You know how hard it is to find 3/8" copper tubing on Pearl and Madison St in Chinatown forgetabooout it. The local hardware store told me go to Division St and sure enough there was Plumbing Supply. So told the counter man the size he cut it off a roll of copper tubing. And also needed new nut and ferrule which I had to purchase a complete 3/8" compression union. Total cost only $15 which is out of pocket. I work for the city but they never have any money on the credit card. Lol Counterman was friendly and so was the lady who works the aisles. Probably family business could be a mother and son operation. I didnt ask. They are open 7 days a week. Well I stopped most of the leak but workers are still trying to find main source of leak. His explanations were minimal, but to the point. Paraphrasing: "We send papers to whomever you tell us, you get approval, pay us half and then you tell us when. We handle protecting other surfaces, reglazing and cleaning up after ourselves, then you pay us rest if the work is good." Because of my past numerous experiences dealing with contractors, I braced myself for getting only 50% of what was promised and at least some back and forth midway through the process. Boy was I surprised. When the day came and I didn't hear from them, I went to the apartment to check. The work was already underway! I was impressed by how meticulous the protection was. Plastic coverings, cloth coverings, portable vent, PPE's on the workers... I left them to it. Mid-day, I got a call to ask if I wanted grit added to the bottom of the tub for anti-slip. That was it. The next call was when the job was done and the worker asked for a broom and mop for the minimal dust on the floors! Everything else was cleaned thoroughly. Three years later the tub still looks as new as the day they finished. Now I'm renovating another bathroom and calling upon them again. Will never call anyone else.
