics but they also sell a good variety of board/card/games and superhero memorabilia. I have been to star clipper in the loop, which has a good variety of comics, the customer service and friendliness just isn't up to par with The Fantasy Shop. read more

I know I've already reviewed a Fantasy Shop that's closest to me.. But I just have to let everyone know that merch-wise, this is the shop to go to. The store is the nicest out of all of them. And I've found more of my prized variants here than anywhere else. The back of the store literally is just variants upon variants. The graphic novel selection is even huge and the staff is laid back. A must for anyone in need of their weekly comic haul. read more

Since my last less-than-positive review I have actually been back to this location a number of times due to having started at a position of employment not far from here. In the process of coming back the one gentleman I discuss whom bothers me is sometimes there being his usual standoffish self, but I have been lucky enough to also encounter other quite stellar employees who make me feel welcome at the shop. It goes to show that the people who work in a store are as important as the items that are sold. I will continue to stop by here on occasion and will avoid the employee who irritates me for all the ones who are awesome. read more

This is not my local comic shop. I stopped by one afternoon to kill some time before a Cards game (we won 6-2 against the Braves). This a good shop. I was greeted courteously when I came in. The shop was clean and clearly organized. When I asked about the reading order of a couple of titles spinning out of Age of Ultron I got a helpful friendly answer. The gentleman behind the counter (Scott, I believe) helped my girlfriend pick out some gamer-geek goodies for her son. We talked some Midwest cons and other good shops around the area.
