My wife and I like to consider ourselves very seasoned cabin campers. We have stayed at numerous…read morecampground cabins throughout the state during our travels, some rustic and some modern. Unfortunately cabin #2 here at Mic Mac Campgrounds we would consider the worst accommodations we have ever experienced. We were on vacation with another couple for our friends birthday weekend. We normally stay at another campground close by but it was booked so we figured we would give this place a chance being it had fair sounding reviews and that we had not been here before. We were greeted by the owner whom was very friendly and provided information on the recent fishing activity on the pond and explained that if we needed any additional kitchen supplies to just come up and get them. We did take note that the camp store was not very inviting nor was it well stocked with supplies you may need as you may find at other campgrounds. It was sort of messy and disorganized, but we figured maybe it was a work in progress. We departed across the road to our cabin which from the road appeared to be dated but large enough for our group of four. Upon entering the cabin the first thing we noticed was that the floors were very bouncy and extremely warped and on even, sort of gave us that "Funhouse" effect when walking across then because you bounced along the softening floor. We then observed that there were cobwebs everywhere and even in areas that were easily accessible if the cabin had been remotely cleaned. The cabin is very spacious and well laid out for each rooms privacy and it has a spiral staircase in the middle of the living room going up to the loft area which has two twin beds. We ventured upstairs and during the climb noted that the staircase moved around a fair bit as we ascended. Upon accessing the loft I felt extremely concerned that the floor would possibly support us up there. The other couple with us said you could see the ceiling bowing as we walked across the floor. Once we got back downstairs I observed that the mounting plate holding the stairs upright was completely un-attached from the floor (missing 3 of the four bolts and the only one there was broken off) and that the only thing holding it in place was two lag bolts into an old ceiling beam, so we decided not to go up there anymore. Again we figured we don't need to access upstairs so it was not of concern to us but folks staying there relying on the upper beds should be cautioned of this. During the rest of the walkthrough of the place I noted several areas of concern. First I would like to mention that I work for a Federal Government Agency that is responsible for safety, so I have a vast understanding of what's safe and what's not. - The bathroom had a missing electrical plate on the 4 receptacle outlet right above the bathtub as well as not being GFCI protected, there was mold build up on the ceiling by the shower, the safe grabs in the shower are rusted out and broken, and the bathroom window would not open. - The master bedroom (King Bed) has two closets in them and one has exposed insulation falling into it from the ceiling where it looked like something possibly crawled through it at one point. We observed a colony of ants crawling across the floor so bad that we dared not put anything of ours on the floor. The window looking behind the cabin was broken and just barely holding in place but was still out just enough if you were to run your hand along it, it would cut you. On a plus note the bed was very comfortable. There was a television in the room but it was just static, no channels were able to be gotten. In here again just like ever where else throughout the cabin was cobwebs all along the beams. - The second bedroom (Two Doubles) was a little bit better as far as accommodations and neatness. However the door accessing that room from the outside was not lockable and the deck outside of that door was horrific. The deck felt as if it was going to collapse as you stepped on to it and the rain gutter just above the door was collapsed down onto the deck and the roofs eave was rotting away to the point that you felt that portion of the roof would leak or collapse. - The kitchen was your typical kitchen and had the basics as far as pots and pans. The stove island was missing a draw front and was pretty dirty. We went to utilize a few pots and pans that evening for supper and found that the pots were not even cleaned from the folks before us. There was still stock food all over the bottom of them and most of them were rusting. We did the best we could to clean them but did manage to locate one or two that we could use. The top shelf of the pantry we observed a mouse nest in the back corner and the following day we found some of our food had been chewed through and mouse feces on the counter tops.

This family camp is a true gem - the best kind of all-inclusive vacation for families. My family of…read morefive loves it. The kids spend time by themselves, my husband and I have time alone and together, and we have time with the kids to enjoy each other as a family. The camp is large enough for the kids to exercise their independence --heading to the barn for activities or kayaking in the cove by themselves without me worrying about them. When we go, I don't cook, clean or plan anything - which as a busy mom, is the best kind of vacation. The camp is rustic and simple but very clean with beautifully manicured grounds - a space just perfect for appreciating nature. The food is delicious (I probably gained 5 lbs last week) and easily catered to special diets. I enjoyed a nice mix of structured activities (fishing, sailing, art, archery, land sports, barn dance, bingo, etc) and down time (time at the lake or for a nature walk or just to relax around the fire). I also appreciated the sense of community that camp strives to create each week among the family members. At about 10-12 families per week, it is just the right size. Can't recommend this special place highly enough and I can't wait to go back.

I went here four years ago with my girlfriend. We shared so many beautiful memories here. Four…read moreyears later we came back as husband and wife. Still just a peaceful as I remember it. I can not say much about the cabin experience because I like to camp in tents. They are being renovated and look nice. But if you're looking for some peace and quiet this is the place. Really friendly family owned staff... I mean I've never met a more friendly business owner. She was so accommodating. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I can't wait to come back.

This was our 6th year of staying at Megunticook and we've loved every visit. Frankly didn't even…read morenotice the change of ownership and this year some of the staff who were here when we first came in 2021 are now back. The site is clean, well-maintained and above all quiet and peaceful. The pool is just right - as are the outdoor showers and bath house. We're booked for next year and will share more photos. We have a Roadtrek Van and also set up a screen house (we call it our living room). Previously we had fires at night but it was kinda warm so we didn't indulge. Another favorite thing to do is to take our morning coffee (or our eventing cocktail) and sit on the chairs overlooking the ocean. If peaceful wooded experiences are for you, this is a great deal. Bonus in that it is close to Rockland and even Camden for even more fun.

This is our fourth treat to camp megunticook and probably our last…read more Has the camp ground changed no, still nestled in the Maine woods, with a cliff top view you can walk to and see the ocean beyond. However it's been sold out to a corporation and as it's typical they are only after the $$$. You can not pre book for the following year, and the have a season camp manager, who although very nice has no answers to anything other than call the 1-800 number. We met many ppl over the week we were here and most of them repeat travelers who agree this may be their last year due mainly to the attitude and corporate hospitality, aka none. It's a shame, this was a nice family feel and accommodating camp ground. Our family have been coming here for three generations. The campground itself is pretty much unchangeable, the amenities could be upgraded and spruced up, but we come for the feel of the grounds. The cold corporate feel it's already having is making us think twice sadly.

The park guides are very helpful. We went straight to Mt Battie Rd for a beautiful scenic view of Camden Harbor. Penobscot Bay and Megunticook Lake. The views are out of the world! We spent 2 days going in and out of the park to see daytime versus sunset across the bay. We actually had a small picnic while visiting. This was a very calm relaxing experience. I highly recommend especially if you like wandering and hiking in parks. There is two sides to park, so dont forget to drive across the street.

This is such a great state park, especially for swimming. The camping is nice here too with good facilities, but the road noise is evident, especially at night when other things quiet down. Lastly, the park is dog friendly, which is so appreciated! Our dogs have enjoyed it each time they come, whether it be for camping or just stopping in to swim. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed in the water or not, but our dogs prefer to lounge in the sun or shade of the picnic table anyway.

Lake St. George is a beautiful, clean, and serene spring fed lake perfect for swimming, fishing,…read morecanoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and boating. The park is immaculately well kept, with many picnic tables and grills available. There is plenty of space to lay out a blanket for sunning or picnicking, and lots of green space for outdoors games. There are clean bath/changing rooms close to the designated swimming area. There is also a lifeguard on duty. Entry fees are reasonable ($7 per adult for non residents) and plenty of parking, including handicapped parking. No trash bins--take out what you bring in. A wonderful place to spend the day!

While sites are small and close, we had adequate room for our camper and truck side by side and then room to sit and enjoy the sounds of the Atlantic Ocean from less than 100' away. Our site shared a utility post with neighbor site (front end and wrong side for us as back in unit) and voltage showed low so we used post on next site from us (they were tenting and didn't need power and said ok to plug to their post) Lots of children while we were there, but they were all so well behaved and everyone was enjoying the cool Seabreeze compared to the stifling temps further in town. Lots of rules and regs at this place, but that's part of what made it the perfect location for us during this trip. It gets a 4 out of 5 due to low voltage and utility hookups in a bad setup for us. We're ok with no sewer dump on our site (you can use their's once for every 3 nights or pay extra) but we're use to state parks and such so it was no problem.

We stayed at the Boat House--Bad news and good news-There are no "king" size or "queen" size beds…read morehere-all beds are full or twin--with one exception, mattresses are 30 years old and 5 inches thick--not conducive for a good night's sleep. Good news--the location is beautiful-campground is quiet and has a lot of fun things to do, pickleball court, ping pong, swimming pool, etc. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay again but bring my own mattress!
