Last November I had knee replacement surgery and developed restless leg syndrome. It affected my life so much, I had to cancel a trip to Italy and any long distance traveling (including seeing my grandchildren in California). I decided to just do it, go see Dr Nixdorf. Wow!!! My first appointment was 1-1/2 HOURS! When have you EVER had that much time with a doctor? She looked over my paperwork, and said the restless leg will be a piece of cake, but the jaw swelling, THAT intrigued her. I've been dealing with the jaw swelling for over 15 years and have seen over seven doctors. The last doctor told me it was allergies and it happens a lot (I do not know anyone who has had the same symptoms) and told me I could take up to TEN allergy medications a day. What? So going to see Dr Nixdorf, I have not only resolved the issue of the restless leg syndrome but I now have a diagnosis on WHY my jaw swells! AMAZING doctor. Very intuitive, wonderful atmosphere, AWESOME staff, I can't say enough. If you're looking for a doctor who will LISTEN to you, Corvallis Natural Medicine is the place. Check out her website! I am SO happy I found Dr Nixdorf!!!!

This is specifically about the part of Samaritan Health Services that provides cpap equipment. Was…read moreany of my experience good? I suppose one or two things - a couple of the techs were nice and helpful- but no one could return a phone call. I've had a cpap machine for 14 years with a different company, which I only left because my insurance made me. I had zero problems in that 14 year period, and I had two machines that lasted 7 years each - and the water reservoirs had no problems. This water reservoir leaked after a couple of months. I left several messages with a receptionist who said someone would call me back. Didn't happen. I finally called on a weekend and the weekend guy got me to someone who got me a replacement. Then the machine itself started emitting a high pitched whine - constantly. These machines cost around $1400 to $1500 each and at that price ought to work without trouble. They don't. That machine was replaced, and I only had to make 3 phone calls before someone called me back. It came with a new reservoir, which after a few months began to leak - exactly like the first one. Again I phoned repeatedly, without a call back, and finally went to the office with my water reservoir in my arms, and was told by the receptionist that "the supervisor is in a meeting" and all the "respiratory techs were also in a meeting." Imagine my surprise to see one of the techs come out to speak with a patient, and a woman pass through the reception area who I later learned was the supervisor. I phoned the main Samaritan office and complained. Then I got a phone call from the cpap supervisor, telling me to come pick up a new reservoir. I was asked to speak with a tech, who told me that this was all my fault, including when the machine was squealing. I think after 14 years, and no malfunctions, I know better. The word "supercilious" is a 5 syllable way of saying "snotty." If you can get your insurance company to let you - do not use this service. Some insurance companies will give you an exception and let you use another company - do it - it will be a much better experience. They didn't have their act together a year ago - they don't have their act together now. Some customer service training for the supervisor and staff (every receptionist I dealt with was pleasant and tried to be helpful it's the tech staff and supervisor who need some work) might help - returning phone calls would be a good start. Attitude and help might be another place to work on.

Because of the sliding scale payment system($15-30) you can afford to have multiple treatments, as is usually necessary with acupuncture. Bashful beware.... it is a community clinic and you are treated in the same room as other patients! However; you are only treated on your arms, legs and head; so there is no body exposure which also makes the needling quite quick. It's a quiet relaxing atmosphere with several recliners, with blankets & pillows available, to relax in during your treatments, there is eucalyptus in the air and soothing background music/sounds. This soothing atmosphere(and the soothing nature of acupuncture) also makes most being treated fall asleep:) and you can rest as long as you need. I usually bring my own blanket and pillow, and ear plugs are advised if you are sensitive to noise/snoring around you during sleep/relaxation periods. If you have a specific time you need to be done just make a mention before your left to rest and you will be woken in time... so considerate! All around a great place if you are already an acupuncture fan, and a great resource if your just curious about the benefits! Highly recommend checking it out!!

I am good at reading people and I knew I could trust him - he gave me a very positive vibe. I knew he was practicing acupuncture in Corvallis but it wasn't until this week that I had the chance to stay in Corvallis and try out a treatment with him. I have had lot of experience with acupuncture. I used to get weekly sessions for years a few years back until my major symptoms and complaints went away. In getting a session with Dean, I was hoping to get a tuning for an upcoming mountaineering expedition in Alaska. I had recently completed a technical alpine ascent of Shasta and some parts of my body were cranky - lower back, knee, etc. I figured that acupuncture would help me relieve some of the muscle tension and joint stress that I was holding after the ascent. My session with Dean exceeded my expectations. His space is comfortable and inviting. His demeanor is soft, gentle and very friendly. And his technique is amazing. First of all, he was able to very quickly identify the precise spots that needed attention. Second, he uses a mild electrical current with the needles - something that I had never experienced before but was quite relaxing and effective. I liken it to a "hot tub" for your achy parts. On top of it, Dean did some bone and musculoskeletal adjustments that were quite strong and left my whole spine feeling refreshed and re-energized. It felt like a mix of chiropractic and Thai massage adjustments, but only better. In addition, Dean was able to identify that my adrenal glands were fatigued, which helped explain some of the things I had been experiencing lately. He helped me choose an adrenal support supplement which I've started taking now to help support my energy levels. As a bonus, Dean also taught me some useful tapping techniques that I could use to relax and sleep while experiencing anxiety over impending climbs or other stresses in my life. Corvallis people are so lucky to have Dean in their community - I can only hope to see him in the instances when I visit this town and will now make sure I have a treatment with him whenever his schedule allows.

I scheduled an appointment online with Blue Sky a few days prior to coming in. My appointment was for 1 pm, I arrived 5 mins before this and waited in the lobby. When someone came to the desk they seemed surprised I was there and asked if I had an appointment which I told them I did. They motioned for me to sign in on a tablet that had very little paperwork and pre - information spots available. Only thing I could do was pick areas to focus on and sign. Did not include anywhere for medical concerns or areas to avoid. The woman at the front desk was rushing me through this process as well. I was then told it would be a 20 min wait while leading me to the room. I agreed that was okay. She instructed me to go ahead and take off my clothes and wait on the massage table then left. I waited there on the table for 45 mins listening to very loud music that personally was not my taste and was not peaceful. After 45 mins someone finally came in and said sorry for the wait and put heated bags on my upper back and lower back and said it would be another 5 mins. 15 mins later (1 hr from my scheduled appointment time) the massage therapist came in - I do not know her name either. She asked me how long I wanted the massage and then as soon as she got started asked how it was but then no further interactions. The music during the massage was a little more soothing except for the fact that it kept skipping or getting turned on and off randomly. The massage itself was relaxing but it did feel very generic and was not tailored to any of my specific needs. When I was told it was done I noticed that my time was cut short by 10 mins. I was left alone to get changed and I went up front to pay. I was offered water when leaving which I appreciated. No offer was made to try and mitigate the long wait time and I paid full price for everything. I even tipped when paying for the massage and left cash tip for the massage therapist because I believe in doing so for any service work. It just would have been higher had I had an overall good experience which I unfortunately did not.
