I am not sure we are even writing for the correct place as it is "Vail Sports Kids Rentals." I am imagining it is however as the only other review was also one star. When we came in initially to get their equipment fitted (boots, helmets, etc...) the guy serving us, though he was sweet with our boy regarding Star Wars, it seemed he was way more interested in talking with his colleagues about a "chick night" in Breckenridge than figuring out what we actually needed. It took almost an hour to get the gear and we were literally the only people in the store (3pm on a Friday). Consequently, on the mountain (at the top of the gondola) our six year old kept walking out of his skis. The setting of the bindings could not even hold him in shuffling. I ended up tightening the bindings so he could actually practice being ON skis. My brother and I (both Vail natives, and both Vail ski instructors- though I am no longer working for the mountain) thankfully had the where with all to tighten them so that he would not get injured just walking. When we came to discuss this with the rental place at the end of the day, they argued with us and stated we had selected negative one as his skier type. I had selected the lowest skier type offered on the sign in and they stated that I had selected the type for children with special needs or ACL tears. When I inquired about where the "types" were posted, they stated that they were posted on the wall. Upon looking I realized that there was no descriptor for any "type negative one," just type one, two, and three. My guess is that if there is some discrepancy between the sign and the level that people sign up for there should be some "professional assessment" done to clarify. In addition the next morning the rental place also lost my partners rentals and searched for new skis for twenty minutes after which they had to set her up on new skis. So that was an additional bother. Really the error was an annoyance, especially considering the fact that in Lionshead with beginners you can't just hop down the mountain to get things remedied. That would require wasting your $100+ ticket. Mostly the rudeness, the arguing, and the lack of accountability was what made the experience terrible. Having worked for Vail for almost a decade in total, I know the quality of service that the resort expects. This place is certainly sub par in that regard. A quick way to repair would have been a simple apology or perhaps a discount or a comped storage bin. We will not be returning to this rental place. With so many to choose from, one would think you would strive to compete. We will go to double diamond. I should have trusted my initial instincts with that.

This January we came out to CO to ski and again my shins were in excruciating pain. I went to a boot fitter in Beaver Creek who said "the boot's not the problem, your body is the problem" ... I was about to give up the sport for good when a friend recommended Outdoor Divas. OMG - it was an amazing experience. Michael made me try on tons of boots. He was methodical in how he went about finding me the PERFECT boot. He explained everything, and spent time fixing even the tiniest little spots of discomfort. I put them on, skied that afternoon with ZERO PAIN. I was so happy I cried! I can race my 15 and 18 year old kiddos again. THANK YOU, Kim and Mike, for being absolutely THE BEST!!

Although my experience in the store conveying the issue to the manager could have been better, it was eventually escalated to Gorsuch's Director of Operations and then to Renie Gorsuch, who co-founded the store with her late husband, Dave. The Director of Operations was very accommodating and helpful, showed sincere concern about my experience , and wanted to be as cooperative as possible in terms of sharing my experience with the vendor (manufacturer of the candle) to further investigate the candle's design and materials. I received a beautiful wooden and pewter serving piece as a goodwill gesture, which was much appreciated and as a sign of encouragement, that Gorsuch is trying hard to retain customers, instill a culture of friendliness among the store staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and meeting the challenges of a labor shortage. Thank you, Gorsuch!!

I was also told it was covered by a 2 year warranty and 60 day return policy in the event it didn't stand up to the weather. Sounded good so I bought it. Wore it once - not even to ski; just to test it out on a cold, snowy day.  In less than 2 hours, the seams at the bottoms of the pants began to degrade and I was frozen.  It felt like it had no wind protection whatsoever.  I brought it back for a warranty claim to the Northface in Vail Village, Vail, Colorado (141 E Meadow Dr Ste 107, Vail, CO 81657), and Northface refused to accept the return, stating it doesn't stand behind its products once worn.  IT DOESN'T STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS ONCE WORN????????? I was shocked.  This is supposed to be performance apparel for athletes.  If a ski outfit can't stand up to a short hike at the base of a mountain, how could you trust it to actually ski in?  Appalled Northface won't stand by its products.  Certainly, I will never shop with them again if this is the case.  The clerk was a young man and I am hoping he was mistaken - tried to contact corporate and they haven't responded. I'll update this if they do.  This outfit hasn't even been skied in.  If you are an athlete DO NOT BUY FROM NORTHFACE. They do not stand behind their apparel. If you just care about aesthetics, go crazy, but if you're actually hoping for athletic performance from this stuff, you'll be very disappointed.

Thankfully, I stumbled across Performance Sports, and one of their awesome staffers, Bullitt who hooked me up with a nice deal on some great gear! This may seem small to some, but all their benches lift up for storage, which is a HUGE plus in my book. Now I don't have to stop at a locker to drop off my regular sneakers/boots...I can just leave my kicks right there in the rental shop. When I returned later that day, swapping skis for shoes was an easy process... I was walking out the door and off to some après ski pubs in no time!

If you're in Vail, this is a great location with friendly and helpful staff. Whether we were looking for sale or regular priced items, the staff was incredibly helpful. The store (and staff) are super dog friendly as well which was a bonus. This location isn't huge, but it has all the basics, seasonal, and popular items you would be looking for (especially if you're looking for something "mountain-appropriate"). It's definitely worth stopping by if you're looking for some extra layers to wear or just to check out some gear (and in our case, purchase a bunch of items we didn't plan on or really need, but really wanted after we saw them). :)

Both times the employees were condescending to my questions and curiosity about their products. I dealt with Alex - who was very cold and uninterested. I had to engage him and drive the whole convo as wasn't greeting anyone. And also dealt with a heavier set gentleman with glasses (wearing a polo shirt).. who was condescending and gave a know it all vibe. I asked him to try on a pair of boots, and he basically said no, and shut down the conversation. I took my business elsewhere and spent $2200 (including the same boots I wanted - and for $100 less). I would recommend either shopping with Ski Mountain All-Stars (Avon) or Vail Sports (next door) - both super friendly and actually have better prices for same items.

The tag is still on the shirt with the Christie sports information but unfortunately she was told there's no exchanges without a receipt.. We will not shop there anymore.
