We went to load our dog onto a canoe and hope that she would be good with it but of course she wasn't and so when she hopped out of the canoe some stuck up lady yelled at us as we were struggling to get back onto the beach.. Dogs are allowed on the beach and I'm like yeah I know our dog jumped out of the canoe and we're heading back and we have to go through the beach to get the canoe back on land.., water stunk and the kids were screaming CACA Mama the water smells like caca Not sure if it's that time of the year where the heat hits in the humidity to where it increases water smell? I probably wouldn't return if I was to be honest it wasn't my type of thing But the office was really nice and the place was clean and hook ups were real easy to get to.. And price was very affordable.

No pool, no real swimming area, no activities. One small swing set with a wooden fire truck looking structure where the kids can play in but beware of giant spider webs and spiders... This location isn't too far from the Waterville area where there is still nothing to do but many shopping areas and food. Children'a museum, two cent bridge... 5 below, McDonald's play place. The bad: Poison Ivy... be careful when going to hook up your camper to the septic and electric and water. Poison ivy ruined my husbands week(s). Not bad for the full hookup and price.

We were told that our site was on the water and filled out all our information. I was very pleased that they were able to accommodate our stay on such short notice, but when we went to check in on the day of our stay, they told us the site we had rented was already rented and put us in another site about a quarter-mile from the water, and didn't give us any discount or even apologize about this. We then looked at the information sheet we had filled out and they had deliberately written over our reservation and switched it. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this campground to anyone after this terrible experience, especially knowing there are much nicer facilities nearby.

This cabin was in a good location on the property for accessing those amenities and enjoying the view from inside or from the large porch. The cabin itself is so cute inside at an initial walk through and we just loved it. The air conditioner was on when we went in which we appreciated because sometimes hotel rooms can be stuffy at check in. The check in process was pretty quick and easy. I booked via phone and was not told until I arrived that they have a one pet policy. This was also not listed on their website. They prefer pets not be on the furniture, but have no way of enforcing it which we found out the hard way... The comforter on the bed had clearly been peed on by someone's pet at some point as it had a big yellow spot when we removed it (we never keep comforters on in hotels because we don't know how often they're cleaned). The sheets and other blanket seemed clean and didn't have any scent - urine nor laundry. We quickly discovered the building is slanted which made for a strange and almost disorienting experience walking around. At 5 minutes past posted checkout time, they rang the room repeatedly to tell us to leave even though I asked for late check out (30 additional minutes) since I had a work call scheduled. The room, aside from the comforter, was clean and the space was charming. The view can't be beat and the price was really good for the location. I probably would've considered staying here again, but I have 2 dogs.

The kitchen was equipped for our needs and we cooked several meals there. We had great privacy and a lovely porch to hang out on outside with chairs and chaises. The beach is wonderful with great views. It's not a Hilton resort and that was perfect for us It's a nice, laidback comfy place to stay with nice people working there. It's very reasonably priced and it's located in a less touristy area within easy driving distance of Acadia and most coastal towns. 10/10 we'd happily stay again!

My partner and I rented one of the smaller cabins at sunset cabins. We booked it for 6 nights…read more Going into it, we were aware that the cabin would not be on the lake, and that we would not have access to a fire pit. Fine. However, when we got there, we noticed that things were not quite as they were described. For one thing, the "garden view" was the view of the back of another cabin which was having work done on it. Everything else was obscured by overgrown brush and tree branches. We were staying for almost a week and planned on cooking most of our meals there; the "stove" was a single burner hot plate. What's more, access to the lake was only accessible by walking through or onto the lawns of the lakeside cabins, making things awkward at best. We put our things away as we had gotten there in late afternoon and went to bed. In the morning we had a long talk and decided to see what could be done about our issues with the cabin. We called the owner, Aloisa, and explained our grievances. We asked if we could upgrade to another cabin. Yes, but not until Sunday night. We had arrived on thursday. We discussed it and decided it wasn't really worth it to us. We told Aloisa and she became very defensive and agitated. We tried to meet her halfway, proposing we would pay for the night we had stayed and the next night, but we would be leaving that day. This was around 10 a.m. She did not get back to us until 4 pm. She agreed to refund us less than half of what the stay would cost. We have since taken it up with The booking app we used. I believe people do have a good time there. There are many glowing reviews. Aloisa is very warm, as long as you are not inconveniencing her in the least. When that happens she seems to become very agitated. She has outright lied in a review of my partner on the app. Just a warning. Make sure you double check what you are getting.
