Optometry Intern Cat (Kat?) was the absolute best! I checked in for my appointment 5 minutes early, but then after waiting over 30 mins, checked with the desk and they said I was already checked in, but would send optometrya message real quick. Less than a minute later Cat popped out and ushered me into the room where she quickly proceeded to perform the entire with great precision and professionalism. The actual optometrist eventually showed up to double check Cat's work (cuz she's "just" an intern) and found all her findings to be perfect and even confirmed a finding so minor most optometrists wouldn't even notice or pay any attention to. Unfortunately, she told me it was her last day there as an Intern and I was to be her last patient. I don't know where she's off to now, but they are deffinitly blessed to have her level of skill and attention to detail join their team. read more

Excellent clinic facility. I usually go to Palo Alto VA Hospital for all treatments and appointments. Fremont clinic is small. Oakland and Martinez locations are ok. This was my very first visit to the San Jose clinic for a one off special treatment. It felt very organized and professional. It was more spacious than it looks. They don't have a cafeteria here, but everything was so organized and clean. Plenty of parking in the lot and there's pretty much 2-3 other veterans walking around today/Friday morning around 9 AM. Unlike Palo Alto, they are very low key and good here. No, it wasn't too busy either. Signs were easy to navigate. Handicap friendly. The main thing was the fast response time at serving. It did feel like an actual hospital, but it's not a hospital here. Brand new building. Not too many doctors walking around. Nurses are only present during appointments. Everyone was well trained. They were on time. No lines no stress. Service was fast and excellent. I think this is the perfect location and they really invested in good upkeeping of the place. It would be nice if they have a cafe or cafeteria though. Afterall, it is way down in south near South San Jose where it gets super hot at times. Air conditioning is super. Great staff. Yes, it felt very empty inside, but people are warm. read more

VA San Jose Clinic - Medical Centers Near Me - San Jose, California

WOW, talk about great customer service!!!!! After many reminders I finally got my neighbor to contact the VA to help him with his medical expenses. He is an 86 year old Korean War Vet and has a lot of health issues and very low income. So we went into this VA Center last Thursday. After hearing so many VA horror stories I was prepared to spend at least half a day, longer if necessary. He was told that no appointment was necessary to just walk in,,,YIKES! But to our delight we walk in and were greeted by a very nice volunteer Vet who helped him sign in and get his number. We were the only ones there when it opened at 8 a.m. A few minutes later he was called in to an office where his eligibility was verified and the VA employee got him set up with an appointment to see a Doctor at this clinic. His income is low enough so he has no share of cost. What a blessing for this man. He is so relieved to finally being able to address some of his medical problems. If you are a veteran be sure to check out what benefits you have. You can call, go online or walk in like we did. I know we were very lucky getting served so fast but regardless t, these VA employees and the volunteers deserve a big Kudos and congrats on helping out a Veteran in need. Great job guys! read more

Hands down the best customer service you'll ever experience walking into a health clinic. Flu season is right around the corner! A couple of days ago, I called this VA to make an appointment for a flu shot and was informed that they accept walk-ins. So, I decided to stop by this afternoon for my annual dose. As soon as I walked into the building, a nice lady greeted me and asked me if I was there for an appointment. I told her that I needed to get my flu shot, and she walked me over to the check-in kiosks (even though I've already been there numerous times). She also instructed me on how to check in for a flu shot, which was actually different than checking in for an appointment. 5/5 stars for this employee! After checking in, I went to the 2nd floor lobby to wait in line. There were quite a bit of people ahead of me, which was probably my fault since I decided to come in the afternoon instead of the morning. After waiting for about 15 minutes, a lady approached me and asked if I was there for a flu shot. I said yes, and she said that she just wanted to make sure I was in the right area since I've been waiting for a while. 5/5 stars for this employee, too! After about 25 minutes of waiting, a nurse finally calls my name. She was super friendly and very talkative! Despite some others who would be cranky during a busy shift, she gave me a very welcoming vibe. All of the vaccination materials were prepared while I was in the room, so I could confirm that it was a completely sterile (and quick) process. Another 5/5 stars for this nurse! This VA building is actually the new VA San Jose as of late last year. I've been going here ever since they opened, and I still love it here. For Veterans I salute you my brothers. Now this review it won't be as lengthy as a normal, this is a great place to go for your medical needs for all military veterans for all services. The doctors are professional there is a pharmacy on site neurology on site, and all medical concerns and services available here locally. If you cannot go to Palo Alto or don't have the resources to drive that far this would be the next best place to go. It's a one shot deal they can service almost if not all of your medical needs and concerns on site and they can make recommendations for third parties. I'm like Palo Alto which has more resources there are no food places here but there are plenty of Veterans in the area discussing plenty of things especially the older Veterans I noticed that will grow in due time as more service men separate from service read more

What happened to our San Jose clinic ???? I brought my husband here for a broken foot, from a motorcycle accident, for a follow up with the orthopedic surgeon. 2 days before we were originally at Good Sam. So the Va wanted their own xray, ok. Come Monday......yeah, that didn't work out, no xray tech after we got there so we made another appt for yesterday. X ray so now just waiting for orthopedic Dr... sitting in a room, waiting, waiting....well the Dr that came in was a general practitioner... she couldn't unwrap & rewrap my husbands ace bandage...she said she would try to reach someone in orthopedics or a podiatrist. Waiting...waiting... then a nurse came in & said " why are you here ?" ( bad mood I guess). My husband had enough, got up and began walking out. The Drs., nurses had no idea what was going on. A nice lady came and talked my husband back inside. The Dr from podiatry called my husband once we got home. We use to love coming to this clinic. But I'm not sure who keeps dropping the ball. Its bad enough a patient is in pain, has PTSD, etc so let's get our crap together. I'd rather drive to Palo Alto even though this clinic is close. read more

What happened?? I am in the middle of an important project and it has a deadline of 2 Jan 2019. I have done all the paper work (HISA GRANT) and project is completed. Final payment request ect: has been sent over night UPS. I understand that they have "MOVED" and there are no new phone numbers available to follow up on my paperwork. How does an important office as this MOVE and not keep their phone numbers???? It's like they dropped off into a black hole. I went in for an Optometry appointment mid-June. After I got an updated Rx for a new pair of glasses, I made my way to the in-house optical center to order my new pair of glasses. After confirming the type of frame and lenses I'd need and want, I paid for my new glasses and was told to expect them in the mail between 2-4 weeks. After 4 weeks with no glasses I made a follow-up call to check on the status of my order. I was directed to the optical center where I was told there was a bit of a "back-up" and that my glasses were on the way. After six weeks without my glasses I followed up again, and again, I was told the glasses were in the mail, and should be arriving within the week. It's now been 49 days since placing and paying for my Rx lenses, and a third follow-up revealed that not only were my glasses not "in the mail" and "on the way", but they have note even been made yet. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I understand that there are certain situations where delays will happen in the production, ordering, and mailing processes. I also understand that the VA does what it can to give veterans the proper care and treatment they deserve. This situation does neither. Rather, this situation is not only unacceptable, but wrong. For six weeks I was lied to with regards to the status of my glasses. Only after 4 follow-up calls on my part (the fourth one being on the same day as my 3rd, since I was told I would be getting a call back with information. I ended up waiting until nearly close of business and called again, only then was I able to get an answer regarding the matter) was I told the status of my Rx. Even then I was not provided any solution to the issue, rather, I was given multiple excuses as to why the oversight occurred: 3 out of the 4 employees handling that department are on vacation; We had temporary staff who were not able to access the right information; I was out of the office for X amount of days and only now am I able to catch the errors. The VA system in general has a bad reputation because of their shortcomings, but situations like this makes me think that the negative image is self-inflicted. I'm annoyed at the insane amount of time it takes to get something prescribed by a Dr. to get into the hands of a veteran. I'm concerned at the lies that are told to sweep the problem under the rug. I'm disappointed in the excuses and the lack of answers. I'm convinced that this place needs to be better. read more

Amazing service. I am in awe of what the VA provides for us. Before coming here I had no idea that I could have a primary care physician in the VA. I always thought they were only for service connected problems. They provide services here that put most private providers to shame and they do it with a good customer service and an overall friendly attitude. I would have thought seeing so many veterans on a daily basis would make a person immune to the hardships these service men and women are going through, but this place seems to care about each and every veteran who comes here. Now, there is some bureaucracy, but they will help you wade through that as well. I was assigned a nurse and a doctor and can communicate with them through email and phone calls, which completely amazed me and makes my life that much easier. The nurse was super professional while still remaining friendly. The doctor was professional, thorough and friendly. If you are a veteran in San Jose and have not gotten your primary care physician come here. All in all I recommend this place to any veteran in San Jose. read more

I've dealt with a couple VA Clinic/Hospitals down in SoCal and they are horrible. I was mind blown when I came to the San Jose branch. When they give you an appointment, it basically means the time that they say. I was in and out of my appointment 3x faster than just the wait time I have had with the VA in the past. It wasn't just a 1 time deal either, i've been back 3 times and each time it has been such a smooth transition I don't see why others can't run this way. But then again, I still haven't been to the Palo Alto VA which is the main hub in south bay and for this reason I avoid it thinking there will be a long wait time. I'll stick with my San Jose branch, why change something thats great?! read more

My PSA has been rising for the passed few years went from 3.8 to 5.1 this year. When I asked for more test my doctor told me not to worry its normal for my age (64) Two years ago I was told by my doctor at the time the VA doesn't worry until it reaches 10. So after my CARING doctor told me not to worry and check it next year I went to Stanford and have been diagnosed with moderate prostate cancer which I am being treated for now. read more
