Wasn't over the top best service but just good. The skis were good but I thought the boots were ok. We just skied Snowmass and had better skis and boot rentals. They have a good layout and fast service. We used the overnight storage for our boots so we would walk around town after skiing. I came with my partner and her son to rent gear for their first experience skiing. I have to say, this place was terrible. I am not sure we are even writing for the correct place as it is "Vail Sports Kids Rentals." I am imagining it is however as the only other review was also one star. When we came in initially to get their equipment fitted (boots, helmets, etc...) the guy serving us, though he was sweet with our boy regarding Star Wars, it seemed he was way more interested in talking with his colleagues about a "chick night" in Breckenridge than figuring out what we actually needed. It took almost an hour to get the gear and we were literally the only people in the store (3pm on a Friday). Consequently, on the mountain (at the top of the gondola) our six year old kept walking out of his skis. The setting of the bindings could not even hold him in shuffling. I ended up tightening the bindings so he could actually practice being ON skis. My brother and I (both Vail natives, and both Vail ski instructors- though I am no longer working for the mountain) thankfully had the where with all to tighten them so that he would not get injured just walking. When we came to discuss this with the rental place at the end of the day, they argued with us and stated we had selected negative one as his skier type. I had selected the lowest skier type offered on the sign in and they stated that I had selected the type for children with special needs or ACL tears. When I inquired about where the "types" were posted, they stated that they were posted on the wall. Upon looking I realized that there was no descriptor for any "type negative one," just type one, two, and three. My guess is that if there is some discrepancy between the sign and the level that people sign up for there should be some "professional assessment" done to clarify. In addition the next morning the rental place also lost my partners rentals and searched for new skis for twenty minutes after which they had to set her up on new skis. So that was an additional bother. Really the error was an annoyance, especially considering the fact that in Lionshead with beginners you can't just hop down the mountain to get things remedied. That would require wasting your $100+ ticket. Mostly the rudeness, the arguing, and the lack of accountability was what made the experience terrible. Having worked for Vail for almost a decade in total, I know the quality of service that the resort expects. This place is certainly sub par in that regard. A quick way to repair would have been a simple apology or perhaps a discount or a comped storage bin. We will not be returning to this rental place. With so many to choose from, one would think you would strive to compete. We will go to double diamond. I should have trusted my initial instincts with that. read more

I wish I could give 0, I got so tired of these people I went bought my own board and flew it back to Florida with me, never renting in vail again but if I do it's gonna be from Christy Sports, 100000000 times better services and knowledge, they take care of you and got me my own set up within 10 minutes, it took me an hour to return my shit to these lazy wretches, and they tried to fuck me on my refund for my three days left, refunded me 34$ instead of 340$ read more

Rented skis and boots in Denver for our daughter. Unfortunately, Colorado Ski and Golf did not properly fit our daughter. Vail Sports is a sister store. Jake and Bryce are amazing. My girlfriend and I purchased a 3-day beginner ski training package which included equipment rental from this place. Most of the people were very nice and friendly, but the attitude and behavior of one employee necessitates a one-star review and my decision to never do business with Vail Sports again as long as this employee is there. His name is Shaq, and his attitude and behavior went beyond being merely rude, to the point of open hostility. I encountered him on day one, during the rental process, working behind the register counter. He never said hello, never smiled, and never once seemed like he was happy working there. (Note to Shaq: if you are so miserable, find another job.) He also attempted to double charge me for the equipment rental even though the charge had already been paid through Vail resorts when I booked the training course. Luckily, another lady stepped in and took over the transaction. She was very nice and she did apologize for Shaq's behavior. For the next three days we would cycle in there to store and finally return our equipment. I saw this guy a couple more times, and he never failed to display an utter contemptuous countenance and generally looked like he hated himself, his job, his co-workers, but especially the customers whose patronage ensures that he has a job to begin with. A worker like this is toxic to the entire organization and should be invited to find a job that he likes, or at least one where he is not able to share his vitriolic energy with customers. read more

I have rented skis for the family at this location since it was opened a few years ago and before that we rented from one of the other locations in Vail. This time the service was not up to par. The computer system had a glitch and we had to re-enter all of our information for the rental contract. No big deal except for the unorganized chaos with people jumping ahead in lines and associates running around everywhere. We were over an hour getting our gear. (4 of us). The real problem came the next day when my wife wanted to swap boot sizes as her boots were uncomfortable. There were 2 associates there one was busy but wanted to help and the other acted like she couldn't be bothered. The helpful one told the other what to do and she all but rolled her eyes. They got got my wife into a different set of boots and the unhelpful one told my wife to go and fill out a whole new contract and walked away. She offered no assistance at all. We were trying to get on the slopes so my wife said forget it and took the ill fitting boots back and we left. No one even bothered to help. Not the service I expected from this place. There are many options to rent on the mountain and now I will be looking in to them for next year. read more
