Vail has its fair share of sport equipment rental shops but Vail Sports is conveniently located at the Lionshead Village entrance. For the summer months, visitors can rent a bike for any terrain. I wanted to see what the hype was about, so decided to try an e-bike. The bike was a very clean, class one e-bike suitable for biking/walking paths. The Bosch e-bike system was easy to use and allowed for quick change riding mode (manual, sport, turbo, etc) and being able to switch on the fly was a huge advantage when it came to riding the steep hills (going up both ways.....lol). The rental process is quick (especially since Epic Mountain has my profile) and the staff was really helpful, giving me a quick rundown on how to operate the bike. Rental rates are by half day (4 hours) or full day. Take note that folks can save 20% when reserving online versus in-store. The pricing is a little more expensive than if I had rented an e-bike thru our hotel, but Vail Sports has better maintained equipment. Rental prices do include a helmet and each bike has its own handlebar bag. I was able to ride thru the town, in the residential area and up/down Gore Creek Trail. The latter is a safe option when going between East and West Vail and does provide beautiful scenery. Upon returning the bike, the staff was also very friendly in answering my questions, helping me to decide whether or not I am going to invest in a purchase. I must say the pedal assist on some hills was a fantastic bonus to my ride. This was a great "touring" experience while visiting Vail and with the friendly and very knowledgeable staff, I would definitely recommend Vail Sports for all season equipment rental! read more

We rented bikes for a 1/2 day trip. Fair rates, great staff. We had a great time and will rent bikes there again.

After spending 15 minutes with a competitor who would not listen to what I was saying and only wanted to sell me a set of orthotics for $256 i found this place. Its located diagonally across from "Gondola One" in Vail village (244 Wall St, Vail CO). The helpfull staff introduced me to "the boot fitting expert" who, in 5 minutes transformed my day into a pain free amazing experience and charged me nothing I might add. I later found out that "Zito" is the manager of this shop. This experience represents the attitude and business model that makes me want to shop there. Its the kind of experience that makes me want to continue to spend the thousands and vacation time to come to colorado - specifically Vail. Great experience with renting bikes here. We rented for two days. Elisabeth and the other staff members we extraordinarily friendly and helpful. We had to switch out bikes a couple of times for our nine year old until he was comfortable and they made the process seamless. It was an added bonus that the shop is right at the base of the gondola, so renting and returning were simple. The bikes were very well maintained and are great quality. read more

Vail Sports is great! They have a ton of pro equipment and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Nandi and Lee will fit you with the best skis, boots and bindings. If you need equipment or clothing while in Vail make sure you stop here first! Vail Sports is located right at the base of the mountain in beautiful Vail. I would just like to say that most of the staff is wonderful and so nice. Alex is a very nice knowledgable employee and if I ever go in there again I will only speak with him! The what I assume is the store manager and boot fitter is absolutely rude. I will no longer be returning to this store because of his treatment. He sold me the wrong size boot and would not help me with anything after I bought them. They were not fitted properly either. I highly recommend Solomon in lionshead though if you are looking for wonderful service and great product!! read more

We've demoed and bought gear from this shop for a few years. The staff are extremely accommodating and patient and are very knowledgeable. While their selection of skis was somewhat limited, they had exactly what I was looking for. And as a local, while I could have driven a couple hours to get a better deal, they were more than willing to be flexible with the price. read more

Changing ski boots at end of a long day,I noticed I'd lost half a lower buckle when the screw holding it backed out. I was skiing the next morning & wanted a fully functioning boot, and swung by Vail Sports for help. Now, bear in mind it's late in the day, late in the season, and probably the last thing these guys want to see is yet another tourist with a problem. Couldn't be more wrong -- Lee F. promptly greeted me, quickly diagnosed the problem and scrounged up a 1/2 buckle & screw. Less than 5 mins later, I have a replacement buckle (not exact substitute, but good enough to do the job). Asked what I owe, expecting the worst (ah, this is Vail after all), Lee replies "nothing -- enjoy your skiing!" Awesome, simply awesome. It's little things like this that leave lasting impressions and make customers. Thanks to them, I was on first chair next day and didn't miss a run.
