I always stop by when I'm in town. They always have a large selection of bourbons. Staff is friendly, and I can usually find a bottle of bourbon goodness that I want to take home. Secondary prices for allocated bourbons seem reasonable compared to other stores. Only complaint is occasionally the floor is over stocked with cases and displays of brown liquid goodness, like the don't have a big enough of a stock room. Make sure you take your time looking around cause it can be a bourbon hid and seek. read more

This liquor store has become my go to when I'm in town. It's close but it also has a ton of options. Pretty much anything you're looking for they will likely have, and I've often seen an employee or two out answering questions or giving recommendations when I'm here. Their cold beer selection is pretty solid, but they have a ton of different ones that aren't refrigerated that are worth looking into as well. They also have a drive thru which I've never been through but I often see cars in line. Must be nice to know what you like but I can't help from walking around and checking out the array of options. The staff I've encountered has always been friendly and helpful. I'll continue coming back. read more

Val-U Liquors has the largest selection of liquor, wine and beer (including microwbrew beer) in Owensboro Ky. This is a locally owned business that is run by the third generation in our family. We specialize in customer service. If you have a special event that you are planning, let us recommend selections, quantities and even bartenders! If you can't find what you are looking for in our store, we will see if it is available from our distributors and order it for you. Try us, you won't be disappointed.

History

Established in 1980.

This store is owned by the Smith family. The first liquor store owned by our family was Park Plaza Liquor Store, opened by Richard Smith Sr. in 1968. Richard Smith III took over this business in 1972 and subsequently owned: Mr. Whiskey, Gabes Tower Liquors, House of Firewater and Iron Horse Liquors. When Richard III died, his daughter, Nicole, agreed to take over the business and loves it! Nicole graduated from Apollo High School and Centre College. She is customer oriented. If you have any kind of event to plan, she can suggest products and quantities to purchase for the size of your crowd that are sure to please. If you need a local bartender, she can put you in touch. ***We appreciate our long-term customers. We were formerly located at Alvey Park Drive. That is no longer our family's store.

Meet the Manager: Nikki S.

Nikki is a 2002 graduate of Apollo High School and a 2006 graduate of Centre College. She is currently attending Western KY University toward an MBA. Nikki is following in her father's footsteps. The family has been in the liquor business since 1972 and has survived by giving the best customer service in the Owensboro, KY area.

This place had a huge selection! But the older man that works at night is always wasted off his rear end and is rude as can be! I don't see how they have long time customers when he's that hateful! He talks to you like your a idiot and cusses while my children are in the back seat(probably because he's intoxicated) and your thinking about what beverage you want for the night he just says are you ready or not and then just slams the door! We told him to forget it tonight and just drove all the way out of our way to be have someone respectful! Will never be back there ever ever again! With his attitude he should be unemployed! If this was to ever be the only liquor store in town I'd drive out of town! He makes that place look bad! But on a good note, their selection is awesome and hopefully will return some day when he's not there! read more

This store has the best selection in Owensboro KY. If you are looking for a particular wine or craft beer, they probably have it! It is right off of Highway 54 (behind the Wendy's) and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They can advise you of the right amounts of liquor wine or beer for any size party. read more

Was in this store over Memorial Day weekend. HUGE selection of wine and microbrew beer! The person who waited on me even carried my cases of beer out to my car. I'll go back cause this is the best liquor store in Owensboro. read more
