Valhalla Dental Care is excellent. Dr. Kessler's thorough approach sets the tone, and Dr. Gleis adds attentive, clear care. He explains each step, which helps if you get nervous at the dentist. Both doctors have a seamless, outstanding referral process that let me experience their care firsthand. The professionalism and customer service here, especially from Shanele, are outstanding. She is warm and welcoming and makes every visit pleasant. My hygienist, Toni, is very thorough and calming. I liked the care so much I moved my whole family here, and now I'm trying to get my husband to join us. If you haven't been to Valhalla Dental Care, give them a try! read more

My husband recently went to Valhalla Dental Care. He was told beforehand that they accepted his insurance and that his insurance would cover his cleaning. A few days ago, he got a bill for $223 for his cleaning. He called, and they told him that he was out of network after telling him it was covered. They said a cleaning was almost $490, so they wrote half of it off. This sounds like a huge bait and switch to us. He made sure that they carried his insurance and talked to them several times beforehand. They also recommended several expensive procedures for thousands of dollars. Review for Valhalla Dental My experience with Valhalla Dental was extremely disappointing and distressing. When I asked the doctor a simple question about what he saw that required changing my crown, he did not explain his clinical reasoning. Instead, he said that he "would not change the crown if it was not necessary." That did not answer my question -- I simply wanted to understand what he was seeing and why he believed the crown needed to be replaced. His tone felt dismissive and irritated, as if my asking was an inconvenience rather than a reasonable patient concern. At the time, I thought maybe he was just having a bad day. I regret not trusting my instincts and walking out at that moment, but I was already there and felt pressured to proceed. The molar had not been causing me any problems before this visit; however, after he worked on it, the new crown never felt right. Shortly afterward, I developed a root infection and had to undergo a root canal. Beyond the physical pain, this has created a significant financial burden. I had to pay for the root canal, and now my new dentist believes the damage may be so significant that the molar might need to be removed entirely because there may not be enough remaining tooth structure to properly support the crown. This could require an implant, which would add thousands of dollars in additional costs. This was by far the most upsetting -- and potentially most costly -- dental experience I have ever had. read more

I literally can not believe the poor customer service I just received at this establishment. I was very excited to go to this office. I called before hand to verify they took my insurance and was told over the phone that it was accepted . I spoke with a representative named Chanel. She set my appointment for 7 am which is extremely early. I got to my appointment on time and then she tells me that they do not accept my insurance. This is something she could have verified over the phone before having me come in at 7 am to waste my time. I had to wake up so early and rearrange my day for this. She was not apologetic at all and did not offer any solutions other than paying out of pocket which is not something that anyone can do in this financial economy, especially when I have insurance. This could have been avoided by simply verifying my insurance over the phone when setting my appointment. I am beyond dissappointed in this experience and I cannot believe that such a nice establishment has someone working their front desk and claiming to be the manager who shows no empathy and does not do her job diligently. This is such a shame. I am really disheartened. Do not go here without verifying your insurance information first even if they tell you over the phone they accept the type. Call your insurance company first to verify. They will waste your time ! read more

Review Update After my initial visit I went back to have them take care of an issue they found. The appointment took 4 HOURS and 45 minutes of that was waiting because they were running behind. I had bruises on my face from how much pressure they used. I'm fairly certain they charged me wrong, but I haven't been able to get a hold of them. This is particularly unfortunate because I would really like to figure out the money thing and because my tooth still hurts! All in all, it was probably one of the worst dentist visits I've ever had. read more

I had my second appointment with Dr. Kulb today at the Shelbyville Rd location. She is wonderful! I've never had a dentist who has explained everything as thoroughly as Dr Kulb does. She's also very friendly and caring. The entire staff has been extremely welcoming. I know that sometimes going to the dentist is an unpleasant experience, but I'm thankful this has not been the case here. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I'm sad to here they are closing the Shelbyville Rd location, because it is closer to me. Yesterday, I visited Valhalla Dental for my appointment with the dental hygienist. As usual, the entire staff was professional and polite. What was unusual was having to call from my car when I arrived, then wait for a return call saying I can enter (with my mask on), and then following social distancing once I was inside. I am not complaining, just letting you know the process. Upon entry, my temperature was taken with a device that didn't need to touch my skin, and everyone had masks and gloves on. I felt perfectly safe being there. It is important to me to maintain the health of my teeth. Valhalla Dental is making that possible. Just wanted you to know. read more

Going to the dentist is typically either not memorable or really really bad. Dr. Kessler and his team make going to the dentist about as good as you can ever hope for it to be. He is a consummate professional and his attention to detail and high standards are apparent in every aspect of the visit. He takes time to talk with his patients, explain procedures and, what I found most amazing, recap the work performed at the end of each visit. So often at doctors' appointments I feel like I am being churned over as quickly as possible. Not at Valhalla. I've been to exactly 7 different dental practices in my lifetime and my experience at Valhalla tops them all. Dr. Kessler took the time to personally call me prior to my appointment to welcome me to his practice. I received a cool Valhalla reusable cup when I arrived for my appointment, and I do believe I spent more time going over dentistry and my oral consultation in one visit with Dr. Kessler than I have spent with all my previous dentists combined. He takes the time to discuss your dental history and any concerns, what you expect out of him, and what he expects out of you to continue to have a healthy smile. I had a tooth with a 30 year old filling and it cracked in half over the Thanksgiving holiday. I called Valhalla Dental Care and they got me in right away. They discussed my options and then went to work. I got a temp crown and scheduled a visit to come back in three weeks. Went back and had the new crown put on. It felt like old times. Very smooth and the color was a perfect match. The personal in the office are very friendly and helpful. They will explain the cost and go through the insurance coverage if you have it. I believe they have a payment option too! If you are looking for a dentist I would recommend Dr.Kessler. He explains everything, has lots of experience and a great staff. read more

Dr. Kessler provided me with a unique first visit! He did my initial, new client teeth cleaning, you know, to get to know my teeth. He also spent quite a while with me just chatting about myself as well as my goals for dental care. He uses a sonic "something" to break off plaque instead of scraping. Woah, that made a HUGE difference. I normally hate plaque removal. The staff is wonderful, so welcoming and fun to gab with. He has late hours on Tuesdays! He sent me home with a welcome gift too! My fillings were "tolerable", but what fillings aren't? I look forward to returning to discuss how my bite is impacting my teeth, will update! read more

Do not go to Valhalla Dental Care if you are planning to use Care Credit. They only do 6 months even if the charge is over $1100 Not only that but I was not told at time of purchase it was only 6 months. I was told the reason was because the interest was too high but it's ok for me to pay it. I was also told I could not change to another card unless I paid a fee. I know there are plenty of other dentists that are less expensive and do better work. It is sad because I had been a patient for over 11 years. Very disappointed with Dr. Kessler. read more

Don't go here. They just don't get it. They expect young kids to independently floss. They want you to pay for unnecessary procedures. They told us we needed to have our 7 year old's tooth extracted and 3 people stood over us and made us feel like bad parents. We had a second opinion from a pediatric dentist. It turned out the tooth needed a small filling that took 10 minutes and Dr Kessler had missed another cavity. As adults their hygienists make you feel like kids. They are judgemental and unpleasant. They made be located a bit off the beaten path, but you can always pull right up to their door and I've never had to wait to be seen! Not that I would mind a bit of a wait, since emergencies do happen, but their friendly atmosphere would make any wait time pleasant. Dr. Kessler and his staff provide prompt and friendly services without the pressure My friends and family and I have found at other dentists office, which is to buy specific products or have costly cosmetic procedures performed. They offer helpful suggestions to help you have your best smile and are very conscience. One amazing experience I had was having a new bite guard made. I had never cared for my other bite guards, as they were cumbersome and I often times still awakened with a stiff jaw from clenching my teeth in my sleep. For a very affordable price, Dr. Kessler created a bite guard that not only fits perfectly, but my once stiff jaw has disappeared. It has unique design I've never seen and since many people do grind their teeth at night, whether they know it or not, I highly recommend his innovated bite guard. read more
