I have been a loyal customer of Valentinos since 2017. Recently I have been disappointed in the overall quality of service provided by the check in desk and the shampoo people. They seem to feel they are doing you a favour by taking your money, often not making eye contact or acknowledging your presence while they stare at their screen or scroll through their phone. I felt like I was interrupting their gossip session on more than one occasion. Not to mention their lack of manners, please and thank you go a long way in the service industry. The last straw was my last appointment when the shampoo girl not only sprayed me with the water and didn't offer me a towel or an apology! She then swore at me because she got wet! When I pointed out that there was some colour still left at my neck line she yelled at me! Management did nothing to compensate me for the aggressive and unprofessional treatment I was given, promised me they would make it up to me by providing a service free of charge at my next appointment. But, they never booked the appointment for me! I called today asked to speak with a manager and the manager was unable to speak with me because they would be in a meeting from 9 am to 1pm.. still no return call. If you want to pay high prices and be treated badly by the front end staff go to Valentinos. It really is a shame because I loved my colourist and stylist but I refuse to give my hard earned money to someone that could care less about your over all experience. read more

Valentinos Review I do not recommend anyone to spend their money here as the management does not care about the people in or behind the chair. I was hired here 5 years ago, after bringing my things to the salon & settling in they informed me I had to change my name. I was never presented with a contract to fully understand the terms of employment here. They took full advantage of my lack of salon knowledge, put me on clients the first day & lied to their clients about my experience. I was supposed to receive "extensive training" and got barely anything. In my five years, I was maybe sent on 3-4 courses that my education fund covered (the products the clients buy go into our education fund, we do not physically see that money) however there is about 3 years I received no education & no show for the money I put into my fund. I asked to be given the money in that fund as I was not being given the education I was promised, I unfortunately will never see a single dollar of it (that you, as a paying client, actually paid for). I was forced to do free services for the salon, making $0 for the time I was servicing their client and expected to be at the salon. When I asked for the manager to explain if it is legal for me to be working for free, she disregarded the question and was never actually answered. I was actually written up by the salon manager for refusing to do a free service, when they had hourly employees available. During my write up, I sat in an office with 3 managers, no one representing me or having my back. I was met with personal slander that actually had nothing to do with the write up at hand. When I chose to end my employment here, I was expecting to do my last two weeks & immediately had my access removed & clients moved out of my day without any notice to me. I have reached out the salon director many times regarding the two weeks I was supposed to work & seeking clarity on questions, which have not been acknowledged by the salon director or salon owner. I am incredibly disappointed that I dedicated 5 years of my life to this salon to be treated this way when deciding my peace is more important than putting money in Valentinos pocket. read more

This has always been my go to salon for color services-and have always had great experiences with the exception of my last two visits. A few months back I had booked a Full Balayge appointment-when I arrived, we went over what it was I wanted to do and began. Now Valentino's hands you off to an assistant once the color is applied. This is the person who will do the toner and wash the colour out etc. No problem-but I never got to see my colorist again after my hair was done. After it was washed and dryed, I was a a little surprised as my hair looked almost identical as when I arrived. I was in her chair for maybe 15 minutes applying the cvolour. I went to check out and $300 dollars later, I felt I needed to address the price and my confusion around the colour. I sent an email and they got back to me explaining the technique and product used etc, which was great-helped me understand. All good-they even said they would put a complimentary service on my file for the next time I visited to make up for the confusion. So next time comes around-I go in for m colour appointment, and again-I don;t see the colorist once again after m hair is done. Does she not want to see the final result? Check to make sure Im happy? I don't feel it was my responsibility to search for her while she was working on another client and interrupt. There's got to be a better system. Anyhow, very unhappy with my colour-went to check out (without being able to see my colorist and address concern) and no mention of the complimentary service they were offering from last times mishap. I replied to the Satisfaction email feeling completely defeated-and crickets. Service really has slumped. read more

I would probably give Valentino a five star for the job that my colorist does each and every time. I've been coming to Valentino's now for probably over 25 years. I get my highlights and coloring done by usually the same person each time. Anytime there's been a problem that I might not have liked the color. She always bends over backwards to correct it which I think is maybe happened two or three times in 25 years The person who washed my hair was very polite, she definitely needed some lessons and how to wash - soap, and water continually going into my ears and I asked for a leave in treatment which once she applied it, she proceeded to towel dry my hair. Like what's the point of getting a treatment if you're going to wipe it all off with the towel I asked for a blow dry, which I still cannot believe they charge after the ridiculous fee that you pay for getting your hair highlighted or a root touchup, you don't even get a blow dry included. I know you're probably thinking well you should be used to that by now but I'll never get used to it because there is not one other place that I've ever been to that charges for a blow blow dry after you've paid for a colouring. You don't pay extra when they cut your hair for a blow dry so what's the difference?? So needless to say, I've always just self blow, dried , but this time I was in a bit of a hurry, and was going out, so I decided to treat myself. I should've saved myself the $30. My hair looked greasy and oily and flat. She didn't really ask me what product I use so she just went ahead and threw some product in. Her blow drying technique left a lot to be desired and then she proceeded to use the curling iron to give me a bit of a curl, which she then completely flattened, and straightened out with her fingers and the hairspray, today my hair looks so greasy and frizzy. Suffice it to say I will never spend another $30 on a 15 minute blow dry!! read more

While some may say it's expensive I say its the best colour and cut every time! That makes it worth it. The staff are friendly amd welcoming, the Covid protocols are great and I feel safe. I love 'Ella', she does a great job every time amd her blow outs are awesome if you like the old school roller brush! She's your girl. Elise is my Stylist! She is amazing. It's great to be able to see your stylist and know that she has your best interest at heart. She knows my hair, the density of it, the coarsness of it, how it frizzes etc and Elise knows exactly what needs to be done in the cut to ensure that thinning is done correctly to help hold the style. Elise knows how I prefer to wear my hair and even though I am stuck in the 80s with my likes of hair styles, she always finds a way to modernize it, subtly. Elise has been my hair stylist for about 6 years now and I am so grateful that she was recommended to me when Pam left. Elise is a top stylist, is open and honest. Elise listens to your ideas and helps to ensure that the outcome of your visit leaves you happy with your style and with the service provided. Some will say Valentino's is way too expensive but you get what you pay for so it's worth it!! I would not hesitate to recommend Elise to others. Fair warning, once she's done your hair once you will want to continue to see her as your stylist but know now, she is extremely popular and sought after so if you get in once, best to book further appointments in advance. I did one of those DIY bleach jobs over Covid and it didn't not turn out good. Hannah was so great at managing my hair. I have waist length very thick curly hair and she did such an amazing job correcting my mistakes and was very gentle with my hair! I left loving my new blonde colour and will definitely be going back!! The salon was also very friendly and had great precautions in place to keep the staff and the guests safe during this time. My best friend got married this past New Year's Eve, and she made appointments for all the bridesmaids and her at this salon. She has been coming here for a long time and has nothing but good things to say about this place - and her hair always look fantastic! I had been itching to get a new cut for a while, and since we already had appointments booked for our hairdo's, I decided to book extra early and get a cut before my style. The salon is HUGE! It has two stories and is bright and clean. The staff are friendly and attentive, and super accommodating. I was taken to the second floor, given a robe and offered a drink while I waited for my stylist - Jenna. She arrived 5 minutes later and greeted me warmly and asked me what I had in mind for my haircut. She listened and gave me some great advice. Also, she wasn't scissor happy and super enthusiastic to chop all of my long hair off. The cut turned out great - unfortunately I wasn't able to see the final product all blow dried and finished until the next day, because I had to get my hair put in pin curls for the wedding (my friend chose a 1940's style for all of us). But Jenna was very friendly, funny and asked me what I thought about a few extra inches off, some bangs and some short layers - She didn't take artistic liberties with my hair before asking, and I loved that! She also set my hair in curls and styled it perfectly for the wedding. In fact, my hair turned out the best of all the bridesmaids, and it looked like a Dita Von Teese do - LOVED it! Some of the bridesmaids were not happy with their hair because they felt it was too flat on their heads - an the stylists were very accommodating and more than willing to redo their hair and give it more volume. All in all, I had a very pleasant experience as did the rest of the bridal party, including the bride who looked beautiful and was satisfied with the way we all looked. Jenna was amazing (she is the curl expert at this salon!) - and because her hair is curly and full like mine, I felt that she really understood what worked for me and how to make sure my hair looked its best. I think I've found my hair stylist soul mate - yay! read more

Out of all Heather is a gem but overall they are not in Fiorio or Danato's class and is completely overpriced based on the fact most of the stylist are simply from the school he's running there too. I came to Valentino's for the second time a few weeks ago. I had asked around for a new hair salon in Whitby and the overwhelming response was "Valentinos". Having had a great experience the first time, I expected more of the same this time and was not disappointed. This is a very busy salon but I felt like I was the only person in there during my visit. Maggie, my colorist, is super friendly, has great suggestions and really made me feel like I was being focused on and treated well. Eli, my hair stylist, is the same. She's very meticulous but does a fantastic job on my cut. On her recommendation we took off substantial length both times in order to curb the split ends I had. Now, my hair looks super healthy. I have bought product here after Eli used it on me as a finishing product and her suggestion was great. She did tell me it would last me forever (the one bottle) and she was right; it will take me forever to go through the small bottle of product so it was well worth the money I spent on it. The first time I came I had no idea how long I would be in the salon for and my meter started running out. I asked Maggie when would be a good time for me to pop out and top it up and she called someone over to do it for me! Above and beyond is the name of the game at Valentinos. Overall, a great hair salon with great staff. I will continue to come back here and highly recommend this salon. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have been to Valentino's about 3x now and leave always feeling like a goddess. It's a different type of hair salon - first you have your colourist (washes too!) then you have the second floor where any cutting or styling happens (blow try too!). It's different but I love it. I get my hair done by Ysabel and she's so unique and friendly - she has done magic to my hair, not only with colouring but with bringing it back to life with any treatments that may be needed. I travel 45 minutes to see her haha so it's totally worth it! It's also very price friendly too. Initially I was quoted at a 400-500 job (balayage) at one salon..... went to Valentino's and paid around $250-300ish. Highly recommend. read more

If you've ever had to relocate (especially country-wise) and find a new stylist, I hearz ya: Stylist (mine is the lovely and easy-going Thea): - Someone who listens to *you*: I've never been disappointed - ever. And that's because I feel like she listens to what I want. Even when it's a post-cut adjustment. - Also have different levels of experience/pricing and specialties! My Asian-type hair and face haven't appreciated any of the "Jennifer Aniston"-esque haircuts that I've been subjected to over the years. So if you want a stylist who's more experienced with your hair type, ask and ye shall receive! Customer service: - I bought a product that epic failed (read: a $25 can that slowly emptied into the cap after I used it once) and was offered an exchange or credit. Even though it was clearly a manufacturer's fail. - I had to call and reschedule an appointment 3x in one month (I swear it wasn't my fault...). Was easy, handled quickly, and very politely every time. It's clean. And pretty. And really, really big. And I park for free at the grocery store one block away, hehe... read more

My daughter went in for silver white highlights, instead she came out with two shades of brassy yellow despite paying for two visits to get the colour style she was looking for. Complete disappointment!!! Even after a toner fix & two visits totalling over $400.00 her hair has two brassy yellow shades, nothing close to the silver white highlights she had specifically gone in for. We trusted the stylist Victoria who reassured us that she could get the silver white highlights in two visits. Arrived before appointment time of 12:45am. Went for a cut and die. Been here three time before for the same thing. From 1 to 5pm I sat with the girl to die my hair. Then was move to a sink where I sat for the next hour. The girl that was gonna cut my hair started applying die in the sink. I was told we would discuss the colour before but that didn't happen. When 6pm came I asked questions about why this was so different from any other visit. That when the ladies that was supposed to be cutting my hair who was apply die at the time in the sink. Got irritated with me for asking questions. Was very demeaning and condescending. After she yelled at me and started to accuse me of being rude because I started to ask questions I no longer wanted to be there. I had the die washed out immediately as I was in tears. The girl had gotten water all over the face mask I was wearing. When I was trying to wipe the water off my face the same girl started to yell at me from the other end of the salon. I walked out with my hair soaking wet and looking like shit. I will never go back there and will share my story every chance I get. Fuck this place!!! read more

I had an amazing hair cut with the very talented Trish! I showed her a couple of pictures of hairstyles I liked on my phone and we discussed all the details. She's a great listener and totally understood what I was going for. Loved my experience! The salon itself has a very nice atmosphere and everyone here seems rather friendly. Definitely recommended. The employees are always pleasant. I saw Lo for the first time, and she is simply terrific! I absolutely love my hair cut, she was very friendly and made suggestions, she listened, she was just great. Unfortunately, i feel that Valentinos is no longer interested in their clients, its all about $$$$. I dont mind paying for a service that i am satisfied with, but when they tell you "it will take a couple if sessions, before we can achieve what you want", and you never get what you want is extremely irritating and disappointing. I have gone to salons in Toronto where i showed them the colour and they achieved it the very first time. But at Valentinos I have to go 3, 4 session of $200 plus and no results. And their answer is "try our master colourist" which I always do. If I am paying for a service, whether is a master or a studio or a new talent they should know or be supervised to do a job well done. And I believe that is not the employees fault, its management/owners that have set this expectations of them, for the obvious reason.I guess I'm just tire of paying for no results. read more

I've been a client of Valentino's for about 20 years. Throughout that time, I've seen many changes, always for the better. Staff are all courteous and very well trained. In fact, staff have many opportunities to train internationally bringing back new techniques and ideas that advance their skills. While I love my stylist, I wouldn't be afraid to try someone new as they're all so good. I've recommended others and they've also been pleased. I would suggest however, that they bring back mimosas during the holidays and hand massages the rest of the time!! You can never have too much fun at Valentino's! read more

I went to Valentino's for the second time today. My stylist is awesome, her name in Nicola. She is very personable and gives a great cut, the best. My colour today didn't go as well as planned, but they did fix it. I don't love it, but I can work with it. Thank you. I did spend about 4.6 hours there and when I went out to my car I had a ticket. FFFFFFudge. I think management should have spoke to me about my service or even asked me at the end of the day if I was happy. You think going to a prestigious salon, you would get prestigious services. Someone could have reminded me about paying for parking. I don't blame the colour artists at all.... not all hair is the same and peoples likes and dislikes are different. However I do think that the management needs an upgrade.
