Who actually likes going to the doctor's? I can't say I'm a fan of going but I can say that I am incredibly grateful for where I go. Valley Medical Group has some pretty amazing people who work there, from the people at the front desk, to the nurses, to the billing staff to the docs. I probably see the best person in the entire practice, Rachael Katz, hands down! She is knowledgeable, attentive, kind, thorough, on time, a great listener and easy to talk to. On a whole, the office is well run, the staff interact well with each other and are supportive of one another. Occasionally there are some glitches but problems are quickly addressed and not typically repeated. There is one person there that I think would be a better shoe salesman than a medical provider but the staff has honored my request to never schedule me with him again. I have dealt with a myriad of health issues...some serious...over the last 2 years. M PC has been the best!!! I could not ask for anyone better! Have never waited longer than 10 mins. in waiting room and I usually get an appt within a few days. In the midst of all this, I lost my husband of 20 years. Again, my PC was very supportive...I even received a sympathy card from them. I cannot recommend this group highly enough. I do not understand the negative reviews!!!! read more

I have been a patient at Valley Medical Group for more than 20 years and have always been happy. I have seen the negative reviews particularly about appointment cancellations and staff turnover. I am a physician so I have first hand knowledge about the difficulty of recruiting and retaining staff so I recognize VMG are doing the best they can. Being a patient AND being a health care worker in 2025 is terrible and only getting worse. Regardless, I have always received great care at VMG. read more

Staff is friendly but wildly incompetent. No idea what's going on here. The place has lots of issues. Too many to list exhaustively but several are: poor record keeping, bedside manner and professional expertise. That is about as polite I can make this review. Avoid them. As in, just go to Springfield or MGH Boston. Something is very wrong with this practice. read more

I have been very satisfied with VMG Greenfield. I rarely have any wait time - not with doctor, not with check-in, not with lab. They are pretty efficient. The turn-over in staff is unfortunate, but I do think this is happening everywhere, not just at VMG. There just aren't enough good people wanting to do this kind of work. Too bad. The portal is excellent, and I almost always get an answer to my questions same day, often within just a few hours. The entire facility is so clean - the housekeeping staff is exceptional! read more

I will never, ever recommend Valley Medical Group as a primary doctors office for anyone. Who knew record keeping and general health service would be such a problem, and having no consistant primary care doctor over the years due to them constantly changing, would be so detrimental to my health. I did a records inquiry, because I'm trying to start up appointments once again after many cancelations (on their part not mine), and discovered they neglected to put, or removed--- a number of my long term always talked about and frequently discussed/documented medical issues during visits--- in my medical records. Some was definatly removed, because I did have notations and records listed of various conditionz that Id even been trying to scheduale appointments to find answers to, suddenly just--- gone. Not there. They did not have my PTSD listed, diagnosed back in 2014, I saw a therapist recommended through them for years!! nor my prominent female medical history issues on both family sides that I've adamantly reminded them of for many years now. No notations on my concerns for the female cancers that run rampant in my family. They didn't have record of my chronic debilitating migrains I've lived with for the last 20+ years of my life. Nor all the steps taken prior for years in trying to narrow down the cause or causes. They didn't have any notes on my vision blackouts, something I've been dealing with since I was 12 years old. Linked to the migraines? No idea. Undiagnosed. Unknown, and the reason I've never gotten my license. (Imagine being unable to drive your whole life because the thought of driving a multi-ton vehicle into another person from a 3 to 10 second blackout is terrifying.) They have no notations in my medical records of my strange painful skin flares, on the soft parts of my skin, upper body. The ones that can make the soft tender skin of my arms undersides, my upper, middle and lower back, and sides of my waist and stomach feel like a hot frying pan is being held to them with no visual marks at all. Just pain. They had no medical records of a number of long term mystery as well as known conditions. Ones I'd been on them about for years, YEARS to diagnose and find out more about. No medical records at all of things I'd discussed and watched my doctors write down. For the last 12 years.... And this is just scratching the surface. There is more missing. I am officially invisible. All the questions asked. All the appointments made. All with doctors who stayed on for maybe one year if that, before "retireing" or "working elsewhere", to leave me to have to explain myself all over again. I have a surgery I need done, this year, no questions asked, no pauses. It is a vital surgery. That surgery needs pausing now because the competence of the doctors offices I've visited for the last 12+ years of my life is in serious question and I can't possibly trust they would do their jobs right. Not when I've massive gaps missing in my medical records that should be filled with important information. And certainly not when their doctors have brushed off my problems for years. Prime example? The sharp stabbing pains located over various reproductive organs I've been having for over 10 years. Even after telling them again, and again, and again of the female cancers that run very strongly in my family, they ignored me. Until I DEMANDED an ultra sound because I've known something was wrong. Multiple cysts on my ovaries. Painful. A uterus filled with growths, which, could be fibrous, or, they may not be. No way to tell until they are out and tested. Ignored me. For. Years. Literally had me questioning my own intuition and my own worries about my body. And when I called to set up a pap and ask for advice they have for a trauma survivor on keeping calm during the appointment, the male nurse told me to take 2 of a medication prescribed by my dermatologist for a previous issue because it would make me tired. You don't tell a trauma survivor to drug herself into an incoherent stupor for a pelvic exam. How dare you! I was in pain and being told even by my doctor's that I must be imagining things. Couldn't find a different practice to switch to that would take my insurance, nore close enough. So I have been stuck with non compassionate, unproductive and entirely irresponsible doctors for years. I saw Dr. Dinnal upstairs for a debilitating foot issue 4 times, and when the infection and pain continued to get worse and I went for a second opinion elsewhere, the new podiatrists office called to have notes transferred. Valley Medical Podietry denied having ever seen me. No notes, no intake papers. Nothing. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICAL GROUP! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! Do me a favor... DON'T go to this Drs office.. it might just save your life.. literally. The providers here are literally bottom of the barrel in intelligence and skill. Last in the class, I'd say. They are great gaslighters though, if you fall for that ish, watch out. They treat everyone with chronic pain disorders and illnesses like they're junkies looking for a fix. They disregard decades of medical records from other offices, well documented diseases and disorders and just disregard your medical needs or basic well being. They rotate through staff so quickly, I've had 6 different "providers" in just as many years. I just spent the last 2 months bed-bound with a back injury & muscle spasms in my back...they refused to prescribe any pain meds, although I have a 40 year history of orthopedic and nerve disorders and diseases that they refused to recognize. Just absolutely refuse. They are inhumane, biased & bigoted fraudsters who "play Dr." with the skills of a 5 year old. I had to tell my "provider" which dose I should get to lower my thyroid med without making me skip days. Absolutely ridiculous! Her initials are CC... so avoid her ineptness at all costs! Oh also, instead of prescribing me pain meds for my deformed spine they decided to drug test me... jokes on them because it's NEGATIVE! Not everyone who has chronic pain disorders is an addict. Im so done suffering in silence. Also, had a questionable area on a mammogram that was difficult to see through dense tissue... I've always had an ultrasound to follow up, but My PCP refused. I have strong family history of an aggressive type of breast cancer. Already contacted another family practice... do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

I have reported this clinic to the dept of health. I waited 8 MONTHS for my child to see the doctor. 8 MONTHS WAS THE FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT! No one should have to wait 8 months for basic healthcare. Because it took sooooo long, the physician rescheduled because of maternity leave. We showed up at the new appt time that they created and waited in line. The woman before us was taking almost 10 mins to complete her transaction with reception. When we stepped up to the window we were told we were TOO LATE!!! We were turned away. WTF?! This behavior is beyond unacceptable. Shame on you Valley Medical. read more

I live every single day of my life in severe excruciating pain that never lets up !! What this practice does is cruel and inhumane !!! They don't care ! They are not suffering just filling their pockets with money I am not seeking pain medication but one benzodiazapine a day which is the ONLY relief I have had from this pain in many yrs. They want to put me on antidepressants and antipsychotics. I believe I am dealing with dystonia and those meds are the worst they could give me for this ! Pray God no e of them are ever forced into a life of suffering and integrable pain. They are inhumane and cruel !!! read more

This Valley Medical location is where I have my primary care provider as well as my newly found eye care doctor. The reason why I have my providers through this location is because it is conveniently located in Greenfield. That being said every time I come here I have issues with my appointments. Earlier in the year I scheduled a DOT physical, just to show up and find out that they hadn't documented that. For that reason I had to come back a second time because they scheduled me incorrectly and they didn't allow enough time for me to be able to complete that exam. Yesterday I was scheduled for a routine eye exam as well as a contact fitting. When I showed up they told me that I was missing some papers I should have brought. Not once did they tell me what I needed to bring to my appointment and when I asked them to complete the contact fitting they told me multiple times just to bring in my old documents so that I could save money. At that point I didn't care about saving money I just wanted to be able to buy some contacts, but they still wouldn't do it. In the end, usually the providers here are great but the communication between the clinical team and the scheduling staff is poor. I hope that in the future this becomes a little bit more fluid since I will continue to come here because of the convenience. read more

I saw Dr. Dinnal in Podiatry in April. I was given a surgery date for my extremely painful foot for July 19. On May 17 I was called to notify that my appointment for surgery was canceled. Without my permission without asking me if I had in fact gotten a ride, which I did, they just canceled my appointment. I am in a lot of pain every day. It's getting to the point where I can't wear shoes anymore and I work on my feet and I need surgery and they just canceled me without my permission. This is patient abuse as far as I'm concerned with absolutely no regard for me being in tremendous amount of pain all the time. don't go there you will be treated unfairly you will be treated like it's just a number. They really don't care. This is not patient care. This is an industry and it is broken and Valley medical group is a prime example of just how broken their system is. I don't even want to give them one star. The place is a black hole, not a star. read more

They should pay me for the time I've missed from work. Their wait times are absurd. If you're not there 15 minuets prior to your appointment they cancel on you but expect everyone to wait at least a half hour. One time we waited an hour in the lobby to be told it was going to be another hour. My spouse had an issue that landed him in the ER not too long ago with severe and passing pain that comes and goes. They followed the ER's drs instructions with an ultrasound but stopped there. The issue has been happening for years yet they've done nothing. Another time they lined him up with a shot that he needed to grab from their in-house pharmacy but failed to communicate that they were out. So that was a full hour and 15 minuets of driving plus another trip to the gas station. This place is very disorganized and I will never see one of their doctors as how could I trust them given these facts. I don't like giving bad reviews but clearly these don't seem like issues to them as they have gone on for over a year. These are just the top issues recently. Do yourself a favor as well, don't waist your time/money/ or patience with them. There are actually professionals out there who do their jobs. read more

Excellent care. First class staff from those at the front desk, to the nurses, to the PCP's. Mr PCP might have saved my life by finding a serious condition I did not know I had. The follow-up care is outstanding as well. And when I have my wellness visits my PCP is always prepared, has read my medical record, and has suggestions as to how to better manage my healthcare. After my physical I was told my heart was not beating right and scheduled an appointment to get a heart monitor. When I arrived for my appointment to nurses greeted me with the monitor instructions in hand looking puzzled and the first thing they said " you don't really need this thing do you?" Uhhm yeah apparently? The thing looked straight out of the 60's and did nothing to help. This is just one of many issues I've had here and every other doctor in the valley. This is by far the worst medical practice I have ever worked with. While the doctors themselves are good (well...few doctors actually, most of the medical staff are Nurse Practitioners), the practice themselves are horrible. Receptionists are rude and unhelpful, and policies are arbitrary and inflexible. Requiring 48-hours notice on prescription refills, when all they have to do is press a button on a computer to send a refill, is genuinely unhelpful and intentionally cruel to patients. There is no way of escalating to leadership when you have an issue with staff, and in my experience they very often take the attitude that if you have a complaint or concern, they'll just drop you as a patient rather than actually addressing your complaint. Unfortunately they are practically a monopoly in the area as they have driven most of the other primary care practices out of the region. The staff turnover is huge because they don't treat their doctors anymore better than they treat their patients (I'm on my fourth doctor in seven years). Just an awful practice. read more

Every time I go, there is an hour wait to see the doctor and they are clearly disorganized, but that isn't what finally made me leave the practice. Last time I was in with my child, they insisted that we were due for our last round of vaccines. I was certain we had already received them and asked them to please double check the chart. They absolutely assured me that those shots were due. We bring in our child for the vaccine and then find out two days later through our school, that I was correct. We had already received them. Valley Medical simply did not look through our charts at all. On top of it, they told my six year old after they gave the vx, that we wouldn't need anymore shots until twelve! So now my kid thinks they won't need another shot until that age, which is false. They have many more issues over there, but not looking through the charts properly (I asked on three separate occasions, I was pretty sure I was recalling correctly but instead of trusting memory, I TRUSTED THEM ) seems pretty egregious for a doctors office. This isn't the first time they've neglected to look through my families' charts either. It was just the first time it wasn't caught, despite repeated requests from me asking for the information they were supposedly looking through. All the other hang ups I've had with them until this point, didn't even warrant the time to post about, since I think those problems will be found in offices most anywhere. This however, combined with similar experiences other patients have mentioned, crosses the line. I wish anyone receiving medical treatments and advice from an establishment that doesn't understand how to access accurate patient information, or look thoroughly through a chart, prior to providing care, the best of luck. read more

If you love being told that your symptoms are "probably psychosomatic" (when you have no history of mental disorder), asked repeatedly if you have a drug problem (when you have no record or history of drug abuse), and treated like nuisance and a number at an office that feels more like a health care factory with staff that act as though they couldn't care less about you, than definitely go to Valley Medical Center. I went there for an intake appointment and becuase I have ongoing auto-immune disorders. From the minute I walked in I was treated like I was drug seeking and making my symptoms up. I run a small business and I've missed about half my days for the last six weeks. I needed real health care. I'm never going back. In fact, I'm changing my health insurance to a less affordable plan so that I can go to a better PCP. What a terrible office! read more

I am a patient at Valley Medical in Greenfield, and I think they're great. I have generally had good experiences with doctors, nurses and support staff, am always given an appointment in a reasonable time frame and find that communication is very good by phone and email. They have recently started a "patient portal" system which allows patients to see summaries of their health and appointments, make appointments, renew prescriptions, and send messages to doctors. It's wonderful for folks like me who are online a lot and may find it easier to take care of some of this business at night. read more

In fact, if you call with a request or question and hear that "Someone will call you back today", if it's anything serious at that point you should go to the local clinic or hospital emergency room. I've been going to Valley Medical for years and have run into several issues with them that I have brushed off. I understand it's a very large place and with that come longer wait times and some frustrations. However, today I experienced something which is making me seriously considering switching doctors. I called up this morning to get an urget prescription for a common medical problem. They know me, as I said I've been there for years, so I didn't think this would be an issue. The receptionist was relatively pleasant and she told me someone would get back to me. Fine. I receive a voicemail on my cell phone while I'm at work. I call back on my lunch break, at which time I am told *everyone's* on break, and that I would be called back again. Ooookay. I give them the direct line to my work phone. I wait two hours. Nothing. Call back. A very confused-sounding man asks me about my symptoms. I tell him and he says he'll pass the message along. Um, I thought the message was passed along when I called with my issue in the first place but okey-dokey then. I wait another hour. Nothing. Finally I call back. I'm told "Emily" (not my doctor, never heard of her) has been busy with patients all day so she hasn't gotten to me yet. Ok, I didn't realize not physically being in the office made me not a patient. But fine, I'll wait for "Emily". I once again give them the direct line to my work number. At this point it is 5 o'clock. Closing in on 5:30, frankly, I'm pissed. I check my cell phone just for giggles and what do you know? I have a message (that I can't check because, again, I'm at work) from Valley Medical, after I've told them twice not to call my cell. Whatever. I call the office from my work phone. But oops! Apparently their phones close at 5:30. It is 5:28 and they're already down. A recording tells me I can stay on the line if I have an urgent need so I do. I get a busy signal. I call again. Go through the whole menu again. Get a busy signal. Call AGAIN. This time it seems I may actually get through but I sit and listen to hold music for seven minutes before I have to hang up, because work. I am livid. Luckily the story has a happy ending, which is that they did actually call my Rx in, though I had absolutely no way of knowing that until I got out at 6:30 and was able to check my voicemail on my cell. So I sat for an hour thinking I would be going the weekend without the meds. This is completely unacceptable, especially combined with other things I have experienced there, like extremely long waits for appointments, trouble getting responses with their online messaging service and snarky receptionists (some are lovely- unfortunately not enough of them). If you MUST go to Valley Medical, see Dr. Ruth Potee. She's a fantastic doctor and I'm disappointed I may have to stop seeing her. Staff discusses private patient issues loudly in the hallway. Disorganized offices, messy paperwork falling off shelves and lazy careless staff who puts off getting work done. The company rid of a large amount of staff nearly a year ago due to budget cuts and they still haven't caught up with the leftover workload. Awful, awful careless, rude, snobby, boring staff who talk about patient's private issues and start drama because theyre bored and dont want to do their work!!! read more

My experience with the Valley Medical Group was actually at their Amherst location, but since the doctors flit from one location to the other, I don't see why I can't too. I hadn't gone to the doctor for a really long time, and finally decided to get a physical, like a grown up. So I called around, and finally Valley Medical said yes, sure, come on in for a physical in two months. So I did. But it wasn't a physical! It was simply a 'hello' session, which would have been fine if someone had told me that was the case. So I scheduled another appointment for a Monday morning, this time for an actual physical. My doctor, Patricia Keough, had asked that I fast from midnight on so that they could do some routine bloodwork. So I do, and it sucks, and driving in the morning without the benefit of coffee seems like punishment. And the physical is going fine, we chat about body things, and I bring up the intense hand/wrist pain I had been noticing, and suggest that perhaps it's carpal tunnel. No tests, yup, probably is, says Dr. Keough and she offers to give me a wrist guard to wear at night. At no point is money, or insurance, or the fact that I WILL BE CHARGED OVER $100 FOR THIS GODDAMN THING brought up, and I think 'Sweet, the American Medical System isn't SO bad!' And then Dr. Keough goes to leave. I ask about my blood work, the blood work I didn't eat breakfast for. 'Oh. You probably don't need it, and your insurance probably won't cover it anyways, so let's not bother. OK?' she says. Um, OK. Awesome. So glad I DIDN'T EAT BREAKFAST FOR NOTHING. So she leaves and this terrifically pompous little nurse comes in to fit me for this power glove, the one that I think is going to be free. And when I actually see this beige monstrosity, I think 'Yes, of course it's free. Children in China made this for five cents. God what a piece of crap.' So I go home, and use this wrist guard every night for three nights, like a good patient, and I do indeed notice a dramatic difference in my hand. And then the seams all fall apart and the goddamn thing is useless, at which point I go to CVS and buy a new one for $23. It's sleek and black, a vast improvement over the "free" one from DR. PATRICIA KEOUGH, and I think 'Well, that's a good idea, letting a patient try out a piece of crap item to see if it works. Thank god I know about this wonderful invention!' And I use this wrist guard every single day at work, and almost every single night while I sleep, and it's doing fine. $23. Three weeks ago, waaaaay after my appointment, I get a bill in the mail from VALLEY MEDICAL. My insurance has generously offered to pay $30 out of the $120 "worth" of this wrist guard, leaving me with a bill for the rest. Um. I called Valley Medical's billing department and spoke to the lovely Ann, who promised to get back to me. She hadn't a week later, so I called again. Nope, no news. Finally this week, I called and a very nice man informed me that I had signed a waiver saying that my insurance might not cover the full cost of this wristguard, the wristguard that no one ever told me would cost money and that I WOULDN'T HAVE TAKEN IF I HAD KNOWN THE RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR IT. I was fully aware of the price point of this item, $20-$30, and I'm appalled at the inflated price charged by VALLEY MEDICAL, and countless other doctor's offices for wrist guards. I do not plan to return here, and advise you to stay away if you don't want to get ripped off. read more

I have been going to Valley Medical Group in Greenfield, Ma for about 9 years now and I have NEVER EVER had any problems! I LOVE the staff, ALL of them, from the front desk secretaries to the nurses, Drs and the lab techs! The secretaries are AMAZING however! They ALWAYS make the place look AMAZING, especially for a holiday! For Halloween they decorate the place and dress up but they make a theme with it. I know that's not "sickness" related but when you're not feeling well and you walk through those doors you automatically feel calm. Plus they have everything in one building. They have a pharmacy, lab and the Dr offices downstairs and upstairs is the eye Dr (who is awesome) and physical therapy (who are also awesome) and they also have a dietician and they hold meetings for diabetics that need help with knowing the right foods to eat and you meet with other people who also have diabetes. I just cannot say enough great things about this place!! 10 out of 10 would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

I HATE going to the doctors, but Valley Medical in Greenfield has been nothing but a lifesaver for me. Yeah, there are sometimes wait times, but my PA (Martha Mohr...go see her!!!!) is incredibly thorough and spends quality time with each patient as opposed to rushing through, particularly if there's a serious issue going on. I received some devastating news from an orthopedist in town, and Martha was able to spend time, calming me down, and reviewing objective FACTS, which this orthopedist did not do at all. The prognosis looks much better actually and I can breathe again. Martha said I can come see her whenever I need to because I have been so overwhelmed and need a strong advocate. I saw one of VMG's other providers before she left and I had a positive experience with her too. I'm also glad that VMG offers convenient pre and post work hours. I work 30 minutes away so those extra times help me minimize taking time off work. read more

I've seen two Drs there and did not like either. Worst was Dr. Paul Carlan. He was so insulting to me and told me all my pain is in my head. He disregarded test results from another Dr. proving it was not in my head. But he would not run tests of his own to disprove the other Dr. He said I was Depressed. He wouldn't hear anything I was saying he had me pigeon holed from the start. Then he refused to treat me for the depression. So tell me... WHAT IS MY INSURANCE PAYING YOU FOR??????? read more
