To start off, my wife and I actually picked this bed and breakfast as a desperate attempt to get out of town for a little R&R. Little did we know that this place would quickly feel like a hidden gem to us. We booked a week in January and had the entire 2nd floor(where the rooms are) to ourselves. The first morning coming down for breakfast, we were welcomed very warmly by Sherry, one of the owners, who cooked us a grand meal herself! Each and every breakfast thereafter was spectacular and equally delicious. We also got to meet her husband, Eldon, who chatted with us for a bit and gave us a brief history of how he came back to South Dakota. The rooms that we stayed in were very comfortable and inviting. We slept very well and had plenty of space at the desk to eat and practice our little hobbies. I also have to add that the wine was fantastic as well, Sherry even let us try a couple of bottles! They were so good that I of course had to stock up on a few bottles for the wife before we left. It was a sad day when we finally had to leave but we will definitely be back! Stopped for a bottle of a cool white wine on a warm summer day. Service was fine, place was quiet and enjoyable. Nice view outside!

I had mixed feelings about writing this review because the owners seem to be very good people, but it's only fair to write this review. The location is nice, they seem very accommodating to anyone coming in, but their wines and distillery drinks all tasted like rubbing alcohol. I wanted to ask the waitress how long the bottles that she served us from had been open since this would alter the taste of any wine, but she never came back after serving us. My husband and I shared a tasting..most of it was left behind because it was unpleasant to drink. read more

This is just a "one and done" place. We assume they are still in business because they are the only game in town for the parents that are visiting SDSU students. The building is.... odd for a winery. It is a two-story metal clad building with a some slight, inexplicable German touches. It was nice that there was a deck to sit on, but not nice was annoying barking dogs and VERY not nice that smoking was allowed (gross!!). The deck upstairs had a better view, but was strangely only accessible via a darkly paneled meeting room. Both decks were in need of maintenance. All of that said, the biggest reason we will not be returning was because of the drinks. The photo attached shows two Old Fashioneds. The front glass was *before* I took a sip! And it was $8! This place was awesome I will definitely be going back. I was dropping my son off at the university and we stayed at the vineyard. Super cool. The manager was great and super helpful. I recommend the old fashion and the bourbon barrel American Chardonnay....rum is legit also. We had our wedding here and it was beautiful! Staff was extremely kind and helpful, the venue was clean, the B&B upstairs was clean and extremely relaxing. They made sure our day went off without a hitch and the food at our reception was INCREDIBLE! We had a taco bar and our guests can't stop talking about it! Our dog was able to attend our outdoor ceremony as well. Beautiful place to have a wedding cannot recommend enough! read more

We were on a search for cooler weather and a break form the heat and decided to take a road trip north and the weather was perfect and so was the location. We were greeted by the owner as we entered the building and he gave us the rundown on the location. We were then assisted at the bar and I love how they used an antique bar in the location. We tried several wines and decided on a glass of the Tickled Pink with a nice touch of a Strawberry on top. We also ordered the Charcuterie Board and it was delivered as we sat on the patio and listened to the rain on the steel roof and enjoyed the views and the wonderful weather! When we were ready to leave we purchased some wines and a bottle of Brandy. We are looking forward to come back for a night at the bed and Breakfast and to explore the area. read more

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the vineyard two years ago. The staff was great, and very accommodating. Adrienne was very patient and helpful throughout the planning process. The food was amazing! Our guests still to this day rave about how good the food was. We ordered the pot roast and the turkey, they were so tender they practically melted in your mouth. The entire experience was incredible, my husband and I joke about divorcing to have the experience of another reception here. The pricing for the reception was very reasonable, it would have cost five times the amount where we live. We recently stayed again at the vineyards, as before the staff was friendly and accommodating. We did a wine tasting and a tour with Adrienne. The wine is so good you would think you were in Paris. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was delicious! We would recommend Valiant Vineyards to everyone who is looking for an amazing wedding/reception location, a weekend getaway, or a place to spend the afternoon sampling phenomenal wine and talking with a wonderful and knowledgeable staff. read more

"Seeing the sights" in Vermillion is not a particularly time-consuming effort, so the BF and I headed to Valiant VIneyards for an hour on a horrifically muggy day. We called ahead a few times to see when we could get a tour, but we got varied answers and so just went in when we had a chance. Homey, I think that would be the right word. The 'tasting room' is a nice wood bar where you pull up a stool and have someone pour you any wine they have to try, in a sort of come-hell-or-high-water tasting flight situation. They let us try everything they had in stock, but they were out of a few things. Mostly table wines, and of course their most interesting wine (that frankly tasted exactly like a $250 glass of french fanciness that I had at the French Laundry) was their least popular and on the sale rack. Score. The tour was a bit -- well, let's go back to homey. A vintner took us down the basement, and pointed at things, and then sent us back up the elevator. He was nice, of course, and it was interesting to know that the 'vineyard' at this location is mostly for show, and they grow their grapes elsewhere. All in all, not a bad place to escape the heat (or later, snow.) Homey. Rustic. Not Napa. read more

Found this on Harvest Hosts, a listing of places to boondock the RV overnight. Even though it's boon docking, there was water and as long as they are open one can use the facilities. They offered to do a tasting and the wine was pleasant enough after the drive from Kansas City. The tasting room is clean and there is a nice porch where one could enjoy a glass of their finest while watching planes take off from the nearby airport. I'd stop here again as the folks were really welcoming on a hot afternoon. read more

Booked a room there thru Airbnb. 24 hours went by with no response so Airbnb cancelled the booking. So the next day I emailed them directly and 24 hours went by with no response. I understand if something happened or if they got filled up before they could respond but very disappointed that they couldn't even take the time to let us know. Not a good way to run a business. My wife and I will just have to make other plans and take our business somewhere else. I would give 0 stars if that was allowed. read more

Valiant Vineyards is our favorite winery. There is a wonderful selection of wines for all wine lovers, regardless of your taste in wine. In addition to amazing wine, Valiant Vineyards offers a wonderful vodka, brandy, and rum. They also serve a handful of beers for those who are less adventurous. :) The views from the large decks are breathtaking and a perfect way to enjoy a glass or bottle of amazing wine or spirits. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting room manager is an absolute delight. read more

Awsome Winery and Distillery. They make unbelievable bloody marys with their Vodka, (they distilled grape wine to make their vodka). Great, knowledgeable staff. We were in Vermillion for the college graduation and were pleasantly surprise to find this gem. The bed and breakfast was full but we got to look inside a couple of rooms and then had to stay somewhere else (sad face). Winery? It doesn't look like a winery. It's a large house type building with Winery on the outside. We stayed one night, but really couldn't sleep because an outside door to the hallway does not lock. The wine is not very good compared to wine from California, Chile, or Argentina! read more
