I was a bit anxious about visiting a dental office, but even after my very first visit, I can say that I looked forward to my cleanings and dental care here. I absolutely loved coming here for my dental check-ups and cleanings for the two years that I lived in Davis. Margie always made the visits a blast and my visits often felt like seeing a friend and just catching up and having a laugh with the bonus of getting my teeth cleaned. Dr. Samra was always kind and reassuring! He never took any of my concerns lightly, especially when I mentioned to him that I was experiencing sharp pains while eating/chewing, he referred me out for further care and examination to make sure that my issue would be resolved. I also had a cleaning with Jessica and she was gentle and attentive and a pleasure to speak with on the phone. When I called recently to have my records transferred over, Celeste made it a breeze and processed my request on the same day. They all would answer any questions or doubts I had about procedures or services and always threw in some recommendations for a great brand of dental care products to try out for a specific problem I was hoping to tackle. I left every appointment with a smile on my face from having such great interactions with the personable staff and knowing that my dental health was in good hands. The only caveat to an otherwise smooth experience with this office was that sometimes I was left on hold for more than a couple of minutes when calling, but I would just end up hanging up and calling back and have my need addressed. I just chalked it up to it being a small practice that was bustling with so many patients and inquiries that it was inevitable that there would be a couple of phone snafus. Thank you Dr. Samra and staff for such a great experience and for helping me dive back into good dental hygiene practices. The front desk staff and dental hygienists are all incredibly friendly and professional, and I've especially appreciated how easy it is to keep my insurance updated with them and the clear communication they've had about billing. Dr. Afkham does the work himself! He does the cleanings and pays close attention to what he finds. A couple of appointments ago, he found a cavity (my first ever--I was really nervous about it!) and explained the cost of treating it right there and had me treated and out in half an hour. So, HE ASSAULTED ME AND THEN CHEATED TO THE POLICE. I visited the clinic for an exam regarding wisdom tooth extraction March 27th. Based on prior communication, I was under the impression that the visit was a preparatory step for the extraction. However, I was informed during the visit that the extraction could not be performed there and was referred elsewhere. A misunderstanding arose from the clinic's initial communication, which I believed to be misleading. Upon addressing this with the front desk, a disagreement ensued. Dr. Afham intervened, and the situation escalated. Dr. Afham forcefully instructed me to leave, resulting in him physically grabbing my arm and pushing me all the way out of the office, causing my phone to fall and further adding to my distress. I immediately contacted the police to report the incident. However, Dr. Afham provided a conflicting account, stating he merely "opened the door" for me, which led to the police being unable to take further action. This experience was not only humiliating but raised serious concerns about the professional conduct at Davis Smile Center. It is particularly disheartening given my history as a loyal patient over the past three years. I am considering filing grievances with relevant professional and regulatory bodies, including the Delta Dental Program, the Dental Board of California, and the Better Business Bureau, to seek redress and ensure such conduct is appropriately addressed. I appreciate any help that could help to resolve this issue satisfactorily. If I did not inquire about it, I would not have gotten a small refund. So, if you do not double check they cheating people out of their money. Also, (a separate incident) created an inaccurate estimate for procedure, showing insurance would cover for more than they ended up. Costing me about 9000$ out of pocket for teeth removal. Then, I compared with other dental offices after the fact and they charge 3x the price for a cleaning! The only positive is the staff is nice. But not worth the higher price!

The hygienist that had been at my old dentist moved here, so my cleanings continue to be done by someone I trust. Yesterday I had a cavity filled. I was very nervous. I hate getting Novocain, the needle always hurts me. Not so with Dr. Bains. There was no pain, just pressure. After a brief wait, she started drilling. Again, no pain and it was all over long before I expected. My apprehension on getting dental procedures has been reduced. Their billing is often messed up. My husband kept getting bills because they sent the claim to the wrong insurance. They said they issued a credit but he never received it. They finally discovered that they issued the credit to the wrong person. I believe they now use a different billing company.

All my experiences at this dental office have been fantastic, & I've been in a lot recently-- my mouth has been quite a big project. But everything, from the front desk staff, to Dr. Bains, to the dental hygienists, & to the 4 times I've Called in the last 6 week because my temporary bridge fell off, they showed concern & have my best interest in mind & they just do fantastic work. Also worth noting, I had a couple temporary bridges put in while I got a root canal & then had to get some filling so they could even put a bridge, & I didn't have much tooth left for them to attach the temporary bridge, & it came out a few times, one time even twice in one day-- & each time they squeezed me in that same day, & didn't charge me an extra cent even for any of those times I came back (& I know this for certain because I don't have dental insurance!!!) Anyways, I super highly recommend them if you're scared about getting dental work done, don't be. They make sure you're comfortable & just do absolutely amazing work. Can't praise them enough
