Went to Christy's on two occasions looking to buy a full new setup: set of boots, skis, poles and board bag. Both times the employees were condescending to my questions and curiosity about their products. I dealt with Alex - who was very cold and uninterested. I had to engage him and drive the whole convo as wasn't greeting anyone. And also dealt with a heavier set gentleman with glasses (wearing a polo shirt).. who was condescending and gave a know it all vibe. I asked him to try on a pair of boots, and he basically said no, and shut down the conversation. I took my business elsewhere and spent $2200 (including the same boots I wanted - and for $100 less). I would recommend either shopping with Ski Mountain All-Stars (Avon) or Vail Sports (next door) - both super friendly and actually have better prices for same items. read more

Very disappointed in the exchange policy . My wife received a gift from the store from some guests that we're staying with us. Unfortunately, it was the wrong size. The tag is still on the shirt with the Christie sports information but unfortunately she was told there's no exchanges without a receipt.. We will not shop there anymore. We dropped into Christy Sports last minute, just before closing, with a flat tire after our tube popped on the way up from Denver. Despite the timing, Jim Cooper was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He made sure he had the right tube before taking the bike in and had everything fixed and filled within 20 minutes. We came into this location after buying boots from another Christy's location that were way too small. Jim was super helpful and gave us a full refund on the original boot. He was the best boot fitter we've ever worked with and made sure we were put into the right boot. We have never dealt with this good of service at a ski rental store. We rented skis from Christy's and I was happy with the service. I recommend bringing your ski socks with you when you go to rent so you can get the proper size and fit for your boots. The staff was super friendly and picked out great boots and skis for me, since I was a first time skier. My friend is more experienced, and they took time with him to try on a few different boots and hooked him up with some newer skis for him to try. Returning our gear was easy too. My only complaint is that because its in the Village area, you have to haul your rented gear to and from your car quite a ways. It would be nice if they had a gear check stand somewhere a little more conveniently placed. r read more

I bought skis from Christy Vail in September and spent over $1000. Now this review is in no means a reflection of the gear. I love the gear. This is for the man I spoke to on the phone yesterday. I used the gear for the first time yesterday and fell and one of my skis did not pop off as quickly as I would have liked and I twisted my knee. I called to ask if I could have the DIN adjusted a little and the man on the phone gaslighted the hell out of me and made me feel like an idiot that there were only 3 settings and it could not be adjusted but if I were to come in it would be $35 just to take a screw driver to it when I already paid a grand. He lectured me for no reason and escalated the conversation when I was in no way placing blame. I went to the Christy in Avon instead and they were very kind and adjusted it in 30 seconds. I would appreciate a follow up from Christy Sports. read more

We rented at Christy the first day of our Vail ski trip and were not highly impressed. The staff wasn't the friendliest and very very slow. The sports package equipment was just ok - not great. The ski boots wore blisters on my ankles. We switched to another rental place for the remainder of our trip (Vail Sports) and were much more pleased with the service, equipment and location. read more

The one thing that we all want when we go skiing is for some swift service so we can get out on the slopes. Well, if that's what you're going for, this spot is not for you. This Christy Sports location has the most mind-boggling protocol for fitting boots. You would think that a good process would be to just ask a batch of people for their sizes, hand out the corresponding boots to each individual, and then amend from there depending on the fit. Instead, this location chose to handle each person one at a time. While some may think the personal attention is nice, the lack of staff meant excruciatingly slow throughput. On top of all that, the staff were disorganized and slow moving. That said, the skis were quite nice and the proximity to the slopes is definitely convenient. Overall: find somewhere else or wait until management/staff changes. ---- UPDATE: After posting this review, the store manager called me and told me that he really appreciated the feedback from my comment. He reimbursed me and two of my friends for a day of rentals for the inconvenience. I'm taking that as a sign that this Christy Sports establishment is taking steps to change their service, but you'd probably now have to wait till next season to see if or how they improve. read more

Will not go here again. Staff was lazy af and rude. When called out on horrible behavior and attitude, one staff member apologized and turned it around which I found commendable. However, the others all acted like you were a massive inconvenience when you interrupted their phone-scrolling and personal conversations (looking at you girls working in the helmet area) to ask a simple question of "how much is this helmet" since it wasn't marked. There is one exception-Quinn. He worked really hard to find a snowboard show to fit my daughter. He was professional and friendly. You need to hire more "quinns" and do some serious training with the rest of your staff. Yikes!!! read more

I purchased a pair of Oakley glasses at the Telluride Colorado Christy sports location on Dec 24th 2022. With my luck the hinge on the glasses erupted as I was coming down swingsville. Not user error, and covered in the warranty. I went to Oakley and got the run around, I went to the christys sports in lions head, also got the run around. Since the location in Telluride was closed I wasn't able to prove I owned the glasses (other then a statement from my bank and having the credit card that was used to make the purchase). Luckily I decided to try one more time to explain my situation and I met an employee by the name of Cannon. Cannon listened to me, understood I was being rational and went out of his way to communicate with the Oakley reps for me. For 3 days he dealt with the corporate run around which is compounded here in vail because Oakley does not own the Oakley store (this made no sense to me). Cannon stuck to the rules of his employment but also provided me with such an amazing customer service experience. Thank you Cannon you saved my trip! Give this guy a raise! read more

This store has about as convenient of a location as it gets and is closer to Vail's main gondola than anything else. While the prices are unsurprisingly not the kind you'd be seeking for bargain purchases, like any skiing establishment, your best bet is to buy whenever possible during off-season anyhow. If you did so, you'd be in fine shape at this joint especially because its manager is nothing short of the gold standard. Mike is friendly, modest, knowledgeable and patient and thus has a package of customer service traits that oh-so-few other managers can brandish. His down-to-earth roots probably owe plenty to him being from Iowa which is a refreshing change of pace from Vail's otherwise pretentious tendencies. On top of *that*, Mike is exceptionally honest even though he's in the business of sales. If a potential purchase isn't in your own interest, you can count on him letting you know as much straight up. I highly recommend you seek Mike out and take advantage of his expertise, Midwestern modesty, charm, sincerity and politeness. If you did so during the off-season you'd not only get to receive his help but would also get some probable bargains too on the past season's gear. No matter what, you'll always be able to trust Mike's assistance which is a rare quality indeed. read more

I understand people have bad days and empathize with those working in a customer-facing industry, but the way the entire staff treated me and my friends was unacceptable and made us feel extremely unwelcomed and uncomfortable. If I acted this way at my job I'd get fired. When we got to the store we happened to walk through the "wrong" entrance. It was our first time there, how were we supposed to know? There are multiple entrances and we went into the first one we saw coming out of the parking lot. Apparently, this is a sin to the folks that work there. We waited patiently until a staff member approached us and asked us what we needed. We said we were looking to rent skis, to which he replied, "Well, you're in the completely wrong place. We don't just come up here and take your order." And proceeded to walk away from us without saying anything else. Extremely taken aback and confused, we followed him awkwardly and kindly asked where to go. He still said nothing but led us to the other side of the store to someone who checked us in and finally told us the rental area was downstairs. Once downstairs, our experience went from bad to worse. While we were fitted fairly quickly the staff was so standoffish as we continued to be polite. As we were getting ready to leave I was about to ask if it was okay to leave our shoe bag under a bench while we skied for the day. A different place we rented from the weekend before was delighted to offer so I figured we'd ask, considering we were paying customers. Before I could speak up, someone said to my friend "Are you just going to leave that there?" I wish I could add a voice note to fully portray the outright attitude and rudeness in which they said this. My friend was flustered and apologized and asked if there was somewhere else we could leave it. With the same attitude they said we had to pay for a locker but that the bag was "too big and wouldn't fit in one, so not sure what you can do." So unhelpful. They ended up letting us leave it on top of the lockers and still charged us the $10. Fine. And then the grand finale. I originally rented for two days but hurt my knee skiing so returned them that same afternoon. The staff member that was processing my refund had no idea what he was doing, which was fine, but it had been over 10 minutes standing there waiting for him to figure it out. He then walked away to finally find someone to help. My boyfriend was with me and I had to use the restroom, so I asked him to wait there until I got back. When I got back, my boyfriend was still waiting by the register but the staff member who was helping us was nowhere to be found. Apparently, while I was gone for less than 5 minutes, the staff member came back and needed my credit card to process the refund. My boyfriend said I stepped away but that he'd call me to hurry back. To which this staff member gave him yet another horrible attitude and asked why I would leave, and complained that he had to wait for me. My boyfriend told him his attitude was not helping the situation, and he surprisingly apologized, but walked away again. When I got back he was still not there, and we waited another 5 minutes until we asked someone else to help us. This person said "Isn't so and so already helping you?" to which we replied "they were but they walked away without saying a word and we don't know where he went." Someone finally processed our refund and we happily left. Just an all around unpleasant and unprofessional experience for something that should be fun and exciting. Was it my face? Never going to this rental location again. read more
