Our kids have been coming here for a year now. We love it, very easy to schedule. Both kids see Dr DeVries. He's been great with the kids, easy to ask questions to, very accommodating, and remembers a surprising amount about our family from appt to appt. We have been using the office for a about five years and have had no complaints. It was an inconvenience when the offices were consolidated into the Verona office for a time, but nothing more than that. The doctors have been very friendly and knowledgeable every time we have been in for an appointment with each of our children. We would easily recommend the Waynesboro office. Thank you! read more

I have never in my life been more disappointed in a doctor's office than I am today with Valley Pediatric Group. They turned my daughter away from my 2 month old grandson's appointment because they could not verify his Medicaid and she doesn't have the $170.00 to pay upfront. They made her wait, then stand in a waiting room with no seating holding a screaming baby! They did NOT ONCE call her in advance and tell her of this or anything! Due to Covid the DSS has informed us that things are taking longer than normal to process and get mailed and that is why she did not have his insurance card. I am appalled. This is sick. What a bunch of pathetic SOB's. read more

Terrible establishment who is about making money and not the health of your child. Dr. Fern said it was fine for my baby to take medicine that ultimately was detrimental to her health yet he took no responsibility. When I said I would no longer be using their "services," the front desk didn't care a bit. Avoid this place and its carelessness, please! I really feel like it failed me and my child. They kicked us out, for lack of a better term, over $78 AFTER telling us not even 5 days prior that we didn't owe anything. We had the money immediately on hand, but they wouldn't have any part of it. Shame, because overall, we were otherwise mostly pleased with the service. We have used valley peds for 8 years and LOVE them! They are great to see you or fit you in for sicknesses or emergencies and are very knowledgeable! We normally see Dr. Devries whom has been great with my sons Cystic Fibrosis, however we have seen all the providers and love all of them with the exception of Dr. O who didnt listen to our concerns and we later ended up in the er with a 3 day hospital stay read more

I have beaten myself up on how to word this review. As I have tried to mend my mama heart over the last couple of weeks I just don't know If I'll ever have the right words to describe how disappointed I am with this office. No let me rephrase that... not the office, the office manager. My best advice to anyone out there in this community is STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE IF YOU HAVE A CHILD WITH ANY DISABILITY. My daughter turned 18 in Sept. I contacted Dr. Fern (who btw is AMAZING) about two weeks before her birthday. We knew we wanted to move forward with attempting to gain guardianship of my daughter. We had some questions for him about helping us via a written letter that we could take to the courts with us. He was (as always) amazing and helped us with a very professional letter. He advised that he didn't know much of the legal aspects of guardianship and would have the office manager call us. That's where things went south. "Gina" did call us back. The original conversation was very brief and left me thinking things were ok. She explained that things could get touchy with HIPPA once she turned 18 but as long as Mckinsey ok'd us to be there that we would be ok. She said she would get back in touch with us around the first of the year to get an update on where we were in the process. Going to court we need certain medical evaluations and testing completed on my daughter. That is the normal. Her developmental peds doctor at UVA referred us to that doctor who in Sept was still on a maturity leave. Her office called me and advised they had received the referral and that we were on a waiting list. They were to call us once she was able to be scheduled. Fast forward to the first week of February. My daughter had a nurse visit for an injection. My mom takes her to those appointments for me because they are non informational appointments. My mom called me shortly after her appointment time saying there was a woman (Gina) in the room that needed to talk to me. She had my mom put me on speaker phone. (where my daughter heard every word. It tore her up thinking she had done something wrong) She laid into me telling me she told me in September that if I didn't have guardianship by Dec 31, that they couldn't see my daughter any longer past January 1. She NEVER told me that. There is NO POSSIBLE way to gain guardianship from start to finish in 3 months. Had she told me that I would have panicked. I cried, I begged, and I pleaded. I asked her so many times how she could do this to my daughter. That yes, my daughter was officially an adult,, but she is still a high school student. Was she really going to kick a disabled high school student out just like that?! She over and over said that the laws have changed and that she had no other choice. She told me she has been doing this for 24 years and all of the other parents that she has worked with started this process with enough time to have it finished when they turn 18. What a terrible thing to say. I am sorry this is the first time I have raised a disabled child. If you have been doing this for 24 years and know the process why not start helping us parents when the child is 16-17 years old. This would have never even been brought up had I not reached out to Dr Fern myself. I asked her at one point, if I was understanding this correctly....... they couldn't put the account in my name because I didn't have guardianship and they couldn't put it in my daughters name because "she felt" my daughter wasn't able to sign for herself, so basically she was worried about who was going to pay if there was ever a bill? She said yes. As an update, we have contacted another pediatricians office in the area. They welcomed my daughter (as well as my other 3 children) with open arms. They said they could see my daughter for as many years as I wanted her to be there. They confirmed there are no laws stating that because my daughter is 18 without a guardianship, that they cant see her. It was all a lie. I really don't know why this lady singled us out. I have never felt so smacked in the face. My daughter has a list of disabilities that range from CP, to an Intellectual Disability, to Autism Spectrum Disorder, to Anxiety Disorder and so much more. To just kick her out on the street from a doctor that has grown to know her like the back of his hand is unacceptable. read more

I'll begin by saying I love the doctors at Valley Peds and have had pretty good service until recently. I do feel they are more concerned about money then their patients! They dismissed us over $68.00 and a couple of payments "that were not made on time" but were paid! I have been going there for 15 yrs and I had my full trust in Dr. Mumbauer because I don't know if my oldest daughter would be here today if it was not for him. Very disappointing that now I have to find another practice because of small money issues! And have children that are very upset to have to go somewhere else and see doctors they don't know at all!! Very difficult to get anything done through this office, even a simple task like reschedulung an appointment means a 10 minute holding time. A live doctor will never return your call to address your concerns nor are tgey able to make a correct diagnosis. Just about the only thing the pediatricians there are able to do is give vaccines and record weights---if you need anything extra, they are completely incapable---doctors and staff get overwhelmed, diagnoses get missed, so i suggest seeking help elsewhere. read more

We went for a well visit for my child, and during the well visit they asked us a question about medicine she was recently put on. A couple of weeks later my husband takes my daughter back to the Dr's for a sick visit, and there is an extra charge on the account for an additional sick visit. Unsure of the cost, my husband pays the bill. The same day I go to the mailbox and find the bill for the charge my husband just paid. This date of service is the same day we had our well visit. My immediate thoughts were our insurance covers well visits. I called the office, and they stated because it was not part of the well visit guidelines and medicines changed during that visit incur a charge for a sick visit. However, the doctor asked us the question, not the opposite way around. I asked the office if I should have the billing codebook memorized for when I go to visits in their office? Their reply to me was this is what the insurance companies have mandated that if any revisions to previous medicines used, it would be billed as a separate sick visit. It was such a repetitive conversation. This was not a question I asked the Dr.; it was a question asked to me by the Dr. Why should I be billed extra when the question had been asked to me. Should I have answered the Dr. with "let us make another appointment so we can discuss this further"? I am completely enamored by the lack of willingness to work with the customers because we are customers. She was unwilling to refund my money for a visit I had no idea I was getting charged for. They are a privately owned partnership, which means they can make their customers happy. I never complain about serviced rendered due to being in the customer service industry, but when charges are accrued, and they blindside you, it is just unethical. read more

Ran by very immature adults! I have never in my life witnessed such hate for a job as I do from the employees at this office. Employees are talking about patients and their parents,and they talk about each other. The manager Gina degrades her employees telling them they have "no common since" or that they are "disgusting". Every employee there has complained about this woman only to be thrown under the bus by the front end manager Anna! I was even told that Anna took some complaints to Dr. Mumbauer only to have him turn around and tell Gina what was said and then demoted back to front desk until they felt like she could go back to being the front manager. For a company that listens to non stop Christian music and also employees that talk about going to church they sure to gossip a lot and speak ugly to one another!!! While there one employee was talking about writing a 10 pg. resignation letter for when she found another job, another employee was telling people who they can and can not trust when talking about how they feel about the company, yet would run back and tell the manager/s everything that someone told them (two faced), Employees speak ugly about parents that bring their children into the practice as far as cloths being worn, hair not brushed, relationships if they know them, etc... Employees are made to fell like they are lap dogs, there is no water allowed at desk (which makes for a long 8hrs), they are degraded by Gina and sometimes Anna. No reason the employees hate their job so much! Think twice before working here and or taking your child to this location!!!!! read more

I have 3 children and our family has been going here for about 10 years or so. We absolutely LOVE Dr. Fern. He is fantastic with my kids and always makes them feel at ease. He is very attentive to the kids and I trust his medical opinion completely. Most kids are nervous about doctor appointments but he keeps them laughing to help with that. We are so happy that we chose him, Dr. Fern truly met his calling. I'm not really crazy about ALL of the doctors there but I guess we will find certain ones that we connect with more than others. Overall, I'm happy with most of the doctors here though. The waiting rooms are colorful and themed (separate for sick or well patients) and the exam rooms are themed as well. I think it's a great practice! read more
