Eggs Benedict with Grilled Halloumi Cheese and home fried
    Dina L.

After starting Boxing Day shopping super early my friend and I were starving when we finished and literally searched for breakfast through the yelp app and it gave us Valley Fields Restaurant as an option. We decided to go since it was so highly rated and on the way home and so glad we did!! The restaurant is basic and a bit of dated decor and furniture but that didn't bother us at all. Usually places like that you can tell they're going to have great food and they did!! I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Halloumi Cheese and it was so delicious from the first bite!!! Great hollandaise sauce and perfectly made eggs as well as the English muffin being fresh and soft and perfectly toasted. I was so full from my eggs that I didn't even finish all my home fries. My fried loved her breakfast too. The sausages were perfectly cooked and had a great flavour to them, the eggs cooked to order perfectly and the pancakes were huge, fluffy and light and had a buttermilk taste to them. Can't wait to go back and try different food!! Perfect little gem that is my new favourite breakfast place.

This place is terrible! I am ashamed to have eaten here. Just finished and I feel sick to my stomach. We were really hungry & it's shocking the krap one puts in their body when they are really hungry. The food was so greasy and sickening. The waitress was nice. But the owner what a D-bag! He knows nothing of customer service. I complained to him about the meal. He turns to our waitress, who's cashing me out and says, "How many people have we served today? " They answer in unison, but; also him more predominately, "300". Then he adds, "and this is the first complaint". Clearly he doesn't take to complaints very often or very well. He didn't offer any reduction in price at all for our meals. I would need to have asked him and given his attitude toward me already, I didn't even bother. I'm surprised his business continues to operate. I will not venture here again and good luck to those who do. The pictures weren't even worth taking but I did anyway.

I have been around this location for over 5 years and never noticed this place... glad I did now! This is a small place... hidden gem for diner food! Great prices and great food. You do not go to this place for the decor, go for the breakfast! Fast service and clean location. I admit I did not read the fine print on my breakfast and had to order a side of potatoes... but all food was great!

What an amazing find in North York. It's certainly not a hidden gem, as it is quite a well known spot, but we found this place by complete accident. For some reason, this usually busy joint was not that busy on the day and we got a table immediately. The servers were nice....can't complain, casual atmosphere, not to roomy layout but not too jam packed either. The good part was certainly the food. I went with the good ol' benny, and it did not disappoint. The Hollandaise sauce on the benny was just about perfect. One of the better tasting hollandaise I've had in Toronto. Two muffins, with three poached eggs on top, generous peameal bacon, and Hollandaise. They didn't drown the dish in the rich sauce, which was nice too. Not to leave behind the hash, which could hold its own against any benny on the other half of the plate. Really, really good hash! The other dish we tried was a super indulgence. Can't remember its name, will update this review with the name after our next visit. The breakfast dish had the same amazing hash, with some delicious sausages tossed along, generous amounts of gravy, and eggs on top cooked as per your liking. Well....lets call it a breakfast poutine. Seriously doubt anyone can finish this super rich dish in one sitting. Delicious?...... definitely, healthy?...... yea right Glad to find this really good breakfast place in North York, I think its right up there with the very best in Toronto.

Amazing customer service! Fantastic food! Quick service! I just literally finished eating here. Couldn't wait to do this review. I had the Harvest Special. 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, home fries, toast and pancakes. Obviously I couldn't finish it all but I tried really hard cause it was so good. The home fries are beyond words. Potatoes and bacon bits done to golden perfection. The sausages were delicious. My sunny side up eggs were perfect Basically, come here for brunch. You will not be disappointed. :) Our waitress was great. She was fast and came and checked up on us on a regular. Refilled my coffee. Brought us water without us asking. This place is a hidden treasure that I am happy my friend found. Coming back here again soon!

It's the kind of space that encourages ordering a half litre of wine (their house versions are only $27) and easing into the evening. A basket of warm, crusty bread starts the meal, with our server snipping dried oregano right into the olive oil - a fragrant, rustic touch. A thick, zesty red pepper hummus also arrives for those who prefer a spread over a dip. Philoxenia offers calamari ($30.95) grilled or fried. The appetizer consists of two sizeable portions of squid with a rather tasteless "house sauce" (a seafood sauce and mayo concoction?) on the side. The calamari itself was fresh, though I wish the thicker end had been cooked slightly longer, since it bordered on gelatinous. Skip the house sauce and pair it with the roasted pepper hummus instead; it works surprisingly well. The lamb chops ($59.95) are the star: four beautifully grilled chops served with a thick smear of tzatziki, soft lemony potatoes, and simply sautéed vegetables (broccoli and green beans). For me, it's these minimally fussed-over dishes that makes for quintessential Greek dining. We added the grilled vegetables ($27.95) on the side, though there really wants a lot of vegetables. Think two thin slices of zucchini and eggplant, a single roasted carrot's worth, and a couple rings of grilled onion. What is there is delicious - drizzled with balsamic and sprinkled with feta - but for a dish centered around vegetables, I expected more. For vegetarians, a mound of rice and lemon potatoes help round it out into a decent main. One thing I genuinely appreciated about Philoxenia is they don't try to rush you. It's a restaurant that lets you linger, offering a leisurely meal in a quiet, spacious dining room with plenty of breathing room between tables... something that's increasingly rare in Toronto's newer, sardine-can-style restaurants. Philoxenia nails that cozy, unhurried Greek dining experience that makes you want to stay a little longer and sip a little more wine.

We started with the Philoxenia special appetizer -- a striking tower of thinly sliced zucchini, eggplant, and cheese, crisped to perfection. Paired with a cheesy dip, it was an irresistible combination of crunch and comfort. For mains, we ordered the beef mousakka and a Greek-style paella. The paella was a standout -- a flavor-packed dish loaded with mussels, shrimp, and calamari in a rich tomato sauce over tender orzo. Dessert came with table-side theatrics. Layers of phyllo for the baklava were heated in honey, then stacked with ice cream -- a creative and indulgent finale that built anticipation as we watched. Service was attentive without ever feeling overbearing. We felt genuinely well cared for throughout the evening. On our way out, we noticed a gorgeous garden-style patio at the entrance. Next time, we'll be requesting a table there for sure.

The ordering process was not user friendly. Advertised deals were not charged as promoted until after the order was actually placed. The categories of food were itemized all over the place, so you weren't sure you were getting what you wanted as if it were a small combo, a larger dinner, or a la carte. The food itself was worth nowhere near the prices charged. For $20.89 before tip and taxes, I got a regular 355 mL can of domestic pop, a lunch sized pita that was completely burnt, and a side of frozen fries. Everyone's chicken was dry as a bone, and even the rice was as dessicated as cardboard. The only decent items were the Greek salad, and the pork which was able to withstand its level of char because it's not chicken. They didn't deliver one of the said cans of pop, which was charged and paid for at $3 for a la carte because it wasn't ordered as part of a preset combo. Add to the order the suggested 20% tip pushing $50, and the total customer experience result is that we'll never order from there again, or bother trying them as walk ins Never again.
