I wanted to like this place. My former boss shopped here before he died. While browsing the dimly lit store I overhear a customer and employee bad mouthing him for aminute10 minutes before I'd had enough and walked out. The store clerks have never exactly given a warm reception. Im always kinda glanced at if i get a hello out of one them its amazing. Never a how can we help you or aelcome in. I guess because im not there every day. I bought into their "club deal" only used it twice. The store like I mentioned has poor lighting isn't super clean. OK selection of baits if it's your only choice. I found a better in fresno with the nicest owner awesome selection and a bright clean shop. read more

The unprofessionalism of this company is beyond me I went this establishment I encountered 1.99 per fly price, which one wouldn't know what they're charging since there's different prices tagged all over and marked out with sharpie. Besides being almost double the price of other shops in town I walked into a man named Tim cussing and shouting about customers and how they aren't gonna get their way and how terrible they are among other things. I don't mind spending a little extra money but someone cussing and talking about how terrible the customers are makes me wonder what he was thinking about me when I asked a few questions I'll never step foot back in this establishment again read more

Took my my Remington 700 to have my scope base and rings mounted along with my Nikon scope. Merritt that works in the gun section put my parts on for no fee. He did a great job while I watched him put it together. A big extra was that the rifle was bore sighted on the spot all for no charge. Now that is great customer service. Krystal, the cashier was also helpful choosing a case for it. All in all, great customer service experience and best value in town for all your shooting needs from advice, reloading equipment, ammo, supplies and accessories. Im a big proponent for supporting local and small businesses. This store is well stocked and had everything I needed. I was helped by an elder gentleman who was very kind, direct and very helpful, guiding me through the store and I took everything he recommended. I was feeling great about this store and felt glad I could find everything I needed here and was excited about having a new go to spot for all my fishing and gun needs. That was until I was getting ready to check out. There were a couple of younger guys working the front of the store, I greeted them and they both flat out stopped their conversation and walked away in different directions. Didn't think anything of it, until I went to the register to pay, the person at the register (one of the two younger guys), didn't talk to me, picked up the phone and turned away and gave me my receipt without even looking at me or saying thanks. That didn't bother me either and didn't warrant a two star review. What did bother me was the look I was given that left me with the overwhelming feeling that 'my kind' wasn't welcome there. read more

Hands down the best place to go if you need bass fishing gear. They have the best selection of reels and they are the only place in town to carry Dobyns Rods. If you want good service and fair prices this is the place to go. Merritt or Adam can really help you with gearing up for your next fishing trip. They helped me a lot and the information they gave me actually worked. In addition they have a great selection of Gun Powder which is hard to find these days. This is a great example of a local business that deserves our patronage. I have gone there over the years just a couple of times a year. I'm always impressed with their ammo and reloading components, they must have the best stock of anybody around. Most importantly every time I go in there they are friendly and helpful, it's a very mellow atmosphere. Fall of 2011 I was scheduled to go to Utah to hunt, I could not find ammo for my uncommon rifle ANYWHERE, not a single online dealer had it, and in town only Rod and Gun came through, they had one box. When i went to pick it up they even gave me a price break on it. Years back I even had them handle a couple of gun purchases for me, they never gouged me even though I bought them from guys online and just had them process them for me. I'll be going there Friday or Saturday to pickup some reloading stuff that I could get a little cheaper online, but wouldn't get the enjoyment of visiting a great local shop. read more

Not exactly sure about the "selection" issues with the other reviewers but the part of the store that I needed - the gun section, was very well stocked with high quality lines like Hornady and RCBS and at more than reasonable prices. Also, there's an entire wall length of the store devoted to reloading components that are sold dirt cheap and the things that aren't dirt cheap are still being sold at fair prices. They had powder too although not the most common stuff like CFE and Tightgroup but that's because NO ONE has it. lol but they did have Accurate and some others that are workable. If you are into reloading check it out because they have everything from press kits to bullet pullers, brass tumblers and die sets. And they won't gouge you or be rude to you like the men in green at certain big sporting good stores around town. These guys are super friendly and are even training a female worker there in the ways of gun knowledge which I think is great! I couldn't care less about the fishing side lol but the gun side makes the 20 minute drive through traffic worth it. I have been there several times making ti a point to ask questions to see responses and they know their stuff or will get someone for you who does. Much better than being fed a line of BS from someone who just can't admit they don't know. I've done one return of an item I purchased that was incorrect. The exchange went smoothly and there were no issues. It's just a really great place to get your supplies! read more
