I have wrote and asked management to fix the leak in my ceiling for about 2 months now. Till this day the leak hasn't been fixed. My sheets have been ruined. My wall has water stains. When I moved in the stove was an old stove with bugs in it and old food and I believe dryed up blood it seemed like. Mind you this was during covid so to give me a used stove was disgusting. After a debate they replaced it with a new one. I have roach eggs all under n around my cabinets, as clean as I keep my apartment because theirs a rodent problem in the building which by the way they lied about when I moved in, I have mice. They as in hector the super maintenance guy questions my guest when he sees them and has harassed me so many times I can't count. I have never lived some where and received such horrible conditions and service. They took so long to even fix a light in my apartment. The list goes on. Avoid this building the cheap price isn't worth it. The real problem here is the super and the management. Beyond the living conditions. I have tryed contacting upper management about these issues nothing is done. Please avoid this building the McFarland.it's a reason it's 3 stars idk how they got that.

The McFarland from the outside doesn't look like much as it was previously a factory. But on the inside it has apartments that would make you question what they charge for rent (it is very inexpensive to live here). The problem isn't so much the build (but it is) as it is the landlord and the fact that they don't take care of repair problems. The ceiling in my room leaks every time it rains and this has been going on for six of the nine months I have been living here. I've made multiple calls to management to address the issue and nothing has been done. At this point there is mold growing on my ceiling and in my closet, as well as the moldy smell that accompanies it. The building manager "Wendy" is rude and acts as if you aren't worth her time, one of the custodians of the building (there are two) happens to her husband and is a racist prick! When the problem first occurred his response was"my black neighbors where dirty and kept clogging some drain." Some of the apartments have a view of the capital and free parking. The "hood" is steps away and I haven't had any neighbor issues during my time here. Now if only they would fix the roof I could actually rest when I come home and not be worried about the ceiling collapsing while I sleep.

Check my entire catalog of reviews and I've never written one as scathing as this, but it is very well-deserved. We understood that some folks who didn't get affordable "early bird" tickets (we paid $30 per one-day ticket) ended up paying as much as $70 for entry into this scam of an event. The festival organizers obviously put a premium on selling tickets, but certainly not on finding actual wineries to pour at this "festival." There were hundreds of guests, dozens of food trucks and kiosks selling various items, but there were only seven - SEVEN!! - wineries (and a couple cider and mead places, and an oyster buffet), at a "wine festival." How can you organize a "wine festival," sell several hundred tickets, and have a mere SEVEN wineries? It amounted to immensely long lines, with us waiting 45 minutes just for one wine tasting. And with all the folks waiting on lines behind us, we weren't going to take our time and enjoy conversing with the winery representatives about what they were pouring or details about their vineyards. Don't get me wrong, the winery reps were all very friendly and helpful but they were overwhelmed with the sheer number of people they had to pour for. This wasn't a "food truck festival." It was a "wine festival." There was a sales kiosk for hot tubs and one for kitchen knives, but again, SEVEN wineries. For hundreds of people. This felt like an absolute scam. We will be contacting the organizers to demand our money back and we will never again attend a Virginia wine festival. Virginia wineries are friendly, laid-back places that are worth visiting even if not all their wines are on par with wines from Napa and other top-tier winemaking regions. But the Virginia "wine festival" was a complete ripoff and I hope it is never again run.

For folks that follow my reviews, you'll see I never leave 1 star reviews unless a world ending cataclysm has happened, so you'll understand that this 1 star truly means something. It means that a $40 ticket to "experience 200 Virginia wines" was a lie. You'll recognize that good Facebook advertisment and a strong email list serve presence can turn a sow's ear into a multimillion dollar rip off. 7 vineyards, endless lines, a giant front to just have you buy bottles of wine so you wouldn't have to wait in lines. This was a scam from start to finish. We left after the second line where we waited for over 40 min for a rushed tasting with no connection to the vintner, terroir or ANY reason to be at a wine festival. While waiting in the third 40+ minute "tasting" line, we furiously looked up alternate wine locations, eager to salvage a beautiful day away from the tragic and disappointing hellscape of 1 Loudon. This "festival" was bad, a rip off and not at all a representation of wine or Virginia. Do better.
