I have been in hospital for 2 months. My auto pay card expired today. I called right away to give my new card number. Was told they could not take my payment and I had to go online. For that I was charged a rather hefty "convenience fee ". I called customer support to explain the situation, but was told only the local office could waive the fee. Since they already turned me away saying they wouldn't take my payment, I had to pay the extra cost. Big fail in customer service there. Otherwise it would be a five star.

Unfortunately, I had some damaged property while staying at this location. My understanding is the…read moredamage/situation was a bit unique, and not a regular experience for customers. My unit was insured for $2k, which would have covered all furniture lost. Unfortunately, the insurance company (separate from CubeSmart's storage depot) was a bit underhanded and stated that the policy specifically does not include the type of damage sustained on the property. When regional and store management learned of what happened, they offered to haul away my damaged furniture at expense to the company- which was a huge relief to not have to commit the time for a second move, and pay for a second u-haul, for furniture we cannot use. The regional manager has asked for a list of my items damaged, and although he cannot guarantee any sort of reimbursement, he is going to try. I have my review at a 3-star, and if we recoup any of our losses, that would elevate the experience to 4-5 stars. If we do recoup any of our losses I will further adjust. I work as an organizational development and process improvement specialist, and one of my focus areas is service recovery. The commitment to improving my husband's and mine's experience has been great.

At the time, the guy in the office told me the rate they gave me would not change greater than CPI or cost of living. I was quoted $123/month. What they insist on adding is taxes plus mandatory storage insurance bringing that to $148.40. Then come September, they jack the rates to $200. Now, March 2026 they have jacked the rates again to $251.22. This represents a greater-than-100% increase. I've been in an out of storage for much of my adult life as I travel. This is the most greedy, deceptive, bad faith business I have encountered. Take my advice--take your business elsewhere.

Informed the manager and he told me that there were no cameras on my unit and gave me an insurance form and walked away. Local police showed up and pretty much told me to check local pawnshop for my belongings. Just wanted to let you know what may happen if you rent here. BEWARE

Recently made a cross country move and rented an 8x7x6 foot POD unit to pack up my studio…read moreapartment. Our POD was delivered on schedule to the Middletown location (actually a day earlier than the estimate I was given). I called ahead a few days ago to ask if I could access the contents of my POD and was able to schedule it later in the week to go retrieve my items. At least for this location, the PODs can be accessed between 8am-3pm. When you arrive, you can call the number on the front door and someone will come help move your POD storage box outside with a lil truck--just make sure you bring your key! The manager (whose name I believe was Jim) was super helpful the day my dad and I tried to access my POD. We struggled to open up the pull gate (some furniture had moved in transit and jammed the door) and Jim helped us even push the box open and troubleshoot. Moving is extremely painful, so we were super grateful for his help!

We chose the portable on-demand storage unit when we received a better quote from Mr. Sandman, our floor refinishing company, for doing both rooms simultaneously. We needed a place to store furniture for about one month until both jobs were completed. Hubby ordered a POD delivery for about one month to get us through the painting and floor work. The POD stored large pieces of our furniture from the two rooms. The cool part of the POD storage is the delivery and pickup of the unit. POD utilizes a hydraulic lift system called POD Zilla to lower the unit and load it back onto the truck when your contract ends. Please note that a permit is required to park the storage unit on the street near our property. We live in an older home; our garage is detached and on the back of our property. Steve and his crew just finished moving my family to south Florida from central PA. Steve was attentive and responsive to all of my calls and e-mails leading up to the move, almost immediately. I felt like an important customer! He was courteous and accommodating, explaining everything I needed to know for our giant move. We had thought at first that we would just hire Marathon to load our things onto an ABF trailer, but after meeting Steve and realizing we could trust him, we gave him the whole task! Moving day was tough. We had three floors of furniture and boxes AND a basement. Skinny stairs to maneuver. Tight corners. The guys worked hard and got 'er loaded. Steve kept me updated while they drove south with our belongings. Move-in day we were handed a monsoon rain storm to work in! The guys stayed cheerful and positive the whole time. This is the important thing to me: kind men who I feel I can trust, keeping a great attitude while working hard. And all of our things arrived safely. I'm so very grateful to Steve and the guys.
