My husband spoke with "the boss" while he was at work saying he'd clean the roof for $300. My husband worked from home the next day waiting for a call or text when he heard someone on the roof. When he did as speak with the guy he asked for an extension cord, but when he asked for a workforce was told they will do that when they are done. My husband thought it was for a power washer or some sort, but it was for a jackhammer. They destroyed my walkway against the house and caused the brick facade to crumble into our yard.When my husband asked what they were doing, they were trying to figure out why the sidewalk was cracked (nevermind the big tree with roots sticking out of the lawn). My husband stopped them before they did anymore damage. They are now asking for $17,500 to repair and want $300 for the roof that wasn't cleaned. read more

I hired Valley roofing to do my rain gutters. I had a problem from the start. I'd open my back door and it would be like a waterfall pouring down on me. They sent the first person out. He did some adjustments and said they'd replace that side if it didn't solve the problem. Things were fine for a while notice mold growing around my door open the door waterfall. Send a guy out says he'll take care of it. that he'd call me the following day I no phone call but while I was taking my nap, I don't get enough sleep at night. I was awakened by another technician. I've come to fix the problem. I said I was gonna lay back down. woke up came out. He did nothing absolutely nothing he just left. Didn't call. Didn't text. Didn't explain himself. He just left. I called the office and their solution is to send the owner out to take a look at it. This would be the fourth person to come out and take a look at it. needless to say nothing was done. I didn't want the person to come out just to take a look at it. They've already disturbed my nap wasted my time didn't get anything done for a $3000 job. My door still has water just pouring down on it. I feel like I was ripped off. The fact that nobody called me and explained why they just left. That's ridiculous and not calling before showing up that's rude needless to say I will not do business again and I won't recommend them to anyone. Word-of-mouth is actually the best advertisement originally I wasn't going to write the but after speaking to the office and suggesting the owner come out and take a look. Ultimately I'm going to hire a handyman to finish the problem because I don't want this company in my house anymore. read more

5 Stars because we had a 5 Star experience with a 5 Star result. I'm perplexed by the mix of 5 Star reviews with older 1 Star reviews below. We found Valley Roofing via one of their customers in Salem, a guy in the trades whose company built out our library shelves - a very particular guy who gave Valley roofing a rave recommendation. From start to finish, Joe Johnson at Valley Roofing followed up, was attentive to our questions, gave addresses to see their work, and, yes, one of the crew accidentally cracked a window and Valley promptly paid the glass folks to fix it. Their quote was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive and we're pleased with what we got for the dollar. The Certainteed Presidential TL shingles we chose aren't so easy to install, but Marco and the Crew did a great job with them. They replaced skylights & vents, and dealt with tricky angles. Our neighbors come by and remark at how great the house looks, including one neighbor who himself replaced roofs some years ago. Our roof is steep and huge in relation to the square footage of the house, but the Crew and the Certainteed delivery team handled materials without a hitch. When we asked for a little more attention to daily cleanup while they removed our old, rotting shingles, the Valley Crew stepped right up to the task. If Valley had some issues five and six years ago, per some less flattering reviews, then they have learned from them. Our experience of this company is outstanding. We are very happy to have worked with Valley Roofing and should we ever move and need a roof on another house, we would certainly hire them again. read more

As a General Contractor who flips homes I find it extremely inportant to writ this review for past and present clients of VALLEY ROOFING. Refered to me for roofing , this company caused many problems, damages to home, landscaping, windows and brick work. Owner, Jon Taylor denied any damages on email then changed his mind after I showed proof. The roof at a later date was found with damages and improperly installed. My neighbors informed me his workers where trespassing on their property and chasing their shop. Other neighbors witness workers urinating in trees and plants . Police reports had to be reported. Now 6 months later windows and other damages still not fixed. Had to make a CCB report, hire an attorney to get damages repaired . I give them no rating but yelp system doesn't allow. This company takes advantage of elderly people!!!! A tree fell on the house my 81 year old Mother lives in. The tree fell a week ago. It only made a hole the size of a quarter in the roof and damaged the eve. This was NOT an emergency situation. We called Valley roofing for a quote ONLY. They came out while I was at an appointment so I was not able to be there . Later when I went to my email to check the quote and had an invoice for $250!!!! When I called to ask about it they claimed we had called them out for "an emergency repair". They charged us for a small 6 inch piece of flashing they put over a hole the size of a quarter. I mother said she did not agree to pay them anything and no prices were quoted for anything. I called Valley Roofing and they basically called my mother a liar. If you knew her at all you would know she would NEVER lie. When I tried to resolve this with John he said "what does it matter this is an insurance claim". That statement tells you everything you need to know about this company. Scamming elderly people and price gouging because they think insurance is paying. I have used this company twice but will not do so again unfortunately. I have two rentals and need to legally give my tenants notice of when work is to be done. First experience was left to setting up a time AFTER I returned from a trip out of town, and my tenants texted that the company had showed up unannounced and were tearing off the roof. I called the company and they said they could not stop since they had already started on the job even though there had never been a date set up for them to actually start. The second experience happened in October. I needed a small repair on another rental and got a recording that they were scheduled for the next two to three weeks and it would be a long wait. I waited two weeks, called again, got a human who looked up my account. Yes, I pay. I was told I would be contacted soon by the repair department. I got a voice mail that the repair person was on his way to the rental with no prior date or time set. I certainly had not alerted the tenants and let the company know but when I arrived at the house, the repair person was already on the roof. The tenants were furious with no previous notification. The repair person was rude, laughed at the idea I needed to give 24 hours hotice and that anyone would work from home. As a landlord, I am legally in the wrong for not giving timely notice even though it was not my fault in setting this up. Not again with this company and their lack of communication and accountabilty. read more

My neighbor who looks downward on our roof, just called to ask who we had to do it. I realized I hadnt yelped the vendor yet. I was astounded to see these reviews. Our roof is quite large and very complex in design requiring a ton of cut as one angle meets the next- over and over. There is also skylights and a large venting cupola. Having just bought the home, we wanted to never worry about it so we got a 40yr Certainteed product. We watched closely at the details and Valley's crew of guys was ALWAYS on top of the job (no pun intended) They also were fast, took scheduled breaks and lunch. When they needed an item or one more of something, it would be delivered to them!! Some of the sheathing was bad underneath and it was replaced at a minimal upcharge. And they were $2000 less than other bids! How do I give that job less than five stars? Happy to recommend Valley to our valued neighbors! read more

Joe from Valley Roofing came out soon, after we called, to see if they could replace our gutters. He decided they could do what we needed, and it would take only a couple of hours. He gave us a very reasonable quote. He said it would be 2-3 weeks before they could get to us, though. After 2 weeks, we called to see if we were still on their schedule. We found out there isn't really a schedule. They put your name on a list and come when they can. After waiting 3 weeks with no word from them and rain predicted soon, we called again. They said they would come out that day. They did come. They put up the new gutters quickly and did a very good job. We are ready for Winter, now. Thank you Valley Roofing. read more

Had gutters put on my salon The only thing they left me was a big mess. They replaced the overhang & none of the plywood was cut straight and large holes are left I now have a Birds nest !! they broke the faucet off outside and instead of shutting off the water main, they hammered a stick into the pipe and broke it in the wall ! They keep reporting this at not them, but we contacted Valley Roofing, They had their rep contact us.. the rep used fowl language and called us $$$holes. There is not a more direct way of using a company. We called Valley Roofing, they had someone call and email us, they are the contractor. They can spin it any way they want to get out of it, but we will continue to post. Update 3/5. We contacted Valley Roofing, no one else, they said they were sending their rep. What they do behind the scenes is up to them. The person contacted me did so representing Valley Roofing. If you contact Valley Roofing, and this is the case, they are subcontracting out others work. Regardless we asked Valley Roof for the job, their rep was hateful and horrible. Valley Roofing said they would come out to do the free estimate only AFTER I removed the review. read more

Well strike 1....set up a time for Joe to come look at my house. I asked for earliest time possible so I don't miss much work. She told me they don't start until 9 so Joe could be out to my house by 9: 30 to 10:30 (wish I had his hours) and he will call before he comes out. Day comes, I'm sitting waiting until 10:10 with no word from Joe. I call...I'm told he left an hour ago from salem and should be there. She had no clue who i was or that joe neded to be at my house and yes same gal i set the original time up with. About 10 min later Joe calls...he got held up at another customer? But will be out soon. Thought I was the first visit joe? Anyways, lots of roofing companies out there I don't want to deal with one that can't even keep an appointment. ...he knows. Was all I was going to say. Because he knew what had happened and I didn't want to air dirty laundry. But he chose to push so I will let people know so that you can be aware. We got a message from him that read "Stephanie, We want to thank you for your business, first of all. Secondly, we wondering if there's something that we might have missed with your project? Your feedback was very brief and offered very little information about what we could do to help. Please let us know. We also ask, if you are completely satisfied, that you either change or remove this negative feedback. Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day." I guess he wants me to tell you all the details of what happened. When Jon did our QUOTE we asked that he quote us for new 4x8x1/2 boards to go under the shingles on the WHOLE roof. That way we would have an idea of how much it would cost to do everything on the roof in case it was ALL IN NEED of repair. The quote was for 86 boards at the cost of $32 a board. That quote was to reboard the entire roof. When they were doing our roof only 3/4 of it was repaired with these boards. One of his employees told us this. We asked for a refund on the boards that weren't used OR for the boards to be left with us. He reluctantly sent us a check for $300. If you do the math the check for 1/4 of the roof not being done should have been $650 at minimum. Just because you see a quote for items does not mean that the contractor should have the right to charge you in full for large items not used and that he can turn around and charge the next client for. It's shady. The work that valley roofing did was amazing. It was done in a timely manor. The clean up was fantastic. Our roof looks great. If it weren't for this issue about charging for board not used we would have had no problem with them or their work. read more

I asked Valley Roofing to come evaluate a leak I had in our older rental house. They sent a rep out (Joe). As I had already suspected, Joe informed me that we would need a new roof. He help put a temporary fix on the leak and left me some lumber to use so I could tarp the roof temporarily with no charge. I got a bid from Valley Roofing and another company. Jon (the owner) contacted me personally and discussed the bid. Valley Roofing was very competively priced. They did an awesome job! Very professional and had the entire house stripped, new plywood and roofed and new gutters installed in 1-1/2 days. The job site was completely clean with no scraps left behind.
