I am actually writing this review a few years late, a while ago I drove from Las Vegas to San Diego, and at the heart of the Mojave desert, this was the only rest stop on the way. I just found this page so I though I would leave an honest review. First off, it is VERY difficult to maintain an establishment literally in the middle of nowhere, so it obviously won't be up to standards. It had a pretty scenic view, and the rest rooms worked, however could use a good cleaning. Graffiti all over the stalls. Still, its a pretty interesting place, though I would not recommend drinking their water, due to the fact that it is stored in a massive tank visible above ground and can be contaminated. read more

I'm sure state spent a fortune on this Rest Area beautiful sculptures and ledge stone. It's only 5 years since opening and is trashed. Idk if it's just too much use and abuse or not enough maintenance , either way it's pretty bad . Is closed again until Fall 2026 for maintenance or repairs. Zero stars repeatedly over a 6-month repeat travel of I-15. This rest area was built nicely and has been completely trashed. The majority of stalls are out of order and there is a single empty bottle of soap sitting on one sink. 50/50 if the dryers work. Yuk. Husband reports NONE of the water was working in the men's room today. Urinals or toilets. Yet they were open. So gross. read more

Remodeled and looking great! Stopped here today for a break in our drive. Been here before a number times and while always functional, it is also fun and has some good information spots. Good planning and glad they kept up the theme of the area. read more

As of 11/2/2024 men's and women's restrooms had several orange bags covering toilets and sinks(out of order). Some state employee supervisor should be written up for failing to provide services that we tax payers pay to DMV and the beautiful state of California. Just pee on I15, you'll be glad you did. Zero to negative stars should be given at this location. Stopped for a quick break. Used the facilities. The bathrooms smelled worse than a dive bar toilet, mixed with the heat of the sun. Nasty! There was urine all over the floor and all over the tops of the urinals. No hand soap available for hand washing. Garbage cans completely full of trash. Had to put the soda cans on top of the dump bins. read more

My folks and we have stopped at this busy rest area at Indian Wells near Baker. Clean outside. Bathrooms wet on floor. Smells. I think they have maps behind plexi and historic info. Careful backing out as peeps fly in through the same single lane. read more

Oy this place. Women's restroom, one of them, had 2 put of order stalls and no soap! The men's had 2 out of order in one and 3 out of order in another, and no soap. I wonder who's in charge of maintaining these rest areas but I'm sure it's not an easy job. read more

Not one minute too late! Imagine driving down I-15 at 75 miles per hour and the who freaking highway is passing you by at 90! You are in the middle of the desert and there are not exists insight when out of nowhere nature gives you a call!! Never mind the rest of the world, but you are already 5-10 miles per hour over the speed limit and have no desire to get a speeding ticket no matter what. Desperation is setting in, the world is getting darker and darker and all seems hopeless and then out there down the slope you see it; Valley Wells Rest Area! Folks, at that moment I can't tell you of a prettier site on the edges of Mojave National Preserve! When you gotta go, ya gotta go! Valley Wells is a convenient rest area either right before you get to Las Vegas, or about 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas, depending on which way you are traveling. It is new, clean and has room to walk your dog or sit at a picnic table and have a quick bite. The only situation that makes this stop iffy is that they are not always open. I get the feeling this is as much about water conservation as anything else, since very often a few of the sinks and the toilets are marked "Out of Order." We try to notice on our way into Vegas whether or not they are open, to plan for a quick stop on the way out of town. read more

Well finally it's open!! We've drove by this rest stop numerous times before to only find it closed for upgrades. So don't miss this rest stop all new but will be extremely packed on busy weekends. We stopped and the line in the women's bathroom was at least 25 people long!! read more

This is a neat, clean test area well-positioned for any wary traveler. It is bare-bones but maintained sufficiently. There are a lot of truckers and road trippers congregating at this spot for a break. If you're tired and in the area, there is no excuse not to pull over! Valley wells is a nice spot to take a few minutes and recharge. It is safe and fellow passers by are friendly. read more

Located off the 15 fwy after Baker when heading to Vegas or before Baker when heading back from Vegas to LA. It's a nice rest stop it's pretty clean. They have two parking areas one is for big rigs and vehicles with trailers. The other area for the normal autos. Sometimes this one closes for repairs so they will post it on the rest area signs a few miles before the exit. Overall this is the second rest stop or first of two rest stops along the 15 while heading to or coming back from Vegas. read more

They have one of those self-service hot drink machines that takes dollar bills and a snack vending machine, but that's it. I guess it's less of a labor cost to maintain this type of set up. There is one rest area on each side -- this one is heading towards Vegas. They have very clean restrooms, with toilet seat covers, easy to roll out toilet paper, automatic toilet, no soap though at the time I used it. So bring hand sanitizer or wipes. Also there are several toilets, there wasn't a line. The next restroom stop was about 30 mins away. read more

I would normally give Valley Wells 4 stars, but it seems like the State of California has the two facilities near the Cima exit closed as much as they're open. When they're open, as they were when I went by last week, they make a quick pit stop without stopping at a lotto store. I have found the restrooms to be generally clean. The restrooms are outfitted with prison style metal gear so they're harder to vandalize. The thing that normally is not operating is the hand drier. Often, there's no air from them and to save on littler, paper towels are not provided. There are some benches and it's a place where you can get out of the car and walk round and maybe have something to snack on as you look at the desert. That is, unless you're eager to be on your way. In that case, getting off and back on the freeway is easy! read more

I am so glad I had the chance stop by this beautiful rest area. I stop to have my dog Bella potty and well let's face it is was long drive from LA to LV so I needed to potty too. There's ample parking for both big Trucks/Rv's and SUV's/cars. I am so impressed at how clean they have this rest area. I wished the inside of the restrooms had better lighting for safety, but hey it works right. I really enjoyed the fact that they have a beautiful covered picking area with tables and benches. It's a perfect spot to have the family stop rest, take out your cooler and topper wear and eat your food. I am sure that of every puts in a little bit of there part and cleans up after themselves this Rest Area will continue to look clean and beautiful. read more

Okay stop if you really need a bathroom, but I'd recommend avoiding at night due to bugs and bats. On the last visit most of the sinks in the women's room were covered in plastic as out of order, but the rumor was it was simply for water conservation purposes. read more

I enjoyed using these facilities as well. Its located about 30-40 miles away from CV Kane. Theres a huge lot for big rig parking as well as smaller vehicles. The facilites are clean. There was actually people in their actively cleaning the floors and stalls so that was nice. No foul odors. Floors weren't wet at all. The sink and soap dispenser worked. And its about 20 degrees cooler in temperature than the CV Kane rest stop which was a welcomed releif today. Its right off the freeway, with easy access back onto th 15 north. It's an okay rest area. It's decent for the most part. But the cleaning crew are so rude. I'm trying to use the restroom & the whole time they are standing outside the door trying to open it I obviously have it locked for a reason because I used the single bathroom , they watched me go in it so I don't understand why they feel the need to stand outside the door being loud blaring their music being disrespectful. read more

So women's restroom had broken tiles where you flush sinks had no soap . Men's restroom urinals we're all broken. To top it off the staff were standing around outside on their cells . California should just close these rest stops as they cannot keep them safe and stocked but can pay for two men to stand around . read more

We have been here several times and the facilities have been nice. However this time the restrooms were in sad shape. There were obvious signs of vandalism, some stalls not useable. Four of the five sinks were covered with signs not to use. What has happened? read more

Meh it's a rest area, the water fountains are always broken, the soda machines do not take apple pay (who uses cash anymore?) there is a little picnic area but that is where people decide that it is okay to smoke cigerettes and the picnic tables end up being a great place to sit and smoke so even though the area is relaxing, it's just a rest stop. It's clean they keep it stocked and if you need to go, this is a good place to do so. read more

This was one of the Best Road side Rests that I have visited in the USA. There is a walking path with lots of interesting sinage to read. Pleanty of room to walk the dog. The men's room was large clean well maintained with soap and toilet paper. It was nicely decorated. There was a free telescope and one for short people or those in a wheelchair. I never use the vending machines at roadside rests but they seemed to have a good variety of over priced snacks drinks and coffee. read more

I stop here everytime I go past nothing is more boring than driving 15 the place is clean with lots of parking plus it's safe with lots of people there 24 hours. The place also has a great view of the mountains read more

A rest area on the open road is always welcomed. Great location... on both sides of the interstate... and organized parking. But the bathrooms are nasty.
