Our most recent visit was unplanned and I felt it was emergent. I loaded my fur baby into the car and headed straight to the office. I was expecting the worst case scenario, but hoping for the best. Dakota (Front Desk Coordinator/ Miracle Worker) has been consistently kind, compassionate and always upbeat and welcoming over the years. This visit was no different. Dakota is very calming and compassionate. Even though it was an extremely busy day of surgeries and scheduled appointments, Dakota managed to plea on our behalf and was able to fit us in for a "drop off appointment" for just $70 (NOTE: This is extremely generous considering the circumstances; about the same a the cost of an annual exam). I agreed to the necessary x-rays and signed off on the quoted range for what was the best case scenerio: Two x-rays + the medication/procedure to induce vomiting (I recall it being a range of $323-$520 something) *fingers crossed* Even with such a tight schedule, Dr. Glenn Winters himself called me within ~1hr and told me the "good news". My pup did not swallow an object as I suspected, but rather had a case of "Dog colitis". l had to look it up. Dr. Winters is very confident that they only needed to take a single x-ray and my pup needed 2 medications to soothe the inflammation of his bowels; I was able to pick him up and take him home right away. I was hopeful, yet skeptical that the severe symptoms (sudden blood coming out of rear, some vomiting, no eating for 24hrs, becoming lethargic) were so easily diagnosed. Dr. Winters did not require blood work, no extensive lab panel(s), no overnight fees, no extra fee-fee, very straight forward. The final bill was MUCH LESS than originally estimated. He was exactly right on the diagnosis. Damn, this Dr. has a real gift when it comes to animals. This place Under promises and OVER DELIVERS each and every time. 10/10. 5-stars for Yelp, but when a place is consistently 5-stars, you just hafta give them proper credit. I picked my pup up right away, I brought him home and force fed him his 2 pills and watched him like a hawk for the rest of the day. There has been an almost immediate improvement in his condition after administering the 1st doses. Wow, just wow. Thank goodness for Dr. Winters, I honestly don't know what I'd do without his EXPERTISE :D

We started working with Gueseppe in December of 2025 after our almost 2 year old Aussie, Jett had…read moreseveral instances of almost backing out of her harness and into traffic while walking downtown. She was also very uneasy during all of her walks and endlessly scanned her entire surroundings. It was physically and emotionally exhausting for all of us. The phone consultation was fantastic. Gueseppe asked us a series of questions about her training to date, what we thought was causing her to be nervous and what we wanted to get out of training. We want to be able to travel with her and ensure her safety, was our ultimate goal. We enrolled in the 2-month package with Jett. She was reluctant to enter the building and Gueseppe got to see first hand what a mini Jett panic attack looked like. Our first session was focused on motivation, conditioning and rewarding the behavior we expected her to do. Training with a slip collar made a huge & positive difference in making sure our communication was clear up and down the leash. We used the agility equipment to help her overcome fears of walking on different surfaces. Each week, we got homework to build on the previous learnings and started to see how putting her into obedience brought Jett comfort. We started to see a new spring in her step. By the third session we had already started to see her make breakthroughs in confidence, clarity and calmness when arriving to school. This was when we started working with Tiffany, who was wonderful. She spent a lot of time training me on how to be clear in my communication without bending down and becoming tangled up in the leash. The training of the human gave me so much insight into how I was inadvertently reinforcing the feeling of panic for Jett and I've learned how to dial it way back. I could see and feel Jett's emotional growth. I think she also could feel me getting more relaxed. The major growth day was the day we did a walk downtown with her and Tiffany walked with us as coach. We literally faced every situation that had caused Jett and I to panic in the past. When we got back to the school, we were all so proud of Jett. At our last class, Gueseppe joined us and Jett was happy to show him everything she had learned. Jett has graduated now and we are continuing our work with pack walks, alumni training days and taking her out into situations that we would normally have shied away from. The bonding we've experienced with Jett has been an incredible gift. She used to drool (she gets carsick) at the idea of getting into the car. She now gets excited and puts her paws up so she can be lifted in. Long story short. This training was the best money we have ever spent on any dog training course. We have a small and mighty toolbox to ensure that we are successful in all situations. We have a stronger bond with our pup and our older Aussie is enjoying going on walks with her now. My confidence is much stronger and the gratitude we feel for Companion Canine coming to Jacksonville, OR is immerse.

I sent ZIVA my 18 month Great Dane to COMPANION CANINES for a two week Board & Train Boot Camp. I…read moregot Ziva as a 6 week old puppy and was training her myself to be my Mobility Service Dog & she was doing very well....until she was 8 months old and was poisoned & spent 7 weeks in her crate. Her training went out to the window. She started knocking me down & Stomping on me to the point I had broken ribs. 10 more weeks in either her crate or dog run & she really needed an Attitude Adjustment! They did an EXCELLENT JOB! Ziva now has her CGC & will soon pass her Public Access test for ADA . Ziva is a joy again & is welcome in any grocery store, his box store & medical facilities! I am heartbroken and extremely disappointed with the care my dog received at Crater Animal Clinic…read more I first brought her in because she had lost interest in food. She was prescribed antibiotics, but after a week there was still no improvement. The vet then suggested IV antibiotics, followed by an ultrasound, which showed a small lesion on her liver. The recommendation was a surgical biopsy. When I asked how my dog would recover from surgery when she still wasn't eating, the response I received was simply to "force feed her." Another test was suggested (a chest X-ray), and desperate to help my dog, I agreed. After hours of waiting with no communication, I had to call myself--only to be told by a vet tech that the X-rays showed no abnormalities and the note from the vet was, "continue with what you're doing." When I arrived to pick up my dog, the first thing I was met with was a request for payment--before I was even able to speak with the vet. It became clear to me at that moment that this office prioritizes dollars over the well-being of their patients. To make matters worse, my dog was brought out soiled and clearly uncared for while in their holding kennel. The following day, a home vet came to evaluate her and immediately identified jaundice--something this vet office never mentioned. Tragically, my sweet girl did not recover, and I had to say goodbye. I am sharing this experience because I would never want another pet parent to go through what we did. Our animals deserve compassionate, thorough, and attentive care--qualities I did not see reflected here.
