However I had to take a star off because this last year, since the Covid, far too many are bringing large dogs into the small dog pen and it is VERY dangerous for truly small, old, or blind dogs to have the huge dogs there. Often they are not picking up after their dogs and that never used to happen, either. I hope this is not the new normal in the the small dog pen. I hope more people follow the rules and take their big dogs and huge puppies into the large dog areas (there are TWO!!!) and are respectful of others and of the small dogs.

The area plays host to CU cross country meets, so there's miles of dirt road to run. You can easily knock a five mile run here if you keep looping around. But when you come in the summer it will still look the same. A removable heated tent will be erected inside and heated by geothermal heat from underneath that will be transferred underground from the dining hall kitchen's surplus stored energy. So modern in such an old structure. So when you visit this spring there is a lot of truck traffic and digging and detours around the building but you can see from the last picture, the green and the view of the Flatirons are undisturbed.

Today was especially fun because we brought her friend Vincent. My daughter has grown up in Colorado hiking skiing doing all the Colorado things and it's just so emotional seeing her finally making it up to the royal arch for the very first time . We've done Sequoia national Park trails and Yosemite trails but royal arch has so many different parts to it hike it is a lot shorter than a lot of national park trails but it's more challenging in. There are a lot of boulders to crawl up and down from and a lot of tight squeeze places to get to the most amazing view you have ever seen. Very worth it please come ! Unfortunately, this hike is not for unexperienced hikers to go alone please bring a friend who has done it before or has hiking experience. I would not recommend taking your very small children up here or elderly that are not athletic. They simply won't enjoy their time again. It's very challenging for a lot of people. Please do not let this discourage young adult adults that are healthy and whole. If you have never hiked before, but are an avid runner you will be able to make it up here. Just make sure you bring a snack and whatever you bring up bring down. Do not leave trash anywhere.

Located east of foothills off baseline, you can start north off bobolink trail, or drive down to the rec center. There's a large building but numerous trails to walk as well! There are numerous soccer and football fields around, and basketball and racquetball courts. Many volleyball fields and tennis courts too! There's a big dog park as well with a cool little pond beach. I enjoy this park a ton for sunsets and casual walks, as well as time trial runs. This is a must do park!

For most of my time living in Boulder, this meant taking her to North Boulder Park everyday. Having just moved to the Glenwood neighborhood, I am no longer in close enough proximity to go everyday. Luckily, I discovered Howard H. Park. With plenty of open space, beautiful foliage, and a section specifically for off leash dogs, I am glad to call this my new spot. There is also a children's playground, walking/jogging trail, and creek that runs around the outside of the park. Generally, the park is pretty empty, until about 5 pm or on the weekends - when you're sure to run into plenty of people and their furry friends. My favorite part is a small hill/bump which provides a great place to lay down, as well as spectacular vantage point for launching the disk for my dog.

My dog heard kids skateboarding in the park section and decided it was a good time to leave. 3/5 stars for the dog park, 4/5 for the actual park. The park was pretty big, clean, everyone had their own space and were doing activities and being surrounded by mountains isn't too bad either.

I love the location, alongside a marshy area with lots of light, fresh plants and shade. There's a nice short loop to walk, and some facilities around as well. Amazing classic view of Boulder, as you arrive by car from Denver metro area. It can be beautiful…read moreon a blue sky day but you can also see to the continental divide. Today the high winds up there swirled snow and clouds almost vertically. To the right in this view is Longs Peak in RMNP. To the left is the Indian Peaks Wilderness area due west of Boulder. You might not use this this approach to Boulder on a weekday commute in when it will likely be bumper to bumper going very slow for several miles. And a bit dangerous with snow and ice and high winds at ground level. But on a beautiful clear dry winter day, it is classic and how so many people see Boulder for the very first time.
