The drive took about 45 minutes to the Conrad. They returned to pick us up like promised. Arrived when they said they would and took us back in a private car. Definitely worth the service and peace of mind.

At the Puerto Vallarta airport, we walked past all the drivers with their signs until we exited the airport and was outside. Right outside, we found our name and Vallarta Vamanos representative. He double-checked our information, reminded us to pay the amount in cash, and offered us bottled water. Then, he directed us over to the side of the road where our driver would meet us. Alvaro was the one who picked us up and drove us over to Punta de Mita which is about 45 minutes away. He was friendly and told us about the surrounding area, like the new Vidanta World that is being built in Puerto Vallarta. He asked if we wanted to stop for some great seafood, there was no extra cost to make a little stop before we got to our destination. So we said sure, and he brought us to Bucerias and we ate at a nice restaurant where he said they go out to get fresh oysters. The oysters were huge! We enjoyed the meal and he sat with us and he told us some stories. The view was nice since it was sunset time. Afterwards, we went on our way again and he brought us to our hotel. He was super nice and friendly! Our ride back to the airport after a few days of vacation was also pleasant. Our driver was someone else and he was also professional and friendly.

We were 8 ppl total (4 were kids ranging from 1-5years old) so I rented a private van. I had requested 3 car seats since my oldest can sit in an actual seat if needed. Pickup at Airport to Hotel: We were greeted with a sign at pickup. Three diff folks in Airgo uniform was helping us with our luggage. When we got to the private van, I saw that car seats weren't loaded. We asked & they quickly went to go get some. However the seatbelt for my infant car seat wouldn't tighten. My daughters car seat wouldn't buckle. We were not impressed with the experience. Pickup at Hotel to Airport: After the first experience, I emailed specifically mentioning that I need 3 working car seats. Of course, private van showed up with one car seat only. I was so disappointed! The ride is a 20 min ride and I felt uncomfortable the entire time. I would not recommend this car transportation company.

Getting a taxi can be sketchy in Puerto Vallarta. Some of the drivers are nice and ethical, others…read morenot so much. We were surprised when a large air conditioned van showed up to take four of us to a restaurant - usually the larger vans just do airport transportation. The driver, Hugo, was very nice and said not to worry he'd take us to the restaurant. He said he has driven one person if they needed a ride. He also kept the air conditioning on which some don't do because it eats up more gas. Since he was so nice, we told him that we were heading to the airport later and would be happy to use him. He gave us a card and said to call 10 minutes before we were done. Just as we were getting ready to have the server call for us, we saw him pull up! He waited for us to finish, drove us back to the hotel, waited for us to get our luggage, then drove us to the airport. He only charged us 200 pesos (less than $11 at the current exchange rate). Again, this was for a comfortable, air conditioned van. Hugo did not speak a lot of English, but I speak Spanish and found him to be very personable. I would definitely use his taxi service again. The bus tours stop right outside although parking is tight. You can walk easily across the street to OXO or even better still, Walmart. It is super safe to walk around. The vans are air-conditioned, they are clean and they are stocked with beer and water when they pick you up at the airport! We were provided with neck gaiters, goggles and helmets. This was a private tour, so just two of us and our guide and a photographer/videographer. (NOTE - make sure you take some photos of your own along the way). So much better than a slow dusty caravan of the group tours. Then, off we went! The first bit of the ride is through city streets to get to the road up the mountain. The cobblestones of PVR gave way to dirt roads and some paved areas at smaller towns along the way. After an hour or so, we stopped at a small bar/restaurant and enjoyed a beverage by a waterfall. We had a great conversation with Agustina about traveling. The road up the mountains has some holes and some puddles so you have to pay attention, and we occasionally encountered some traffic (mostly other ATV tours or buses) and a bull, a donkey, a cat, and several dogs. The speed bumps in the residential areas can sneak up on you, too! The views of the mountains are beautiful and you spend a lot of time running along the Cuale River. We always felt safe and Augustina was a fabulous leader!! When we returned to the office, the videographer had compiled our video and photos to review on the computer. The price was a bit silly $1500 pesos ($100US) for either the photos or the video, $2000 pesos for both. So, we passed on that. We have already recommended the tour to fellow travelers and would even take the same tour again ourselves. Highly recommend!!

It put first timers like us at ease. We first traveled through town and small communities. We made our first stop at a restaurant alongside the water to jump in and have margaritas! After that we went up a mountain and got some great photos opportunities. Finally we stopped at a lunch spot where they offered tequila tasting and lunch. We enjoyed the chipotle chicken.
