I get all my care at VA A2. I find the quality of care is excellent and service and commitment of the clinicians and all the staff is exceptional. I appreciate the dedication of the staff, many of which are veterans, and the physicians, NP's, PA's and other clinicians. They all have options that offer better pay but I believe their dedication to the mission and and veterans population keeps them serving. Thank you for what you do A2 VAMC! read more

Came in early for blood work and check up at 8:30am. 1 hour early!! Waited over and hour for the doctor to see me and then waited another 1 1/2 hours for the desk to print out paperwork and to send us to our next appointment which was supposed to be at 9:30am?? Come in early and get pushed back to after 11am?? Not good for a veteran who has health issues and has issues getting around. Desk person is not very pleasant either.. read more

It took quite a while to find out what my health issue was but after it was discovered, Levi Hall, of the pain management pharm, did an excellent job of finding out what I needed for my chronic pancreatitis. When you're in constant pain, 24/7, it takes a real expert to manage your needs. Hats off to the entire team there in A2! read more

Located a half mile away from the U of M hospital complex. It has a multi story parking deck for veteran patients. A huge newly constructed entrance area with support offices. Many specialty care services, from chiropractic care to multiple MRIs. Many of the medical providers are really good, but the clerical staff (the 'MSAs' in government speak) can be marginal-- but many are polite and helpful. It does participate in the U of M training residency program, which I think helps improve quality. read more

I've been to a few VA hospital's and I have to say, out of all I've been to, the Ann Arbor VA is one of the best. It's a great facility, they're renovating and updating a ton, and it's right next to University of Michigan Hospital. I've been to the Detroit VA hospital and did not care for it or it's location. The staff here is great, my doctor and team are great, and as bad as the VA's reputation can be, I have fortunately had good experiences. I've had surgery here, I've been to the ER and I have my other appointments here. Thanks for all you do! read more

They all work very hard here to provide support and care for our Veterans. The site is sprawling and has advanced technology installed. They intake desks are not fully automated but the individuals manning them are expert and caring. They provide adequate and accurate directions. The layout of the buildings is a little strange. It seems like it was built over time in sections which might explain it. The building is modern and looks attractive. Parking is a little odd as well but for visitors it is easy to deal with, especially if there is inclement weather when the overflow parking might be open. read more

may 4th had a problem in middle night, called Va nurse. she feared I was having stroke. Wasn't near VA so told to go to nearest hospital was in north mi where hospitals not so good. checked face muscles checked for brain bleed with cat scan. blood pressure super high and they sent me home to follow up with my doctor. My VA doctor ordered tests.... va schedulers scheduled my first test 2 weeks later for ultrasound of corotid arteries. MRI brain scan 4 weeks later turned into 6 weeks. most tests were scheduled out 4 plus weeks. in mean time my blood pressure is really high, vision is blurry, and getting headaches. today June 7 and I have not been treated and had the one test so far. There is something seriously wrong and no treatment or real testing. I drove to primary care with blood pressure machine with 34 readings the lowest 145/88 and highest 177/102. mostly 150's over 90's. I am having symptoms really bad for whatever is wrong. Elevated blood pressure and unusually low pulse. Dr sends me to VA Ann Arbor emergency room. My doctor called the charge nurse to let them know my issues and to make sure they treat me for high blood pressure in process. Sat in Emergency room for 3 hours and still hasn't seen a doctor. Blood pressure readings at home 169/99 before going to doctor. After waiting 3 hours with the pressure in head and chest, jittery, not feeling well I walked out. Even with a call from the doctor and with high blood pressure with unknown reason... the incompetent staff let me sit there for three hours. Got Home, ate at 4 pm hungry as hell as no food since 6am.....3 hours no care. Don't know if I'm having a heart attack, stroke, no clue but no care!!!!!!! The VA has come a long way from the 80's but it's still really broken and my care for last 7 weeks is worse than a third world country. read more

All I can say is the VA saved my life multiple times. They always treat me with respect. God Bless all the heroes serving there. If other VA facilities are looking to improve, check out the Ann Arbor VA and follow their lead. Unequaled when compared to others. read more

I have to give the VA in Ann Arbor five stars for the care that they have given my brother, for the above and beyond treatment that we receive...and the help. they are so forthcoming in so, so many ways. I cannot find fault in anyway of them. My brother has had many health issues the past year and a half and has had to go to ancology radiology and Mental Health. And each one of these Department, the nurses have shown so much empathy, encouragement, and help even so far as assisting me with his wheelchair from the seventh floor down to the street. The doctors are thorough in answering your questions, information assisting you with whatever equipment or nutritional needs you may have... five stars is not enough for the work and the empathy they show not only the patients, but to the family as well. read more

I've been going for about 4 years altho I have kept my 'civilian' health coverage. Very efficient service... appts always on time... I have had various tests but no actual procedures so I can't review any stay in the hospital. I have been more than satisfied altho scheduling times with my primary doctor can be limited... he only works on Tuesday morning... but he is very efficient on scheduling specialists and tests. They have been doing a lot of renovating... place is looking modern. And the politeness of the staff is outstanding... I highly recommend it... read more

I'm new to va health care I had 4 routine appointments last year. The shortest appointment took 3 hours the longest appointment took 5 hours. I have hospital anxiety as it is and spending 5hours there to get one medication is ridiculous. I sense then went back to my previous Doctor and I'm paying through the nose for care but at least my appointments only take a half hour to an hour. I'm sorry to write this bad review for care that I'm deserving of as a Veteran. read more

How does one rate Hospital Food like this, without using the words "industrial" or corporation? (Sigh) Just call me "The Cardiac Connisiouer". I managed to spend the last week in Pulmanary Intensive Care following a heart attack. Now, I thought I was doing a pretty bang up job of caring for my ticker- but this week in cardiac purgatory taught me new lessons on how bad hospital food can actually be! First, have I mention the total lack of salt, spice or flavor of any kind in any if this "food"? Talk abut jacking identity- I can only say "good God was that ever awful! " Seriously! On day five -lunch- I got meatloaf, scalloped rehydrated potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. M Lunch was really, on a scale of 1-10, was probably a 3 impersonating a 2. B Yuck. End result- I would rate the medical care here outstanding- maybe five stars. But, as for the food- ONE STAR is being more than generous. Don't eat in-patient unless you have no other choice. My sister's significant other underwent a surgery he never should have been offered, he was not a viable candidate for such an extreme surgery. Along with the poor medical decisions made there were multiple HIPAA violations. He suffered for 62 days in the VA hospital in Detroit and finally passed away on December 10, 2019. None of this matters because the VA is above the law! read more

After being a patient at the VA medical hospital in Detroit for years, and being grateful for the care that they provided me, I had become unhappy with some of the employees and the treatment of the vets! I get the service was subpar and that try get as if they were doing us a favor. I had heard from a friend about his experiences at the Ann Arbor location and decided to make the switch. I must say, they don't mess around! They get down to business and have you in and out, my experience here has been a great one, the staff has been friendly, courteous and professional! And again, while I'm grateful for my services and time at the Detroit location, the Ann Arbor location will be my new home! It's definitely worth the drive! read more
