Refreshingly unpretentious. They don't promise anything they can't do. Furniture and decor are basic but nothing is in disrepair and the place is clean. The staff can seem unfriendly, but will do their best to accommodate special requests.
The best thing about V V is that it's really good value for money. A full English breakfast, called a V V 2, comes as a giant plate piled high with bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, chips, and slices of toast. You won't get that for £5.50 elsewhere without seriously compromising the quality. Their coffee is also cheap but good. Paninis are packed with toppings and exist in nice, uncommon variations (tomato-mozarella-chorizo) as well as your standards.
