When you need lighting (as a homeowner) I don't think I have ever been to a better location than Valley lighting. My wife got a recommendation to VL from a coworker. Now I recommend VL to all of you. We have been shopping for lighting as we update the outside of our 1970's CT colonial and our kitchen. Countless websites with thousands of pictures led to some frustration and we decided to go visit some lighting stores. Some stores may be highly recommended but are really for designers, they are by appointment only, have a very limited supply for a showroom, but offer a really big screen so you can browse their website (ugh!) Others have a bigger supply in the showroom and have nice people who understand lighting. Then there is Valley Lighting! They had a huge selection to look at (and touch) a friendly staff who really knew their inventory, availability and options and were also full of ideas that made us open up the options we were considering. We worked with Zac and he was really great as we waffled on every aspect from design, color, and size. We settled on a design for the outdoor lights in about 20 minutes, after searching for the last several weeks. We purchased 2 Large, 2 Medium, and 2 Small lights to mount on the exterior as well as 3 post lights for the driveway. They also had a huge selection of lightbulbs and guided us through witch wattage and color would work best for our application. This seems elementary that a lighting store would do this, but I haven't seen it elsewhere. We were able to bring home two lights which I mounted (pictured) and the rest were ordered and we expect them in 2 weeks. Now that we accomplished this project it is time to finalize the kitchen lights and for that we will certainly return to VL. read more

We had a good experience here yesterday. They have a nice selection of lighting but it's not too overwhelming. We had no problem getting help and had most of our questions answered quickly. It's more expensive than the box box home improvement places but it's higher quality lighting so you get what you pay for. There are surprisingly few larger lighting places around here and this one is worth a look. read more

We went there to purchase 4 coach lights and a lamp post light. We found exactly what we were looking for when we visited their showroom. Nice showroom, but as big as it was, I couldn't get a replacement shade for the lamp I had. They couldn't even order it online for me. I wasn't too happy about that. Also, the lampshades that were available, were expensive. I was disappointed, to say the least. Because the shades were like $70, I didn't even venture any further through the store. The high prices turned my feet off. I bought a shade cleaning sponge, and I called it a day. The sponge did the job for $6. read more

A neighbor just remodeled her entire house and recommended this place. I was surprised after reading the reviews online but went anyways. I walked right up to the counter and asked for help. The woman seemed like we were bothering her but was almost amusing herself by taking time out from her very busy day of sitting, to help us. She knew nothing about style or even about electricity which you would think any sales person would pick up on the job after a few weeks. She showed us the only two fixtures in the store that fit what we were looking for and I had to say can't you order something else? She was like, oh, I guess I'll go get a catalogue. So we waited and waited. I gave her the benefit of the doubt but my mom said, "she forgot about us." As we passed her in her comfy chair behind the counter, planning to just say thanks, bye, she doesn't even meet us around the counter but holds up the page in the catalogue. It was like we were annoying her by asking her to show us things we could buy from her! She knew absolutely nothing about lighting or decorating, and no I wasn't pestering her with questions because it was so obvious from the beginning, and I will never go back there again or recommend it. Well, two stars because they had beautiful, unusual lights that weren't very expensive so I would actually recommend them if you're desperate but you have to know exactly what you want. read more

Awful service. I browsed around the store three times thinking an associate would eventually come up to me asking if I needed help. No one did. Three ladies "working" were chit chatting at the front desk. And watched me as I exited the store?? Came here on my lunch hour intending to purchase decor for my living room. They have a good selection of lighting, but are not very helpful when you have an issue with something purchased there. Bought under cabinet lighting for our kitchen. As the electrician was installing, we had an issue and after leaving numerous phone messages, the sales person never returned our call. Will not purchase from them again. read more
