Finally I got an appointment today (9/15) with THE contractor/representative (name left out for now) to meet and discuss, however he claimed that nothing was wrong. He foot-pressed on the pop-out-plunk and called it good. Here are a few pictures to show the condition after they "finished" the project. No transition pieces, gaps everywhere, carpet threads on trim, dirt and dust everywhere, popped-out plunks, etc...which left me in tears when I stepped in the first time after the project. Help

Finally I got him to just put in the body of an email - it arrived a week later, under a generic "customer support" aol (yes, aol) address, not even under his supposed company name - was very vague and about 400 square feet less than the project he came out and measured is. Then he wants a 50% depost on a job he is literally putting out money for nails on. Told him law is 10% or $1000, whichever is less. The number he gave for the job was just under three grand, again - not sure it was for the WHOLE job, as the square footage he listed was off by about 400, and did not delineate by rooms -but when i told him law is 10% and I'm not giving him 50% down (in cash no less) he got real ugly. Look, the guy is 80 years old, has cancer, just got out of the hospital, and everytime I spoke with him and asked how he was doing his answer was "not good" - so no, you absolutely are not getting $1500 for a job to start in five weeks . . . he stated he doesn't do this full time anymore, only occasionally - so why the five week lead? Between Lumber Liquidaters (same company they just chaged the name to throw folks off) and this guy - I'm starting to see a pattern regarding hardwood floor installers here. Luckily I dodged a big, expensive bullet, with minimal grief. This time.

In both cases Chad Donnay was extremely helpful and got the problems resolved in a very timely manner. Neither I nor my wife are very good at making many decisions all at once (which there are when building a new home) but the process was quite painless with the help of everyone at Donnay Homes. Overall we're very pleased with our home both inside and out, it's been a great first home and we would likely have them build us another if we move.

We moved in March 2021 and our new kitchen project was fraught with problems with the countertop fabricator, APL. Since ProSource subcontracts with APL, we expected ProSource to advocate on our behalf. Quite the opposite. In fact, we were told to work with APL directly. When APL basically ignored us, we pressured ProSource to intervene. They treated us like WE were the problem, even though APL admitted they made mistakes with our countertops. After six weeks this issue is finally resolved-but we have not had a follow up call from ProSource to see if we are satisfied with the installation -and no apology. Buyers beware!

This leaked behind our fridge and into our wood floors for weeks before the water level was high enough to puddle. We had a specific wood type that we were hoping to replicate. Thankfully Unique Wood Floors carried that same wood type. After my initial call, their project manager Jim contacted us to schedule a visit. We had our estimate less than a day after our visit. We stopped by their showroom in St. Paul and spoke with Michael who helped us view the flooring we were interested in. We placed our order for our flooring. Within a few weeks we were contacted for our installation. Our installer was named Al. More like super Al! Al tore out our old flooring which looked to be a very tough job. He then installed our new floor. As Al was wrapping up, first he swept the floor, then he was back down on his hand and knees with a towel wiping our floor clean. Wow. Talk about commitment. We were also impressed that Jim stopped out to check on the progress, then again after the install was completed to make sure everything looked good. Not only did it look good, we felt it looked great! I have to admit, I am very particular about how things look and our floor really looks great. Thank you to the team at Unique Wood Floors who made this whole process very impressive.
