If you see a gray and reasonably fit man with University of Iowa or Texas A&M-themed gym clothes, that's me. But you definitely won't see us on a pickleball court, which isn't the type of strength, endurance, and cardio exercise that we need. We really really like this gym and don't mind the relatively long but frequent Genoa commutes. You'll also find me here in its time as a volunteer election worker. And there's so much more going on here.

It is more like a family setting for Bingo and we have helped a lot of people in the community. We have helped Save N Sober every year. Children's cancer every year and our locals in trouble getting things like clothes, firewood for heat, food for Christmas and finding an entire Christmas for a family of 5 and another family of 7. We have helped the school out on other occasions as well with sports. And helped fire victims. We also have put on annual Easter Egg Hunts and Halloween trunk or treats. Everything we've done has been a hit. I just wish the community would get more involved in volunteering.

About 10 minutes later, they didn't really acknowledge us until I walked up to them and excused myself. During the transaction, they continued gossiping about the customer they were talking to prior. Pretty unprofessional...I just imagined them gossiping about us after. Not only did they not greet us, but they also didn't mind talking bad about customers in front of all of us. QUALITY & PRICE: 5/5 It was only $15 for 1 adult & 6 youths under 18. They only charged us for a family, that's why it's so cheap. It wasn't too packed either. 2 pretty decent size pools, not that huge: 1 for adults & a separate one for kids. Lifeguards were there for both. OVERALL: 3/5 Horrible front desk staff, helpful lifeguards. Clean & decent pools. Been here multiple times the past couple years & it's alright. There are other public pools in town that can accommodate bigger families or company trips better. However, this will do!

The Community Life Center (or CLC if you are lucky to be a part of their family) is not just a…read morecommunity center. They are there for families, children, and people of all ages and walks of life. If you have a young child that need before and after school care, they can help. If you have a teenager who needs a place to go and be focused to do distanced learning, they can help. Or even if you have a middle schooler who needs a safe and inclusive environment after school a few days a week, they have that too. Every day is a fun, exciting, loving day for my kids at this center. Not only are they able to be their quirky selves (let's face it, all middles schoolers are) but I know they are safe. I know I can finish my work day and have piece of mind that they were in a good environment while I navigate through these times. If you are looking for a place for your child to go please give them a try. It truly is a community that every child should get to experience. A chance to be a part of a family outside of their own. A place that will give them a sense of belonging when so many things in their life are wonky and inconsistent. Enrolling my children here was the best thing I ever did, for us as an entire family.
